Catalytic effects of multiple heterointerfaces on the hydrogen storage properties of magnesium hydride.

J Colloid Interface Sci

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Silicon and Advanced Semiconductor Materials and School of Materials Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310058, China. Electronic address:

The application and further industrialization of magnesium hydride (MgH) are restricted by its intrinsically high de-hydrogenation temperature and dragged kinetics though it is believed as one of the most encouraging solid-state hydrogen storage materials with considerable capacity. Herein, a bimetallic layered MXene VNbC, which was mixed with MgH by high energy ball milling, was obtained by etching compact layered MAX VNbAlC with HF. The beginning de-hydrogenation temperature of the as-prepared MgH blended with 10 wt% VNbC (denoted as MgH-10 VNbC) composites was excitingly 170 °C and it exhibited faster kinetics and excellent cycling stability.

The quinazoline scaffold serves as a fundamental framework, demonstrating potent anti-tumor activity. Employing the pharmacophore-based scaffold hopping principle, we successfully synthesized a series of FAK/PLK1 inhibitors incorporating the quinazoline scaffold. The synthesized compounds were characterized using H NMR, C NMR, and HRMS techniques.

KU Leuven, Materials engineering, Kasteelpark Arenberg 44 bus 2450, 3001 LEUVEN Belgium, LEUVEN, BELGIUM.

Traditional polymer solid electrolytes (PSEs) suffer from low Li conductivity, poor kinetics and safety concerns. Here, we present a novel porous MOF glass gelled polymer electrolyte (PMG-GPE) prepared via a top-down strategy, which features a unique three-dimensional interconnected graded-aperture structure for efficient ion transport. Comprehensive analyses, including time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF-SIMS), Solid-state 7Li magic-angle-spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (MAS-NMR), Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations, and electrochemical tests, quantify the pore structures, revealing their relationship with ion conductivity that increases and then decreases as macropore proportion rises.

The development and generation of affordable and highly efficient energy, particularly hydrogen, are one of the best approaches to address the challenges posed by the depletion of non-renewable energy sources. Hydrogen energy, as a green and ecosystem-friendly source with zero carbon emission, can be generated through various methods, including water splitting (HER/OER) either photo- or electrocatalytic reactions. To implement these reactions effectively in practical applications, it is highly desirable to develop extremely efficient and cost-effective catalytic materials that are comparable to contemporary catalysts.

Self-limiting selective phase separation of graphene oxide and polymer composite solution.

Nanoscale

January 2025

MOE Key Laboratory of Macromolecular Synthesis and Functionalization, Department of Polymer Science and Engineering, Key Laboratory of Adsorption and Separation Materials & Technologies of Zhejiang Province, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310027, China.

Homogeneous mixtures undergo phase separation to generate rich heterogeneous structures as well as enable complex physiological activity and delicate design of artificial materials. Beyond free space, the strong coupling between migrating components and spatial confinement plays a crucial role in determining the essential spatial compartment of phase separation, warranting further continuous exploration. Herein, we report the selective phase separation (SPS) behavior of polymers under a mobile two-dimensional (2D) confinement by graphene oxide (GO) sheets.

Division of Oncology, Department of Pediatric Surgery, and Rare Diseases Center, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, China.

Kaposiform hemangioendothelioma (KHE) is a rare vascular tumor that typically presents in infancy or early childhood. As awareness of KHE increases, it is imperative that the management of KHE be updated to reflect the latest evidence-based guidelines. The aim of this study was to integrate the literature and Chinese expert opinions to provide updated recommendations that will guide the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of patients with KHE.

Background: Microscopic colitis (MC), a chronic intestinal inflammatory disorder characterised by persistent watery diarrhoea, is categorised into collagenous and lymphocytic subtypes. Recent studies suggest that appendectomy influences the risk of MC, although the evidence remains inconclusive. This meta-analysis of available research was conducted to clarify the relationship between appendectomy and MC risk.

Ménétrier's disease is a rare gastritis. Although there were some pathological features under gastroscopy, the depth of mucosal infiltration observed was not enough, and it was difficult to distinguish from other gastric mucosal lesions. A biopsy guided by gastroscopy is not deep enough and may lead to misdiagnosis due to incomplete sampling of the entire gastric mucosa.

DNA structures with the potential to concurrently recruit multiple ligands are promising in pharmaceutical and sensing applications when concentrated in a local environment. Herein, we found that human telomeric G-quadruplex (htG4) structures with a junction can selectively aggregate a natural ligand of tetrahydropalmatine (THP) into AIEgens. The htG4 monomer favors formation of a THP dimer emitting at ∼525 nm.

Tinnitus is a very common condition, and is a side effect of many medications. The panorama of drug-induced tinnitus has widened in recent decades, and post-marketing data are needed to gain a better insight into adverse drug reactions related to tinnitus. However, there are currently few studies on drug-induced tinnitus.

The concurrent evolution of value-added benzimidazole compounds and hydrogen within the domain of chemical synthesis is of paramount importance. The utilization of photocatalysis enhances both the efficiency and environmental benignity of the synthetic process. However, it is profoundly challenging within a photocatalytic system to simultaneously augment the number of active sites and the internal transport rate of photogenerated charge carriers.

Key Laboratory of Interventional Pulmonology of Zhejiang Province, Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, The First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou, China.

Background: It has been proposed that repeated exposure of bronchial epithelial cells to atmospheric particulate matter (PM) could disrupt airway epithelial integrity and lead to epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and ultimately airway remodeling. The molecular mechanisms underlying PM-related bronchial epithelial EMT have not yet been elucidated. The aim of this research is to clarify the molecular mechanism of EMT upon PM exposure.

Background: Left ventricular assist device (LVAD) has been widely used as an alternative treatment for heart failure, however, aortic regurgitation is a common complication in patients with LVAD support. And the O-A angle (the angle between LVAD outflow graft and the aorta) is considered as a vital factor associated with the function of aortic valve. To date, the biomechanical effect of the O-A angle on the aortic valve remains largely unknown.
