Angiosarcoma is a highly malignancy of endothelial tumor and represents 1-2% of all soft tissue sarcomas in humans. The aetiology of angiosarcoma is not clear but there are definite risk factors including chronic lymphoedema, history of radiation, environmental carcinogens and certain familial syndromes. Ultrasound, CT and MR are diagnostic tools, but final diagnosis requires pathological and immunohistochemical confirmation.

YAP1 is overexpressed in a variety of cancers and is considered to be encoded by a proto-oncogene. However, the role of YAP1 remains debatable, because both gain and loss of YAP1 expression have both been reported in breast cancer (BC).

Objective: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy refers to systemic chemotherapy applied before local surgery or radiotherapy for malignant tumors. The level of certain tumor markers is an important indicator for assessing the efficacy of neoadjuvant chemotherapy. This study aimed to investigate the effect of serum CA19-9 levels on subsequent neoadjuvant chemotherapy in the treatment of gastric adenocarcinoma.

Parotid metastases (PMs) that originate from thyroid carcinomas (TCs) are extremely rare, and many questions about their diagnosis and management remain unanswered. Of the 15,780 patients with TC that we had prospectively recorded in our institutional databases between 1996 and 2015, we retrospectively retrieved only three patients (0.019%) with PM.

Primary lung enteric adenocarcinoma is a rare type of invasive lung carcinoma. Its morphological and immunohistochemical characteristics are similar to those of metastatic colorectal carcinoma, but there is no associated primary colorectal carcinoma. The purpose of this study is to identify mutations by assessing the genetic profile of lung enteric adenocarcinoma with next-generation sequencing (NGS).

Background: This study aimed to examine the clinical and pathological characteristics of surgically resected lung adenocarcinoma patients harboring uncommon epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations and provide a rational basis to provide postoperative adjuvant treatment for these patients.
Methods: Data from 13 patients with lung adenocarcinomas harboring uncommon EGFR mutations were retrospectively collected, and the clinicopathological parameters and disease-free survival (DFS) data analyzed.
Results: EGFR uncommon mutations commonly occurred in acinar predominant adenocarcinomas, females, and never smokers.

Post-translational modifications (PTMs) are critical molecular events which alter protein conformation after their synthesis and diversity protein properties by modulating their stability, localization, interacting partners or the activity of their substrates, consequently exerting pivotal roles in regulating the functions of many important eukaryotic proteins. It has been well acknowledged that PTMs are of great importance in a broad range of biological processes such as gene regulation, cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis, tissue development, diseases, tumor progression and drug resistance. As the core and contributing catalytic subunit of Polycomb repressive complex 2(PRC2), Enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2) is a master epigenetic regulator, often serving as a highly conserved histone methyltransferase (HMTase) to induce histone H3 lysine 27 trimethylation (H3K27me3) and repress gene transcription and expression.

Differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) is the most common endocrine malignancy. Surgical removal with radioactive iodine therapy is recommended for recurrent thyroid carcinoma, and the postsurgical thyroid removal is critical. This study evaluated the clinical values of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in the postsurgical thyroid removal for DTC.

We present a case of ALK gene translocation-SCC in which a remarkable tumor response to crizotinib was achieved after the failure of prior chemoradiotherapy. Considering this remarkable response, we conclude that ALK testing in female non-smokers or in any patient unresponsive to the initial regimen of chemotherapy, is recommended for SCC patients.

Background: Platelets are involved in multiple links of the process of thrombus formation and development. The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of pretreatment platelet parameters, such as plateletcrit (PCT), platelet mean distribution width (MDW), and mean platelet volume (MPV) in a cohort of patients with locally advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma treated with a combination of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted of 163 locally advanced unresectable consecutive pancreatic adenocarcinoma patients who received chemoradiotherapy in Zhejiang cancer hospital from January 2009 to December 2011.

We conducted a case-control study to assess the role of IL-16 rs4778889, rs11556218 and rs8034928 polymorphisms in the development of RCC. This case-control study included 181 patients with RCC and 278 control patients. The genotyping of IL-16 rs4778889, rs11556218 and rs8034928 polymorphisms were performed using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) combined with restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis.

This study aimed to assess the relationship between serum CA724 levels and the unresectability of pancreatic adenocarcinoma. A total of 302 patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma were analyzed for the potential association between serum CA724 levels and the unresectability of pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Serum CA724 levels in patients with unresectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma were remarkably higher than those with resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma (P < 0.

Background: Pancreatic cancer has the worst prognosis and early detection is crucial for improving patient prognosis. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to evaluate and compare the sensitivity and specificity of single test of CA19-9, CA242, and CEA, as well as combination test in pancreatic cancer detection.
Methods: We searched PubMed, Embase, Medline, and Wanfang databases for studies that evaluated the diagnostic validity of CA19-9, CA242, and CEA between January 1990 and September 2014.

SIRT3 is a member of the NAD+-dependent class III deacetylase sirtuin family and plays pivotal roles in regulating cellular functions. Accumulating evidence has recently demonstrated that SIRT3 may function as either oncogene or tumor suppressor in a panel of cancers. However, the biological function of SIRT3 in gastric cancer has been poorly characterized.

The chemokine receptor CXCR4 is a G protein-coupled receptor that plays an important role in several biological processes, such as trafficking and homeostasis of immune cells (like T lymphocytes), alteration of cell skeleton rearrangement and cell migration. To investigate whether the CXCR4 protein impacts on lung cancer prognosis, a meta-analysis was performed. Our meta-analysis study involved 2,037 lung cancer patients from 24 studies by a comprehensive search from PubMed, Embase and CNKI databases up to September 2014.
