In order to investigate the effects of ammonium sulfate, an industrial by-product, on soil nutrients and microbial community when applied in different proportions instead of using urea as nitrogen fertilizer, a pot corn experiment was conducted. A completely randomized block experimental design was used, with a total of five treatments:CK (no fertilization), US (100 % urea), US (80 % urea + 20 % ammonium sulfate), US(60 % urea + 40 % ammonium sulfate), and US (100 % ammonium sulfate). The basic physical and chemical properties of soil and the dry weight of maize plants were determined by conventional methods, and microbial sequencing was performed using the Illumina NovaSeq platform.

Background: With increasing gaps between the rich and poor, potential risk factors for class conflict have attracted increasing attention from researchers. Although cognitive factors are known to be significant predictors of class-conflict behavior, limited attention has been paid to competence stereotypes of the upper class. When considering economic inequality, people pay more attention to competence stereotypes of the upper class, which may have adverse effects.

The stigma of social networks may be more noticeable in collectivist societies like China, but research in this area has largely been overlooked due to a lack of reliable measurement. To address this gap, this study tested the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the Perceptions of Stigmatization by Others for Seeking Help (PSOSH) scale in the Chinese general population, and tested its invariance across gender and prior therapy experience. In a national online survey, 640 adults completed the PSOSH and conceptually related scales: Self-stigma of Seeking Help (SSOSH), Stigma of Seeking Professional Psychological Help Scale (SSPPH, i.

Quinoa is a nutrient-dense pseudocereal that has garnered global attention for its potential to bolster food security and nutrition. Despite its celebrated status, the detailed nutritional profiles of various quinoa varieties remain poorly understood, which poses a significant barrier to the strategic cultivation and utilization of quinoa's genetic diversity to combat malnutrition. The impetus for this research lies in the urgent need to identify superior quinoa strains that can be tailored to meet specific nutritional requirements and adapt to diverse agro-ecological zones.

Epigenetics encompasses reversible and heritable chemical modifications of non-nuclear DNA sequences, including DNA and RNA methylation, histone modifications, non-coding RNA modifications, and chromatin rearrangements. In addition to well-studied DNA and histone methylation, RNA methylation has emerged as a hot topic in biological sciences over the past decade. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is the most common and abundant modification in eukaryotic mRNA, affecting all RNA stages, including transcription, translation, and degradation.

As one molecule related to cytotoxicity, surface expression of C-X3-C motif receptor 1 (CX3CR1) was highly correlated with intracellular granzyme B (GZMB) in natural killer and cytolytic T cells. However, the expression of CX3CR1 and GZMB in B cells has not been clarified, and their clinical significance in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) remains unclear. This study aimed to clarify the changes and clinical significance of peripheral blood B cells expressing GZMB and/or CX3CR1 in SLE.

Global climate change has led to shifts in the distribution ranges of many terrestrial species, promoting their migration from lower altitudes or latitudes to higher ones. Meanwhile, successful invaders have developed genetic adaptations enabling the colonization of new environments. Over the past 40 years, Rattus tanezumi (RT) has expanded into northern China (Northwest and North China) from its southern origins.

Article Synopsis
  • - PCSK9 is a protein that binds to LDLR in the liver and causes its degradation, leading to higher cholesterol levels; targeting PCSK9 can help manage cholesterol levels and reduce conditions like hypercholesterolemia and atherosclerosis.
  • - A new compound called E28362 was identified as a potential PCSK9 inhibitor through virtual screening, showing promise in increasing LDLR levels and reducing LDL cholesterol in lab tests and animal models.
  • - In studies with hamsters and mice on high-fat diets, E28362 effectively lowered cholesterol and triglyceride levels and decreased atherosclerotic lesions, indicating its potential as a treatment for cholesterol-related diseases.

Objectives Renal replacement therapy (RRT) is increasingly adopted for critically ill patients diagnosed with acute kidney injury, but the optimal time for initiation remains unclear and prognosis is uncertain, leading to medical complexity, ethical conflicts, and decision dilemmas in intensive care unit (ICU) settings. This study aimed to develop a decision aid (DA) for the family surrogate of critically ill patients to support their engagement in shared decision-making process with clinicians. Methods Development of DA employed a systematic process with user-centered design (UCD) principle, which included: (i) competitive analysis: searched, screened, and assessed the existing DAs to gather insights for design strategies, developmental techniques, and functionalities; (ii) user needs assessment: interviewed family surrogates in our hospital to explore target user group's decision-making experience and identify their unmet needs; (iii) evidence syntheses: integrate latest clinical evidence and pertinent information to inform the content development of DA.

Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Key Laboratory of Neural and Vascular Biology, Ministry of Education, Hebei Medical University, Shijiazhuang, 050017, China. Electronic address:

Vascular restenosis following angioplasty continues to pose a significant challenge. The heterocyclic trioxirane compound [1, 3, 5-tris((oxiran-2-yl)methyl)-1, 3, 5-triazinane-2, 4, 6-trione (TGIC)], known for its anticancer activity, was utilized as the parent ring to conjugate with a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, resulting in the creation of the spliced conjugated compound BY1. We found that BY1 induced ferroptosis in VSMCs as well as in neointima hyperplasia.
