Objectives: Multiple pregnancies are known to be associated with adverse maternal and perinatal complications. How-ever, data regarding the outcomes of spontaneously reduced twin pregnancies are limited. In the current study we aimed to evaluate the consequences of the vanishing twin syndrome (VTS) in dichorionic diamniotic twin pregnancies for both mother and baby in our perinatal center.

Background: Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), related to protracted vomiting and nausea, is a common cause of hospitalization during the first trimester of pregnancy. It can be accompanied by ketonuria, dehydration, and weight loss. Our aim was to investigate bone loss in patients with HG.

An Assessment of the Effects of Hydrotherapy During the Active Phase of Labor on the Labor Process and Parenting Behavior.

This study was conducted to assess the effect on labor process and parenting behavior of hydrotherapy applied during the active phase of labor. This quasi-experimental study was conducted by using an equivalent comparison group ( = 40). The participants in the experimental group whose cervical dilation was 5 cm were taken to the hydrotherapy tub.

The Value of Prostate-Specific Antigen in Diagnosis of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome in Adolescent Girls.

Study Objective: This study was designed to evaluate and compare the serum total prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels in adolescent girls in with and without polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) to show whether evaluation of PSA levels have a diagnostic benefit over existing diagnostic criteria.

25-Hydroxy vitamin D levels in premenopausal Turkish women with uterine leiomyoma.

We aimed to evaluate the relationship between serum 25-hydroxy vitamin D levels and the risk of uterine fibroids in premenopausal women in Turkish population in this prospective observational cross-sectional study. Sixty-eight women with at least one uterine leiomyoma ≥10 mm were compared with 56 healthy controls. Serum 25-(OH) vitamin D levels were measured by electrochemiluminescence immunoassay.

Assessment of maternal cerebral blood flow velocity by transcranial Doppler ultrasound before delivery and in the early postpartum period.

Objective: This prospective observational study aimed to identify the effects of labor on cerebral hemodynamics by measuring the middle cerebral artery (MCA) blood flow velocity by transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TCD), and the related factors just before delivery and within the 24 h after delivery.

Methods: The study included 35 healthy pregnant women with a gestational age of >37 weeks who were in labor and a control group including healthy, age-matched, nonpregnant women (n = 24). Demographic characteristics and significant clinical information of pregnant women were recorded.

Introduction: Antiphospholipid syndrome, uterine anomalies, and chromosomal aberrations are identifiable causes of recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL). Herein, our aim is to investigate the relationship between celiac disease (CD) specific antitransglutaminase antibodies (ATA) and unexplained RPL.

Materials And Methods: This was a cross sectional case-control study conducted on 86 women (45 RPL and 41 controls) in a tertiary level maternity hospital.

Background: Serum tumor markers are widely used for the preoperative evaluation of an adnexal mass. Elevations of cancer antigen (CA) 125 and CA 19-9 have been reported in patients with mature cystic teratoma (MCT). The aim of the study is to investigate the relation of serum tumor markers with tumor characteristics in young women with MCT.

Motor cortex activity level is a critical part of the effect of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on corticomotor excitability. Based on homeostatic plasticity, the state of the stimulated cortical area influences the direction of neuroplastic changes induced by stimuli. Owing to homeostatic plasticity, cathodal tDCS (c-tDCS) would likely have a pronounced inhibitory effect on corticomotor excitability during a motor task, compared with the resting state.

Non-puerperal uterine inversion due to submucous myoma in a woman: a case report.

Uterine leiomyomas are the most common benign tumor of the female reproductive tract. Their incidence during pregnancy is approximately 2 percent and they are associated with some complications such as preterm labor, placental abruption, fetal malpresentation, obstructed labor, cesarean delivery, and postpartum hemorrhage. They may develop anywhere within the muscular wall of the uterus, including submucosal, intramural, or subserosal areas.

Management of a multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 during pregnancy: A case report and review of the literature.

Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 1 (MEN1) or Wermer's syndrome is a rare hereditary endocrine syndrome with high penetrance caused by mutations in MEN1 tumor suppressor gene. MEN1 is characterized by hyperplasia or tumoral enlargement in a number of endocrine organs (parathyroid glands, pancreas, pituitary gland, adrenal gland) and it could be hormonally active or inactive. MEN1 is a significant cause of morbidity due to hormone secretion and mass effect.

The association between clinical parameters and uterine fibroid size in patients who underwent abdominal myomectomy.

Objectives: To evaluate if there is an association between neutrophil lymphocyte ratio and tumor markers in patients with uterine fibroids.

Methods: A total of three hundred and fifty seven patients who operated for myomectomy were enrolled this retrospective case control study. Risk factors evaluated were; age, uterine fibroid type, body mass index (BMI), gravidity, parity, preoperative and postoperative hemoglobin difference, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), alpha fetoprotein (AFP), cancer antigen 125 (CA 125), cancer antigen 19-9 (CA 19-9), cancer antigen 15-3 (CA 15-3), carsino embryonic antigen (CEA) levels.

Effect of Familial Mediterranean Fever on Ivf Outcome: A Retrospective Case Series.

