The plastisphere, defined as the ecological niche for microbial colonization of plastic debris, has been recognized as a hotspot of pathogenic and antibiotic-resistant bacteria. However, the interactions between bacteria and phages facilitated by the plastisphere, as well as their impact on microbial risks to public health, remain unclear. Here, we analyzed public metagenomic data from 180 plastisphere and environmental samples, stemming from four different habitats and two plastic types (biodegradable and nonbiodegradable plastics) and obtained 611 nonredundant metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) and 4061 nonredundant phage contigs.

Water-soluble and biocompatible protein carbon dots (P-CDs) were simply prepared from egg white by a rapid one-step neutralization heat reaction. Unexpectedly, the thus-fabricated P-CDs could present excitation-dependent tunable fluorescence that could be quenched specifically by Fe and Fe ions with obvious color changes. A high-throughput fluorimetric platform was thereby developed by coating the P-CDs onto a capillary array for detection of total iron ions in fish blood samples, with a linear concentration range of 0.

Moral licensing, a phenomenon where initial moral behavior can lead to later immoral behavior, challenges the sustainability of moral behavior over short-term periods. In the framework of moral self-regulation, current research examined the inhibitory effects of high moral identity and moral elevation on moral licensing. Across three studies we consistently found that recalling past moral behavior can trigger moral licensing (Study 1, 2, 3).

Layered VO·6HO is a promising candidate for aqueous zinc batteries (AZBs) but with moderate electrochemical performances. Herein, the charge storage properties of VO·6HO are markedly improved by building up the heterointerface on its surface using amorphous molybdenum trioxide as the heteromaterial. The amorphous molybdenum trioxide functioning as the proton reservoir enables the proton-involved electrochemical reactions and induces the formation of a built-in electric field along the [001] orientation at the heterointerface constructed by the (001) plane of VO·6HO, which could provide new diffusion pathways and extra sites for ion storage.

Induction of macroautophagy/autophagy has been established as an important function elicited by the CGAS-STING1 pathway during pathogen infection. However, it remains unknown whether lysosomal activity within the cell in these settings is concurrently enhanced to cope with the increased autophagic flux. Recently, we discovered that the CGAS-STING1 pathway elevates the degradative capacity of the cell by activating lysosome biogenesis.

Objectives: Our previous studies have found that low-frequency, low-pressure, weakly focused ultrasound (FUS) can induce acoustic droplet vaporization (ADV) of perfluoropentane (PFP) droplets and result in localized liver and prostate tissue controllable cavitation resonance and mechanical damage. To further investigate the mechanical erosion induced by ultrasound and locally injected phase-shift acoustic droplets in rabbit liver.
Methods: The liver of each rabbit was treated with perfluoromethylcyclopentane (PFMCP) alone, FUS combined with PFMCP (FUS + PFMCP), and FUS combined with PFP (FUS + PFP).
