Key Laboratory of Advanced Textile Materials and Preparation Technology of the Ministry of Education, College of Textiles Science and Engineering, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (Xiasha Campus), Hangzhou 310018, China.

Glass fibre-reinforced polyphenylene sulphide composites were prepared by hot-pressing glass fibre fabrics and polyphenylene sulphide resins. The effects of different polyphenylene sulphide resin forms on the properties of the composites were investigated using scanning electron microscopy, dynamic mechanical analyser, pendulum impact tester and universal testing machine. The results showed that different polyphenylene sulphide resin forms had nearly no effect on the glass transition temperature of the composites, which are all located at about 100 °C.

We have developed a facile and efficient procedure for the synthesis of diarylphosphate esters and amides. Using Zn(acac) as the catalyst, the reaction of diarylphosphoryl azides with aliphatic alcohols and phenols through an unusual P-N bond cleavage provided a number of diarylphosphate esters in good yields (22 examples, up to 94%). Additionally, various diarylphosphate amides were obtained from the corresponding amines in excellent yields as well (8 examples, up to 96%).

A convenient and general zinc-catalyzed borylation of aryl diazonium salts and aryltriazenes has been developed. With bis- (pinacolato)diboron as the borylation reagent, aryldiazonium tetrafluoroborate salts and aryltriazenes were transformed into the corresponding arylboronates in moderate to excellent yields under mild conditions. As a convenient and practical methodology, no additional ligands, base, or any other additives are required here.

In this Communication, we developed a new procedure for the synthesis of β-hydroxysulfides from thiophenols or diaryl disulfides with TBHP as the oxidant. In the presence of zinc iodide or potassium iodide, with TBHP as the oxidant and pre-reactant, thiophenols and diaryl disulfides reacted with the methyl group of tBuOH smoothly and selectivity to give the corresponding 2-methyl-1-(arylthio)propan-2-ols as the terminal products in moderate to good yields.
