Prognosis of primary tracheal tumor: A population-based analysis.

Background: To elucidate the survival outcomes of tracheal tumors and to propose the potential stage of tracheal tumors.

Method: All cases of primary tracheal malignant tumors were extracted from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database (SEER) during 1973-2013. The overall survival was calculated using Kaplan-Meier method.

The comparison between novel and traditional three-dimensional image system in thoracoscopy: glasses-less . glass.

Background: Although three-dimensional (3D) thoracoscopic technology has been available for some time, it is not widely utilized in most centers. Dimness, unsatisfied visualization and discomfort associated with wearing 3D glasses might account for such phenomenon. We have recently developed a "Glass-less" 3D system for thoracoscopic surgery to avoid these in issues.

[Serum levels of Th1/Th2 cytokines in children with non-systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis].

Objective: To investigate the serum levels of Th1/Th2 cytokines in children with non-systemic juvenile onset idiopathic arthritis (non-SOJIA).

Methods: Clinical data of 41 children with non-SOJIA, including 11 cases of polyarthritis, 10 cases of oligoarthritis and 20 cases of enthesitis related JIA (ERA), admitted in Children's Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine during November 2012 and May 2015 were retrospectively analyzed. Serum levels of Th1/Th2 cytokines including IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, TNF-α and IFN-γ were measured by flow cytometry in patients with non-SOJIA, and compared with those in patients with SOJIA (SOJIA group, n=85) and healthy children (control group, n=202); their correlations with erythrocyte sedimentation rate and C reactive protein and CRP were analyzed.

Association of susceptibility to septic shock with platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 gene Leu125Val polymorphism and serum sPECAM-1 levels in sepsis patients.

Sepsis is a systemic inflammatory response to infection and includes severe sepsis, septic shock and death. Platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 (PECAM-1) is one cell adhesion molecule expressed on platelets and leukocytes. It regulates platelet activation and mediates transendothelial migration of leukocytes, thus maintaining the integrity of the vasculature.

[Association between matrix metalloproteinase-8 -799C/T polymorphism and instability of carotid plaque].

Objective: To investigate the association between a -799C/T polymorphism in the promotor region of matrix metalloproteinase-8 (MMP-8) gene and instability of carotid plaque in Chinese Han population.

Methods: A total of 451 acute infarction patients from the Department of Neurology of Taizhou Hospital were divided into carotid vulnerable plaque group and carotid stable plaque group according to the results of carotid B-mode ultrasonography. Serum MMP -8 level was measured by the means of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
