Naturally derived materials have attracted much attention owing to the demand of sustainability. In this work, bio-based polyamide was used to tailor the foaming behavior of poly(lactic acid) by dispersing into different geometric sizes. The results showed that both micro-sized spherical and fibrillar polyamide markedly shortened the half-crystallization time of poly(lactic acid) in isothermal crystallization process, while nanofibrils played a better role on promoting crystallization than submicron spheres.

The mechanisms by which cell wall polysaccharides regulate phenolic release are essential to human health. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), surface area and porosimetry analyzer, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and atomic force microscopy (AFM) indicated that compared to fresh plums, postharvest ripening reduced chain linearity in the homogalacturonan region of pectins and the degree of branching of RG-I; pectin and hemicellulose underwent solubilization and depolymerization by cell wall-degrading enzymes; and the specific surface area of cellulose was reduced by 19.5 %-26.

Converting biomass waste into hydrogen energy through gasification is a crucial pathway for producing "green hydrogen". In a fixed bed reactor, a representative biomass waste, rice straw (RS), was pyrolyzed at N, HO, CO, and O atmospheres to generate hydrogen. Solid C-13 Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (C-NMR) and Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) were employed to elucidate the carbon structure and functional groups of the samples.

Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs) are a family of RNA-binding proteins that play crucial roles in RNA processing, transcriptional regulation, nucleocytoplasmic transport, and apoptosis. As a member of the hnRNP family, heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein M (hnRNPM) has been implicated in diverse cellular processes, including the regulation of tumor-associated gene expression, promotion of angiogenesis, enhancement of tumor cell invasion and metastasis, and modulation of RNA virus replication. However, the interaction between hnRNPM and pseudorabies virus (PRV) remains unexplored.

Due to the natural salt solubility of proteins as emulsifiers, a large amount of salt is required to fill the emulsion system to facilitate the completion and stability of the emulsion emulsification process. High salt diets and edible products have been rejected and gradually replaced by health products dominated by low salt concepts. However, low salt conditions can make it difficult for emulsion systems to form or collapse.

A programmable multichannel chemiluminescence immunoassay sensor was developed based on the biotin-streptavidin system for the automatic quantification of the total amount of fumonisin B, B and B in maize samples. First, the key parameters, such as the reaction time and reagent dosage were optimized to improve the sensitivity. All reagents were subsequently added to the corresponding wells of the reagent strips, which were further sealed to create a total fumonisin quantification kit.

The aim was to investigate the causal relationship between the lipidome and deep vein thrombosis (DVT) while identifying and quantifying the role of metabolites as potential mediators. Two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis of lipid species (n = 7174) and DVT (6767 cases and 330,392 controls) was performed using pooled data from genome-wide association studies. In addition, we quantified the proportion of metabolite-mediated lipidomic effects on DVT using 2-step MR.

This study aims to investigate the relationship between the spatial distribution and heterogeneity of lumbar vertebral trabecular volumetric bone mineral density (vBMD) and osteoporotic vertebral fractures(OVF). This retrospective study included the L1 and L2 vertebrae of 143 participants with osteoporotic vertebral fractures and 429 age- and sex-matched no-fractured controls. Spatial distribution was assessed using the superior/middle and inferior/middle ratios, while heterogeneity was indicated by the quartile coefficient of variation (QCV) and interquartile range (IQR).

Stimuli-responsive circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) metal clusters hold significant potential in high-security encryption and sensing applications, yet the exploration of hydrogen-bond-driven CPL-active metal clusters remains limited. Here, we report the synthesis of an enantiomeric pair of rhomboid Au4 clusters utilizing chiral R/S-4-hydroxymethyl-5-methyloxazole-2-thione (R/S-HMMT) ligands. Two enantiomeric pairs of self-assembled metal clusters R/S-Au4(HMMT)4-blue and R/S-Au4(HMMT)4-red were obtained, by constructing distinct intercluster hydrogen bonds through the use of different crystalline solvents.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) are emerging as a promising candidate for large-scale energy storage, offering enhanced safety and low costs. Nevertheless, the disordered growth of zinc dendrites has resulted in low coulombic efficiency and the dangers of short circuits, limiting the commercialization of ZIBs. In this study, a planar growth of zinc along the (002) direction is achieved by regulating the moderate initial stacking pressure during cell cycling and facilitating a larger zinc deposition particle size.

Iridium-based electrocatalysts are commonly regarded as the sole stable operating acidic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts in proton-exchange membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE), but the linear scaling relationship (LSR) of multiple reaction intermediates binding inhibits the enhancement of its activity. Herein, the compressive strain and oxygen vacancy effect exists in iridium dioxide (IrO)-based catalyst by a doping engineering strategy for efficient acidic OER activity. In situ synchrotron characterizations elucidate that compressive strain can enhance Ir─O covalency and reduce the Ir─Ir bond distance, and oxygen vacancy (O) as an electronic regulator causes rapid adsorption of water molecules on the Ir and adjacent Ov (Ir─O) pair site to be coupled directly into O─O intermediates.

Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC) ranks among the most prevalent cancers worldwide, characterized by significant heterogeneity and a complex immune microenvironment. T cell exhaustion is pivotal in the pathogenesis of HNSC, where depleted T cells exhibit reduced proliferative capacity and diminished effector function, facilitating tumor immune escape and subsequent disease progression. A thorough understanding of the primary mechanisms driving T cell depletion within the tumor microenvironment is essential for enhancing the efficacy of immunotherapeutic approaches in HNSC, with profound implications for patient outcomes.
