A series of pentagonal bipyramidal anionic germanium clusters doped with heavy rare earth elements, (RE = Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, and Lu), have been identified at the PBE0/def2-TZVP level using density functional theory (DFT). Our findings reveal that the centrally doped pentagonal ring structure demonstrates enhanced stability and heightened aromaticity due to its uniform bonding characteristics and a larger charge transfer region. Through natural population analysis and spin density diagrams, we observed a monotonic decrease in the magnetic moment from Gd to Yb.

The dual function of cGAS-STING signaling axis in liver diseases.

Acta Pharmacol Sin

June 2024

School of Chinese Materia Medica, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, 11 Bei San Huan Dong Lu, Beijing, 100029, China.

Numerous liver diseases, such as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, hepatitis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury, have been increasingly prevalent, posing significant threats to global health. In recent decades, there has been increasing evidence linking the dysregulation of cyclic-GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS)-stimulator of interferon gene (STING)-related immune signaling to liver disorders. Both hyperactivation and deletion of STING can disrupt the immune microenvironment dysfunction, exacerbating liver disorders.

Nitrogen adsorption on NbCH cations: the important role of benzyne (-CH).

Phys Chem Chem Phys

January 2024

Key Laboratory of Cluster Science of Ministry of Education, Beijing Key Laboratory of Photoelectronic/Electrophotonic Conversion Materials, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing 102488, P. R. China.

N adsorption is a prerequisite for activation and transformation. Time-of-flight mass spectrometry experiments show that the NbCH cation, resulting from the gas-phase reaction of Nb with CH, is more favorable for N adsorption than Nb and Nb cations. Density functional theory calculations reveal the effect of the -CH ligand on N adsorption.

Fluroxypyr-meptyl (FLUME) is heterocyclic herbicide with internal absorption and transmission characteristics. Owing to its low cost and rapid efficacy, it has been widely used to control broad-leaved weeds in wheat, corn, and rice fields. However, the uptake, translocation, accumulation, and metabolism of FLUME in rice seedlings and the extent of oxidative stress induced by it remain largely unknown, which consequently restricts the comprehensive risk assessment of FLUME residues in the environment during rice production.

  • Melanin-concentrating hormone (MCH) in the locus coeruleus (LC) may play a significant role in depression by affecting norepinephrine levels.
  • Chronic unpredictable stress (CUS) led to increased MCH levels and decreased MCHR1, which correlated with depression-like behaviors in rats, while blocking MCHR1 showed antidepressant effects.
  • The study highlights the potential of the MCH/MCHR1 system in the LC as a target for understanding and potentially treating depression-related mechanisms.

Electronic address:

A novel ratiometric electrochemical aptasensor based on split aptamer and Au-reduced graphene oxide (Au-rGO) nanomaterials was proposed to detect aflatoxin M1 (AFM1). In this work, Au-rGO nanomaterials were coated on the electrode through the electrodeposition method to increase the aptamer enrichment. We split the aptamer of AFM1 into 2 sequences (S1 and S2), where S1 was immobilized on the electrode due to the Au-S bond, and S2 was tagged with methylene blue (MB) and acted as a response signal.
