Background Posttranslational modifications of histone lysine (K) have integral connections with cell metabolism, and participate in the carcinogenesis of various cancers. This study focuses on evaluating the expression of histone H4 lys 5 lactylation (H4K5lac) and its clinical role in breast cancer (BC). Methods During this research, immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunoblotting, utilizing a specific primary anti-L-lactyl-histone H4 (Lys 5) rabbit monoclonal antibody, were employed to assess H4K5lac expression in BC tissue chips.

Background: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and nocturnal enuresis (NE) represent two clinically prevalent pediatric disorders that frequently present as comorbidities. OSA, characterized by recurrent upper airway collapse during sleep, and NE, defined as involuntary voiding during sleep, collectively contribute to psychosocial distress in children. Emerging evidence suggests that OSA in children can cause NE through multiple mechanisms, though the pathophysiological interplay involving altered arousal thresholds and hormonal dysregulation remains incompletely elucidated.

Mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP, ΔΨm) is critical for mitochondrial functions, including ATP synthesis, ion transport, reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, and the import of proteins encoded by the nucleus. Existing methods for measuring ΔΨm typically use lipophilic cation dyes, such as Rhodamine 800 and tetramethylrhodamine methyl ester (TMRM), but these are limited by low specificity and are not well-suited for in vivo applications. To address these limitations, we have developed a novel protocol utilizing genetically encoded voltage indicators (GEVIs).

Plasmonic nanohelix arrays, exhibiting strong circular dichroism, are among the most promising optical chiral metamaterials. However, achieving chiral plasmonic effects in the visible range remains challenging with current manufacturing techniques, as it requires structures small enough to resonate at visible wavelengths. Herein, we propose a novel strategy for constructing nanohelix arrays through patch-enthalpy-driven self-confined self-assembly of Janus nanoparticles.

Background: Colonic motility dysfunction is a common symptom of ulcerative colitis (UC), significantly affecting patients' quality of life. Evidence suggests that glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) plays a role in restoring colonic function.
Aim: To investigate whether GDNF enhances aberrant colonic motility in mice with experimental colitis connexin 43 (Cx43).

IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is characterized by the presence of IgA deposits in the glomerular mesangium, representing a prevalent form of primary glomerulonephritis worldwide. This condition is associated with a significant risk of progression to end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Hypertension, proteinuria, and reduced glomerular filtration rate (GFR) are established risk factors.

Introduction: As a deubiquitinase, ubiquitin-specific protease 7 (USP7) plays a vital role in diverse cancers, nevertheless, its role in gastric cancer (GC), which is the fifth leading cause of death in diverse cancers worldwide, has rarely been reported.
Methods: To gain a comprehensive understanding about USP7 in the progression of GC, 287 paired GC tissues were collected and analyzed. ShRNA and small molecular inhibitor were used to investigate the impact of USP7 on cell proliferation.

Two-dimensional materials are among the most scientifically accessible materials in material science at the beginning of the twenty-first century. There has been interest in the monolayer transition metal dichalcogenide (TMDC) family because of its large active site surface area for UV photons of light for wastewater treatment. In the present work, density functional theory (DFT) is utilized to model the optical, structural and electrical properties of TMDCs such as NbS, ZrS, ReS and NbSe using the GGA-PBE simulation approximation.

Background: As a crucial node of the cortico-striato-thalamo-cortical (CSTC) loop, the striatum has long been considered to be involved in the pathophysiology of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Numerous neuroimaging studies have reported functional abnormalities of the striatum in OCD. However, altered dynamic functional connectivity (DFC) patterns of striatal subregions were rarely reported in patients with OCD.

To elucidate this, we investigated spatiotemporal variation in soil bacterial diversity and ecological processes from the flooding period to the dry period (April and June, respectively) using high-throughput 16S amplicon sequencing in three habitats (abandoned cropland, grassland, and woodland) within the Chushandian Reservoir's buffer strip, China. The results showed that habitat was more important than temporal variation in shaping soil bacterial diversity and ecological processes in the reservoir buffer zone.

Heavy metal pollution, particularly from copper ions (Cu), poses a significant threat to both the ecological environment and human health. However, traditional copper ion analysis techniques are often hindered by the need for expensive equipment, labor-intensive sample preparation and skilled operation, which limits their effectiveness for field and real-time applications. In this work, we report a novel near-infrared aptamer sensor (NIRApt) that originates from the binding reaction between the DNA aptamer Apt and the fluorescent small molecule crystal violet (CV), enabling rapid detection of Cu through the competitive effect of Cu with Apt.
