Department of Urology, Hangzhou Mingzhou Hospital, Hangzhou, 311215, Zhe'jiang, China.

Bladder cancer (BCa) is a highly prevalent type of cancer worldwide, and it is responsible for numerous deaths and cases of disease. Due to the diverse nature of this disease, it is necessary to conduct significant research that delves deeper into the molecular aspects, to potentially discover novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Lately, there has been a significant increase in the focus on non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), including microRNAs (miRNAs), long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), and circular RNAs (circRNAs), due to their growing recognition for their involvement in the progression and manifestation of BCa.

A model for the impact of FFPE section thickness on gene copy number measurement by FISH.

Sci Rep

May 2019

Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine, and Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Applied Enzymology, Jiaxing ACCB Diagnostics, Yangze Delta Regional Institute of Tsinghua University, Zhejiang, Jiaxing, 314006, China.

Fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) assays to detect gene amplification such as HER2 or MET in tumors are used for prognosis evaluation and selection of targeted therapies. Although FISH guidelines recommended 4~6 μm FFPE sections, many laboratories use 2~3 μm sections, which is a common practice for H&E staining and immunohistochemistry. A former study concluded that section thickness did not affect FISH results.

Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of Solanum nigrum polysaccharides (SNPs) on tumor growth in H22 hepatocarcinoma cells bearing mice and explore the mechanism by focusing on the regulation of the expression of caspase-3 and bcl-2.

Materials And Methods: Totally, 50 mice bearing with H22 cells were randomly divided into five groups: Model group, cyclophosphamide group (CTX, 30 mg/kg), SNP groups with low, medium, and high doses of SNP (30, 60, and 120 mg/kg). Twenty-four hours after inoculation of H22 cells, CTX or SNP were given by gavage once a day for 10 days.

Evidence based anti-osteoporosis effects of Periplaneta americana L on osteoblasts, osteoclasts, vascular endothelial cells and bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells.

BMC Complement Altern Med

August 2017

Institute of Pharmaceutics, College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Zhejiang University, 866# Yuhangtang Road, Hangzhou City, 310058, People's Republic of China.

Background: Kangfuxin (KFX) is the ethanol extract of Periplaneta americana L, which has been widely used in the Traditional Chinese Medicine for the repair and regeneration of injured organ and tissues with long history. This study is to investigate the influence of KFX in the various cellular activities and evaluate the anti-osteoporosis potential of KFX.

Methods: The influence of the KFX in the cellular activities, including: 1) migration, osteocalcin secretion of osteoblasts; 2) apoptosis of osteoclasts; 3) migration and tube formation of human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC); and 4) proliferation, cell cycle regulation and migration of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs), were investigated systematically.

Capsaicin has been used in clinical applications for the treatment of pain disorders and inflammatory diseases. Given the strong pungency and high oil/water partition coefficient of capsaicin, capsaicin-loaded nanolipoidal carriers (NLCs) were designed to increase permeation and achieve the analgesic, anti-inflammatory effect with lower skin irritation. Capsaicin-loaded NLCs were prepared and later optimized by the Box-Behnken design.

Effect of polymorphisms of vascular endothelial growth factor on prognosis in osteosarcoma patients.

Genet Mol Res

April 2015

Department of Joint Surgery, Zhejiang Provincial Corps Hospital, Chinese People's Armed Police Forces, JiaXing, China.

We investigated the association between vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) gene +1612G/A, -634C/G, and +936G/C and the clinical outcome of osteosarcoma. Genomic DNA was isolated from blood samples, and 3 VEGF gene polymorphisms (+1612G/A, -634C/G, and +936G/C) were analyzed using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism. Of the 194 patients, 82 patients (42.

Exp Ther Med

May 2013

Departments of Radiology, Zhejiang Provincial Corps Hospital, Chinese People's Armed Police Force, Jiaxing, Zhejiang 314000, P.R. China.

Platelets play a significant role in cancer cell growth, progression and metastasis. However, in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the association between a patient's platelet count and prognosis has not previously been fully elucidated. The aim of the present study was to investigate the correlation between platelet count, patients' characteristics and prognosis in patients with NSCLC.

Current efforts had been made to undertake a three-dimensional (3-D) reverse transfection of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) in PLGA scaffolds. As a kind of multipotent stem cells, BM-MSCs show great potential and tremendous capacity in the gene transfection field and PLGA 3-D scaffold has been shown to be a biomaterial that provides structural support to cells proliferation and tissue engineering. The objective of this study was to assess the transfection efficiency of BM-MSCs with a 3-D reverse transfection method by using PLGA scaffold and observe the SEM photographs of BM-MSCs cultured on PLGA scaffold.
