Three novel compounds, including an aromatic amino acid, dimorine A (1), a suncheonoside derivative, dimoroside A (2), and a phenylpropanoid glycoside, dimoroside B (3), together with four known compounds (4-7) were separated from Umbelopsis dimorpha VDG10, the predominant endophytic fungus found in the roots of Vaccinium dunalianum Wight (Ericaceae). Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods, and the ECD spectrum confirmed the absolute configuration of 3. In addition, the antifungal activities of novel compounds against five phytopathogenic fungi were evaluated.

Fe single-atom and Fe cluster-coupled N, S co-doped carbon nanomaterials (Fe-FeO-NSC) were prepared through a two-step high-temperature pyrolysis process using Gelidium corneum enriched with C, Fe, O, N, and S as precursors. The analysis by aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy and X-ray absorption spectroscopy revealed the presence of single-atom Fe in Fe-N coordination structures, along with small clusters as Fe-O-coordinated FeO. Single-atom Fe in the form of Fe/Fe provides more electrocatalytic active sites, which synergistically accelerates the charge migration process in the assembly of Fe-FeO-NSC with FeO clusters.

The demand for sustainable energy solutions has driven intensive research into advanced thermoelectric (TE) materials, to harness waste heat for efficient power generation. Recently, several studies have revealed that TlVS possesses an ultralow lattice thermal conductivity, despite its simple body-centered cubic lattice structure. This paper focuses on the TE properties of TlXS (X = V, Nb, Ta) compounds through a systematic exploration utilizing first-principles calculations and semiclassical Boltzmann transport theory.

Wild boletus mushrooms, which are macrofungi of the phylum Basidiomycetes, are a nutritious and unique natural food that is widely enjoyed. Since boletus are consumed with problems of indistinguishable toxic and non-toxic species and heavy metal enrichment, their species identification and traceability are crucial in ensuring quality and safety of consumption. In this study, the attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy technique combined with three feature variable extraction methods, manual selection method, semi-manual selection method, and algorithm method, were used to improve the accuracy and computational speed of the model identification, and the models were established for the identification of boletus species with an accuracy of up to 100% as well as for the identification of boletus origin with an accuracy of 86.

The traditional factor analysis model assumes that the factors obey a normal distribution, which is not appropriate in fields whose data are nonnegative. For this kind of problem, we construct a more practical factor model, assuming that the factors obey a Gamma distribution. We develop a new factor analysis model and discuss its true loading matrix.

The Defective in Induced Resistance 1 () gene, a member of the lipid transferase proteins (LTPs), plays a crucial role in plant defense against pathogens. While previous transcriptomic studies have highlighted the significant expression of citrus LTPs during biotic stress, functional annotations of LTPs in the genera remain limited. In this study, we cloned the ( gene and overexpressed it in to evaluate its stress response mechanisms against biotic stress.

Mushrooms not only serve as a source of a wide range of nutrients in the structure of the human diet, but they have also received a great deal of attention in the field of biopharmaceuticals because of their wide range of medicinal benefits. Rapid quality certification of boletus (porcini) mushrooms is particularly important as a health food and as a potential source of medicines before purchase and production. Infrared (IR) spectroscopy is commonly used for rapid qualitative and quantitative analyses of foods and herbs.

Citrus species are widely cultivated across the globe and frequently encounter drought stress during their growth and development phases. Previous research has indicated that citrus species synthesize flavonoids as a response mechanism to drought stress. This study aimed to comprehensively quantify and analyze the presence of 85 distinct flavonoids in the leaf and root tissues of lemon (drought susceptible) and sour orange (drought tolerant).

Pancreatic ribonuclease (RNase1), a digestive enzyme produced by the pancreas, is associated with the functional adaptation of dietary habits and is regarded as an attractive model system for studies of molecular evolution. In this study, we identified 218 functional genes and 48 pseudogenes from 114 species that span all four Cetartiodactyla lineages: two herbivorous lineages (Ruminantia and Tylopoda) and two non-herbivorous lineages (Cetancodonta and Suoidea). Multiple RNase1 genes were detected in all species of the two herbivorous lineages, and phylogenetic and genomic location analyses demonstrated that independent gene duplication events occurred in Ruminantia and Tylopoda.

The electrochemical splitting of water for hydrogen production faces a major challenge due to its anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER), necessitating research on the rational design and facile synthesis of OER catalysts to enhance catalytic activity and stability. This study proposes a ligand-induced MOF-on-MOF approach to fabricate various trimetallic MnFeCo-based Prussian blue analog (PBA) nanostructures. The addition of [Fe(CN)] transforms them from cuboids with protruding corners (MnFeCoPBA-I) to core-shell configurations (MnFeCoPBA-II), and finally to hollow structures (MnFeCoPBA-III).

Beer, as an ancient and widely consumed alcoholic beverage, holds a rich cultural heritage and history. In recent years, fruit beer has gained significant attention as a distinct beer type produced by incorporating fruit juice into traditional beer ingredients. This study employed headspace solid-phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry techniques, redundancy analysis, and orthogonal projections to latent structures discriminant analysis to analyze the sensory evaluation, physicochemical properties, organic acids, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) of loquat beer with different proportions of loquat juice.

Animal mitochondrial DNA is usually considered to comply with strict maternal inheritance, and only one mitochondrial DNA haplotype exists in an individual. However, mitochondrial heteroplasmy, the occurrence of more than one mitochondrial haplotype, has recently been reported in some animals, such as mice, mussels, and birds. This study conducted extensive field surveys to obtain representative samples to investigate the existence of paternal inheritance of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) in natural fish populations.
