Pleural epithelioid hemangioendothelioma mimicking pleural empyema: A case report.

Malignant pleural effusion is an important and difficult differential diagnosis to pleural empyema. Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma is an uncommon vascular tumor, which typically occurs in liver, lung or bone. We present an extremely rare case of primary pleural epithelioid hemangioendothelioma mimicking pleural empyema.

Surveillance With PET/CT and Liquid Biopsies of Stage I-III Lung Cancer Patients After Completion of Definitive Therapy: A Randomized Controlled Trial (SUPER).

Despite increased focus on prevention as well as improved treatment possibilities, lung cancer remains among the most frequent and deadliest cancer diagnoses worldwide. Even lung cancer patients treated with curative intent have a high risk of relapse, leading to a dismal prognosis. More knowledge on the efficacy of surveillance with both current and new technologies as well as on the impact on patient treatment, quality of life, and survival are urgently needed.

Risk of cardiovascular events in men treated for prostate cancer compared with prostate cancer-free men.

Background: The effect of lifestyle, anthropometry and cardiovascular risk factors on cardiovascular disease in men with prostate cancer (PCa) remains unclear.

Methods: Using a population-based cohort of 25,436 Danish, cancer-free men aged 50-64 years, we obtained information on self-reported pre-cancer lifestyle, objectively measured anthropometry and cardiovascular risk factors, and linked them to national health registers for information on major cardiovascular outcomes. We assessed hazard ratios (HRs) of incident acute myocardial infarction (MI), ischaemic stroke (IS) and heart failure (HF) among 1546 men diagnosed with PCa treated with first-line active surveillance, watchful waiting, intended curative or palliative treatment compared with PCa-free men during 18 years of follow-up.

Association of CD11b+ Monocytes and Anti-Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Injections in Treatment of Neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration and Polypoidal Choroidal Vasculopathy.

Importance: CD11b+ immune cells have been implicated in the formation of choroidal neovascularization in experimental studies on animals and disease-association studies on humans. However, the clinical importance of such observations remains unknown.

Objective: To investigate whether the proportion of CD11b+ circulating monocytes is associated with the number of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) injections in neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV).

Mapping the lack of public initiative against female genital mutilation in Denmark.

Background: Female genital mutilation (FGM) is a harmful practice prevalent in 35 countries, mainly in Africa, as well as in some Middle Eastern countries and a few Asian countries. FGM comprises all procedures that involve partial or complete resection of, or other injury to, external female genitalia for non-medical reasons. The practice of FGM has spread to Western countries due to migration.
