Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) arises from the epithelium of the nasopharynx and is characterized by geography-dependent incidence. Despite the high mortality rate, specifically in some ethnic groups, the mechanisms underlying NPC pathogenesis are not thoroughly understood and there is an urgent need to detect the potential and clinically applicable biomarkers to ameliorate the overall survival rate and improve the prognosis of patients. In recent years, research has increasingly focused on the importance of long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs) in cancer progression.

Background: Shenxiang Suhe Pill (SXSHP) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) widely used to treat coronary heart disease. The present study aims to investigate the effect of SXSHP on posterior circulation ischemic (PCI) vertigo.
Methods: One hundred and twenty patients with PCI vertigo were randomly divided into the control, low-dose, and high-dose groups with 40 patients in each group.

Apigenin is the active ingredient in Ludangshen. Although previous studies reported the cardioprotective actions of apigenin against doxorubicin (Dox)-induced cardiomyopathy, the underlying mechanisms remain incompletely understood. Since apigenin beneficially regulates various aspects of mitochondrial function and dynamics, we asked whether apigenin improves heart function in mice with Dox-induced cardiomyopathy by regulating the mitochondrial unfolded protein response (UPR).

Background: Accumulating evidence has indicated a possible connection between post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) and gut microbiota imbalance. To further investigate this association, the present work was designed to systematically assess the dissimilarity of gut microbiota between PSCI and healthy individuals or stroke patients.
Methods: A meta-analysis and systematic review was conducted by searching various databases including PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, VIP, CNKI, and Wangfang for relevant studies.

Thirdhand smoke (THS) refers to residual tobacco smoking pollutants that can be adsorbed to indoor surfaces and dust and persist for years after active smoking. THS-related chemicals such as N-nitrosonornicotine (NNN) and 4-(methylnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK) are tobacco-specific lung carcinogens that involved in lung cancer development and progression. In this study, we computed the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between THS and paired control samples.

Objective: To compare the effect of traditional fibula flap combined with allogeneic bone transplantation and composite bone flap transplantation combined with bone lengthening in staged repair of severe soft tissue and bone defect caused by lower limb burn.
Methods: Total 68 patients with severe soft tissue and bone defect caused by lower limb burn from March 2015 to January 2018 were retrospectively analyzed, and they were divided into control group (34 cases) and study group (34 cases) according to the treatment plan. All patients had different degrees of soft tissue and bone tissue defects.

To investigate and analyze the quality of life of occupational patients in Hangzhou and its influencing factors, so as to improve their qol. From January 2007 to June 2018, patients with diagnosed occupational diseases in Hangzhou City were randomly sampled in October 2019. The patients'basic condition and quality of life were investigated by self-made questionnaire and SF-36, a total of 303 valid questionnaires were collected and the influencing factors were analyzed by correlation analysis and multiple linear regression.

Background: Glioblastoma is one of the most common malignant brain tumors. Conventional clinical treatment of glioblastoma is not sufficient, and the molecular mechanism underlying the initiation and development of this disease remains unclear. Our study aimed to explore the expression and function of miR-873a-5p in glioblastoma and related molecular mechanism.

Ribonucleotide reductase M2 (RRM2) is one of the two subunits that comprise ribonucleotide reductase (RR), the enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of ribonucleotide 5'‑diphosphates into 2'‑deoxyribonucleotides, which are required for DNA synthesis. RRM2 is a stress response factor important for the development of several tumors. However, its role in multiple myeloma (MM) remains to be fully elucidated.

In recent years, an increasing amount of literature has demonstrated the functional role of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) in human diseases. LINC00515 is a newly defined lncRNA and is reported to act as an oncogene in multiple myeloma. However, the function of LINC00515 in glioma is still uncertain.

MicroRNAs (miRNA), a class of small noncoding RNAs, regulates message RNA (mRNA) by targeting the 3'-untranslated region (3'-UTR) resulting in suppression of gene expression. In this study, we identified the expression and function of miR-128, which was found to be downregulated in glioma tissues and glioma cells by real time PCR. Overexpression of miR-128 mimics into LN229 and U251 cells could inhibit proliferation and invasion of glioma cells.

We sought to determine the efficacy of atomized paclitaxel liposome inhalation treatment of pulmonary fibrosis in a bleomycin-induced rat model. Forty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups: healthy control, pulmonary fibrosis without treatment, paclitaxel liposome inhalation-treated, and intravenous paclitaxel liposome-treated. Fibrosis was induced by bleomycin injection.

Objective: To investigate the significance of changes in plasma levels of acute phase proteins (APPs) in patients with sepsis and severe sepsis by serial analysis.
Methods: Plasma contents of C reactive protein (CRP), a1-acid glycoprotein (AAG), ceruloplasmin (CER) and haptoglobin (HP) were determined by quantitative analysis in 29 sepsis and 27 severe sepsis patients on 1, 3, 7, 14 and 21 days using an American made specified protein automatic analyzer IMAGE. The data were compared with those of 30 healthy persons.
