Constructing highly conjugated three-dimensional covalent organic frameworks (3D COFs), particularly those with luminescent features, remains a significant challenge. In this work, we successfully synthesized a 3D COF, named 3D-Py-SP-COF, using a rigid and orthogonal spirobifluorene building block for the spatial 3D structure construction and planar pyrene as luminescent units. The incorporation of the pyrene and the unique rigid 3D network structure endow 3D-Py-SP-COF with fluorescent properties.

Purpose: The process of searching for and selecting clinical evidence for systematic reviews (SRs) or clinical guidelines is essential for researchers in Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). However, this process is often time-consuming and resource-intensive. In this study, we introduce a novel precision-preferred comprehensive information extraction and selection procedure to enhance both the efficiency and accuracy of evidence selection for TCM practitioners.

Identification of EXPA4 as a key gene in cotton salt stress adaptation through transcriptomic and coexpression network analysis of root tip protoplasts.

BMC Plant Biol

January 2025

National Key Laboratory of Cotton Bio-breeding and Integrated Utilization, Institute of Cotton Research, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Anyang, Henan, 455000, China.

Background: Salinity stress impairs cotton growth and fiber quality. Protoplasts enable elucidation of early salt-responsive signaling. Elucidating crop tolerance mechanisms that ameliorate these diverse salinity-induced stresses is key for improving agricultural productivity under saline conditions.

Before patients begin out-of-bed exercises following internal fixation surgery for acetabular fractures, turning over in bed serves as a crucial intervention to mitigate complications associated with prolonged bed rest. However, data on the safety of this maneuver post-surgery are limited, and the biomechanical evidence remains unclear. This study aims to introduce a novel loading protocol designed to preliminarily simulate the action of turning over in bed and to compare the biomechanical properties of two fixation methods for acetabular fractures under this new protocol.

Male breast cancer (MBC) is rare, and due to the absence of male-specific screening programs, many patients are diagnosed at advanced stages and older ages. This study aims to analyze the long-term trend of MBC incidence and develop a competing risk model to improve survival rates. MBC data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database (1975-2019) were analyzed using the Age-Period-Cohort (APC) model to examine trends in age, period, and birth cohort effects of MBC incidence.

A functional integral approach to magnon mediated plasmon friction.

Sci Rep

January 2025

School of Physics, Electrical and Energy Engineering, Chuxiong Normal University, Chuxiong, 675000, China.

In this paper, we discuss quantum friction in a system formed by two metallic surfaces separated by a ferromagnetic intermedium of a certain thickness. The internal degrees of freedom in the two metallic surfaces are assumed to be plasmons, while the excitations in the intermediate material are magnons, modeling plasmons coupled to magnons. During relative sliding, one surface moves uniformly parallel to the other, causing friction in the system.

State Key Laboratory of Drug Research & Center of Pharmaceutics, Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai, China.

The efficacy of cancer immunotherapy relies on a sufficient amount of functional immune cells. Triple-negative breast cancer lacks enough immune cell infiltration, and adjuvant therapy is necessary to prime anti-tumor immunity. However, the improvement in efficacy is unsatisfactory with concern about inducing systemic immunotoxicity.

Time-dependent afterglow colored (TDAC) behavior differs from static afterglow by involving wavelength changes, enabling low-cost, high-level encryption and anti-counterfeiting. However, the existing carbon dot (CD)-based TDAC materials lack a clear mechanistic explanation and controllable wavelength changes, significantly hindering the progress of practical applications in this field. In this study, we synthesized CDs composites with customizable tunable TDAC wavelengths across the visible region.

Ppb-Level Photoacoustic Detection of Chloroform Using Four-Microphone Array.

Anal Chem

January 2025

International Joint Laboratory for Integrated Circuits Design and Application, Ministry of Education, School of Physics, Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou 450001, China.

The photoacoustic spectroscopy (PAS) system commonly enhances the efficiency of optical-acoustic-electrical energy conversion by increasing the laser power, optimizing the resonance characteristics of the photoacoustic cell (PAC), and improving the sensitivity of acoustic sensors. However, conventional systems using a single-microphone or a dual-microphone differential setup for point sampling of the photoacoustic signal fail to account for its spatial distribution, leading to a loss of spatial gain. Drawing on microphone array theory derived from sonar technology, this study, for the first time, presents a PAS sensing system based on a four-microphone array, which is applied to detect chloroform gas.

Food safety problem caused by aflatoxins (AFs) has become a major concern worldwide. However, due to the complexity of food matrices and the low concentration of analytes, the accurate and sensitive determination of AFs and their precursors in the biosynthetic pathway is extremely challenging, so the development of efficient sample preparation techniques has been urgently required. This paper reviews the recent advances in sample preparation based on some emerging extraction media for the determination of AFs and their precursors in different food samples, including ionic liquids (ILs) and IL-based composites, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs).
