Article Synopsis
  • There has been significant progress in diagnosing and treating ACL injuries in China, with ACL reconstruction widely recognized for restoring knee stability, though standardized protocols are still needed.
  • The Chinese Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Chinese Society of Sports Medicine collaborated to create an expert consensus aimed at improving diagnostic and treatment standards for ACL injuries.
  • Experts focused on "Graft Selection" and "Clinical Outcome Evaluation" during the consensus development, concluding that while there is no definitive graft choice, each option has its benefits and drawbacks regarding healing, availability, costs, and risks, particularly for young athletes.

Henan Key Laboratory for Helicobacter pylori & Microbiota and GI Cancer, Marshall Medical Research Center, The Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, No. 3 Kangfuqian Street, Erqi District, Zhengzhou 450052, China.

In recent years, multifunctional platinum nanoclusters (Pt-NCs) as new Pt-based anti-cancer drugs exhibit a promising therapeutic efficiency for several cancer diseases, especially for human pulmonary carcinoma. However, the endocytosis behaviors (like uptake pathway, etc.) and induced apoptosis mechanism of Pt-NCs for drug-resistant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), are still inconclusive.

Background: Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) such as cabozantinib, regorafenib have demonstrated encouraging activity in prolonging progression-free survival (PFS) in several bone sarcoma entities in prospective clinical trials. This retrospective study aims to analyze the safety and efficacy of anlotinib, a novel multi-target TKI, in patients with locally unresectable or metastatic bone sarcoma at three institutions.

Methods: Patients with advanced bone sarcoma administered anlotinib 12 mg once daily, 2 weeks on/1 week off, from June 2018 to June 2020, until disease progression or intolerance of treatment.

Arthritis of joints remains a hard-to-treat disease due to the low drug exposure to the articular cavity. Present study was intended to develop a Tripterine (TRI) and all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA)-loaded lipid-polymer hybrid nanoparticles (ATLP) for enhanced antiarthritic efficacy in arthritis conditions. We have showed that two drugs could be loaded with high loading capacity and control the release kinetics in a pH-responsive manner.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide and most cancer patients receiving conventional chemotherapy suffer from severe side effects due to the non-selective effects of chemotherapeutic drugs on normal cells. Targeted nanomaterials can obtain excellent accumulation at the tumor site through their active or passive targeting mechanisms, thereby reducing the toxicity of the drugs in various ways. In this study, hyaluronic acid (HA) which could specifically bind to CD44 on the surface of tumor cells, was used to modify amine-caged platinum nanoclusters (Pt NCs-NH ) to obtain targeting HA-Pt NCs-NH .

Objective: To explore the regulatory mechanism of microRNA-122-5p (miR-122-5) targeting tumor protein p53 (TP53) gene to mediate PI3K-Akt-mTOR signaling pathway on the proliferation and apoptosis of osteosarcoma (OS) cells.

Patients And Methods: With the collection of osteosarcoma and normal adjacent tissues, the mRNA of miR-122-5p, TP53, PTEN, PI3K, Akt, mTOR, Bim, Bax, and Bcl-2 was detected by Quantitative Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (qRT-PCR), followed by the detection of the protein expression by Western blot. The target relationship between miR-122-5p and TP53 gene was verified.

Long non‑coding RNA (lncRNA) NR2F1 antisense RNA 1 (NR2F1‑AS1) has been reported to be an oncogene in several cancer types, including osteosarcoma (OS). However, the underlying fundamental molecular mechanism of NR2F1‑AS1 in OS remains largely unknown, which the present study aimed to elucidate. The present study demonstrated that NR2F1‑AS1 expression is markedly increased in OS, and NR2F1‑AS1 was shown to exert oncogenic functions in OS.

Intertrochanteric fractures (ITFs) in the elderly are still a big challenge for clinical doctors. Although proximal femoral nail antirotation (PFNA) and bipolar hemiarthroplasty (BPH) are selected by most of the orthopaedic surgeons for elderly ITFs patients, there is still no consensus on the superiority of PFNA and BPH for ITFs in elderly. In this study, we hypothesized that BPH should not be selected as the primary option for ITFs in elderly patients, and analyzed clinical data of 202 elderly ITFs patients aged 80 years or more treated with PFNA (Group A) and BPH (Group B) to compare the early outcome of PFNA and BPH for ITFs in elderly patients aged 80 years or more.

It has been demonstrated that microRNAs (miRNAs or miRs) can act as prognostic and diagnostic markers, and potential therapeutic targets. miR-95-3p has been reported to be downregulated in osteosarcoma tissues, but its potential as a serum biomarker has not been assessed in human osteosarcoma. The purpose of the present study was to examine the expression levels of miR-95-3p in serum of patients with osteosarcoma and to investigate the diagnostic and prognostic value of miR-95-3p.

microRNAs (miRNAs) are small noncoding RNAs and have been shown to play a crucial role in the osteosarcoma (OS) tumorigenesis and progression. VEGFA is a key regulator of angiogenesis and plays an important role in regulation of tumor metastasis. The objective of this study was to determine whether VEGFA was involved in miR-1-mediated suppression of proliferation, migration, and invasion of OS cells.

There is increasing evidence that microRNAs (miRs) are implicated in tumor development and progression; however, their specific roles in osteosarcoma are not well understood. The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of miR-506 in the pathogenesis of osteosarcoma. The expression levels of miR-506 and astrocyte elevated gene-1 (AEG-1) mRNA were detected using quantitative polymerase chain reaction, and the protein levels of AEG-1, β-catenin, c-myc and cyclin D1 were determined using western blot analysis.

Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Nanfang Hospital, Southern Medical University, 1838 Guangzhou Avenue (N), Guangzhou, 510515, China.

Article Synopsis
  • This study looked at how not moving their knees affects certain bones and cartilage in rats over time.
  • Researchers used 36 rats and kept some of their knees still for 1, 4, or 8 weeks while others could move freely.
  • They found that the hard bone under the cartilage changed sooner and more significantly than the cartilage itself, becoming thinner and more fragile after being immobilized.
