Digital memcomputing machines (DMMs) are a new class of computing machines that employ nonquantum dynamical systems with memory to solve combinatorial optimization problems. Here, we show that the time to solution (TTS) of DMMs follows an inverse Gaussian distribution, with the TTS self-averaging with increasing problem size, irrespective of the problem they solve. We provide both an analytical understanding of this phenomenon and numerical evidence by solving instances of the 3-SAT (satisfiability) problem.

Article Synopsis
  • * Research using ELISA showed that HHP treatments (100-600 MPa) significantly reduced the antigenicity of β-LG, particularly at pressures above 300 MPa, which also caused molecular changes that enhanced digestibility.
  • * The study found that HHP treatment increased the antioxidant properties and emulsion stability of WPI, as pressure-induced structural changes led to higher levels of α-helix and β-turns, while decreasing β-sheet content.

Beijing Key Laboratory of Pharmacology of Chinese Materia Medica, National Clinical Research Center for Chinese Medicine Cardiology, Institute of Basic Medicine, Xiyuan Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences Beijing 100091, China.

Article Synopsis
  • This study evaluated the impacts of Buyang Huanwu Decoction (BYHWD) on platelet activation and gene expression in rats following acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
  • The research found that BYHWD treatment led to improved heart functions, reduced platelet activation, and better blood circulation as compared to the model group, which had experienced AMI without treatment.
  • Additionally, gene expression analysis indicated that BYHWD modified important pathways related to platelet function, suggesting potential protective effects against heart damage during AMI.

Electronic address:

Safe and efficacious antiviral therapeutics are in urgent need for the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019. Simnotrelvir is a selective 3C-like protease inhibitor that can effectively inhibit severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). We evaluated the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of dose escalations of simnotrelvir alone or with ritonavir (simnotrelvir or simnotrelvir/ritonavir) in healthy subjects, as well as the food effect (ClinicalTrials.

While the complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology is the mainstream for the hardware implementation of neural networks, an alternative route is explored based on a new class of spiking oscillators called "thermal neuristors", which operate and interact solely via thermal processes. Utilizing the insulator-to-metal transition (IMT) in vanadium dioxide, a wide variety of reconfigurable electrical dynamics mirroring biological neurons is demonstrated. Notably, inhibitory functionality is achieved just in a single oxide device, and cascaded information flow is realized exclusively through thermal interactions.

Objective: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is the preferred approach for selective reduction in complex monochorionic (MC) multiple pregnancies owing to the ease of operation and minimal invasiveness. To optimize the RFA technique and reduce the risk of adverse pregnancy outcome resulting from the heat-sink effect of RFA therapy, we used an innovative RFA method, in which an electrode needle was expanded incrementally and stepwise. This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety profile of this novel multistep incremental expansion RFA method for selective fetal reduction in MC twin and triplet pregnancies.

High-capacity O3-type layered sodium oxides are considered one of the most promising cathode materials for the next generation of Na-ion batteries (NIBs). However, these cathodes usually suffer from low high-rate capacity and poor cycling stability due to structure deformation, native air sensitivity, and interfacial side reactions. Herein, a multi-site substituted strategy is employed to enhance the stability of O3-type NaNi Mn O .

College of Optical Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, Zhejiang 310027, China. Electronic address:

Achieving nanometer-scale resolution remains challenging in expansion microscopy due to photon loss. To address this concern, here we develop a multi-color expansion stimulated emission depletion technique based on small-molecule probes to realize high labeling density and intensity. Our method substantially lowers the barrier to visualizing diverse intracellular proteins and their interactions in three dimensions.

The canonical glycolysis pathway is responsible for converting glucose into 2 molecules of acetyl-coenzyme A (acetyl-CoA) through a cascade of 11 biochemical reactions. Here, we have designed and constructed an artificial phosphoketolase (APK) pathway, which consists of only 3 types of biochemical reactions. The core enzyme in this pathway is phosphoketolase, while phosphatase and isomerase act as auxiliary enzymes.