Although the in vitro fertilization-intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF-ICSI) has been utilized widely, the management in patients with an autoimmune disease is still a challenge. The aim of this study was to demonstrate IVF-ICSI outcomes in infertile women with familial Mediterranean fever (FMF). Patient data were collected from the cases registered from January 2006 until January 2014.

Effect of topiramate on choroidal thickness and anterior chamber parameters in the treatment of patients with migraine.

Objective: To investigate the effects of topiramate on choroidal thickness and anterior chamber parameters using optical coherence tomography in the treatment of patients with migraine.

Methods: A total of 22 eyes of 22 adults (12 females, 10 males) diagnosed with migraine and scheduled to topiramate treatment for pain control were recruited in this prospective study. Choroidal thickness (CT), anterior chamber depth (ACD), anterior chamber angle (ACA), spherical refractive equivalent (SphEq) and intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements were recorded at baseline (prior the topiramate therapy), first and second month visits for the statistical analysis.

Effectiveness of low-dose oral etoposide treatment in patients with recurrent and platinum-resistant epithelial ovarian cancer.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and toxicity profile of oral etoposide (50 mg/day, days 1-14, every 3 weeks) in recurrent platinum-resistant epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). 52 recurrent platinum-resistant EOC patients followed up in four centres between April 2000 and December 2013 were analysed retrospectively. There was response in a total of 21 patients [partial response (PR) and stable disease (SD)], 12 of them used etoposide in second and third, and 9 of them used it in fourth- to fifth-lines of treatment.

Is lower uterine segment involvement a prognostic factor in endometrial cancer?

Background/aim: The purpose of this study is to investigate the prognostic significance of lower uterine segment (LUS) involvement in endometrial cancer (EC).

Materials And Methods: We reviewed the patients who were operated at our institution between July 2007 and March 2015 with the diagnosis of EC. Tumors localized in the corpus and involving the LUS or localized entirely in the LUS formed Group A, while tumors in the uterine corpus without LUS involvement formed Group B.

The effect of Ramadan fasting on sirtuin and visfatin levels.

Objective: Our aim was to determine how Ramadan fasting effects serum Human NAD-dependent deacetylase sirtuin 1 (SIRT1/SIR2L1) and visfatin levels during pregnancy.

Materials And Methods: Thirty-six patients were included in this case-control study. The patient group consisted of 18 pregnant women who were Ramadan fasting.

Proteolytic substrates of ADAMTS enzymes have been linked to reproductive function. The aim of this study was to investigate serum ADAMTS-3, -13, -16, and -19 levels in women with habitual abortions compared with those in healthy controls.

Clomiphene Citrate Treatment Cycle Outcomes of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Patients Based on Basal High Sensitive C-Reactive Protein Levels: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is highly associated with an ovulatory infertility, features of the metabolic syndrome, including obesity, insulin resistance and dyslipidemia. Serum concentrations of high sensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) were significantly higher in obese than in non-obese PCOS patients at baseline, suggesting a relationship between elevated hs-CRP levels and obesity. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether cycle day 3 hs-CRP levels before clomiphene citrate (CC) treatment would predict cycle outcomes in women with PCOS.

Total oxidative and anti-oxidative status, and ADAMTS-12 levels in placenta previa and early-onset severe preeclampsia.

Aim: This study was carried out due to the discussions in the literature stating that the inverse association between placenta previa (PP) and preeclampsia (PE). The aim of this study was to determine whether total antioxidant status (TAS), and total oxidant status (TOS) and ADAMTS-12 levels differ among early-onset (<34th gestational week) severe PE (EOS-PE), PP and uncomplicated pregnancies.

Methods: In this case-control study, serum samples obtained from 26 pregnant with EOS-PE, 31 pregnant with PP, and 32 healthy patients with uncomplicated pregnancies (control group).

The value of acute phase reactants in predicting preterm delivery.

Objective: We aimed to determine the potential value of maternal serum levels of acute phase reactants in the prediction of preterm delivery in women with threatened preterm labor (TPL).

Methods: Ninety-one pregnant women diagnosed with TPL and 83 healthy pregnant women as a control group were included in this prospective controlled study. All the pregnant women were followed until delivery and obstetric data and the serum levels of acute phase reactants were recorded for each participant.

Evaluation of time lapse for establishing distal tubal occlusion diagnosis during hysterosalpingography procedure performed by using water soluble contrast media.

Background: Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is the most frequently used diagnostic measure for simultaneously determining uterine abnormalities and tubal status among subfertile women. Despite several broader advantages such as availability and increased experience, the subjectivity involved during administration of the HSG procedure itself, and necessary imaging review, decreases the reliability and accuracy of HSG. In this study, we evaluated the time intervals between X-ray imaging during HSG procedure to establish the presence of distal tubal occlusion.

Perinatal outcomes and cost-effectivity of the assisted reproduction pregnancies with advanced age: A retrospective analysis.

We demonstrated the IVF-ICSI results, perinatal outcomes and cost-effectivity of the patients with advanced age at a tertiary centre. A total of 456 patients categorised into two groups according to age: group 1 (n = 158) (≥39years) and group 2 (n = 298) (<39years) were analysed retrospectively. In addition, subgroup analysis was performed according to the 40 years cut-off.
