Purpose: To investigate the differences between dominant and nondominant eyes in a predominantly young patient population by analyzing the angle kappa, pupil size, and center position in dominant and nondominant eyes.

Methods: A total of 126 young college students (252 eyes) with myopia who underwent femtosecond laser-combined LASIK were randomly selected. Ocular dominance was determined using the hole-in-card test.

[A case report of death from toxic encephalopathy caused by emamectin·chlorfenapyr].

Emamectin·chlorfenapyr is insecticide compounded by emamectin benzoate and chlorfenapyr. There is no special antidote after poisoning, and the mortality rate of patients is very high. We admitted a case of toxic encephalopathy caused by oral administration of emamectin·chlorfenapyr.

Background: Significant evidence suggests that asthma might originate from low-grade systemic inflammation. Previous studies have established a positive association between the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and the systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) levels and the risk of stroke. However, it remains unclear whether SII, SIRI and the prevalence of stroke are related in individuals with asthma.

The efficacy and safety of immune checkpoint inhibitors for patients with EGFR-mutated non-small cell lung cancer who progressed on EGFR tyrosine-kinase inhibitor therapy: A systematic review and network meta-analysis.

Background: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients harboring epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutated who progressed on EGFR tyrosine-kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI) therapy have limited therapeutic options. There is still no consensus on the role of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in NSCLC with EGFR mutations.

Methods: We did a network meta-analysis (NMA) with a systematic literature search on PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and The Cochrane Library.

Efficacy and safety of single-pill amlodipine/losartan versus losartan in patients with inadequately controlled hypertension after losartan treatment: a multicenter, double-blind, randomized phase III clinical trial.

Objective: Single-pill amlodipine besylate (AML) plus losartan (LOS) has been used to treat inadequately controlled hypertension after antihypertensive monotherapy; however, relevant data in China are limited. This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of single-pill AML/LOS and LOS alone in Chinese patients with inadequately controlled hypertension after LOS treatment.

Methods: In this multicenter, double-blind, randomized, controlled phase III clinical trial, patients with inadequately controlled hypertension after 4 weeks of LOS treatment were randomized to receive daily single-pill AML/LOS (5/100 mg, AML/LOS group,  = 154) or LOS (100 mg, LOS group,  = 153) tablets for 8 weeks.

[Three cases of acute chlorfenapyr poisoning].

This paper reported 3 cases of poisoning caused by chlorfenagyr. Chlorfenapyr poisoning has gradually increased in clinical practice. The early stage after poisoning is digestive tract symptoms, followed by sweating, high fever, changes in consciousness, changes in myocardial enzymology, etc.

New clinical application of digital intraoral scanning technology in occlusal reconstruction: A case report.

Background: Digital intraoral scanning, although developing rapidly, is rarely used in occlusal reconstruction. To compensate for the technical drawbacks of current occlusal reconstruction techniques, such as time consumption and high technical requirements, digital intraoral scanning can be used in clinics. This report aims to provide a way of selecting the most suitable maxillo-mandibular relationship (MMR) during recovery.

Wound size and location affect the prognosis of penetrating ocular injury.

Background: Ocular trauma is a leading cause of vision loss. Penetrating ocular injury is a major type of open globe injury(OGI), while its epidemiology and clinical characteristics are still uncertain. The aim of this study is to reveal the prevalence and prognostic factors of penetrating ocular injury in the Shandong province.

Comparison of clinical outcomes between laparoscopic orchiopexy and open orchiopexy in the treatment of palpable undescended testes.

Objective: To compare the clinical effects of laparoscopic orchiopexy (LO) and open orchiopexy (OO) in the treatment of palpable undescended testes.

Methods: Seventy-six children with palpable undescended testes treated in Zaozhuang Municipal Hospital from June 2019 to January 2021 were selected in this observational retrospective study. Patients were grouped according to their different surgical methods, 33 patients received OO (Open-group) and 43 patients received LO (Laparoscopic-group).

Background: Arterial stiffness is a significant determinant and evaluation of cardio-cerebrovascular disease and all-cause mortality risk in the stroke population. Estimated pulse wave velocity (ePWV) is a well-established indirect measure of arterial stiffness. We examined the association of ePWV with all-cause and cardio-cerebrovascular disease (CCD) mortality in the stroke population in a large sample of US adults.

Fatty Acid Binding Protein 5 (FABP5) Promotes Aggressiveness of Gastric Cancer Through Modulation of Tumor Immunity.

Purpose: Gastric cancer (GC) is the second most lethal cancer globally and is associated with poor prognosis. Fatty acid-binding proteins (FABPs) can regulate biological properties of carcinoma cells. FABP5 is overexpressed in many types of cancers; however, the role and mechanisms of action of FABP5 in GC remain unclear.

Current status and influencing factors of spiritual needs of patients with advanced cancer: a cross-sectional study.

Background: Spiritual needs have been associated with better physical health outcomes and provide a context for patients to gain hope and significance in coping with disease. This study aimed to understand the status of spiritual needs of patients with advanced cancer and conducted a quantitative study on the relationship between patient-reported physical, psychological, and social influencing factors and spiritual needs based on a biopsychosocial-spiritual model.

Methods: In this study, 200 oncology inpatients from Shandong Province were recruited using a convenience sampling method to conduct a cross-sectional survey using general data from December 2020 to June 2022.

Background: Serum calcium (Ca), vitamin D (VD), and vitamin K (VK) levels are key determinants of vascular calcification, which itself impacts cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. The specific relationships between the levels of these different compounds and particular forms of CVD, however, remain to be fully defined.

Objective: This study was designed to explore the associations between these serum levels and CVDs with the goal of identifying natural interventions capable of controlling vascular calcification and thereby protecting against CVD pathogenesis, extending the healthy lifespan of at-risk individuals.

Background: In recent years, heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) has received increasing clinical attention. To investigate the diagnostic value of diastolic function parameters derived from planar gated blood-pool imaging (MUGA) for detecting HFpEF in coronary atherosclerotic heart disease (coronary artery disease, CAD) patients.

Methods: Ninety-seven CAD patients with left ventricular ejection fraction ≥ 50% were included in the study.

[Six cases of acute toilet cleaners].

The oral toilet cleaners poisoning can result in devastating gastrointestinal tract injuries with the risk of perforation and/or hemorrhage, and sometimes potentially fatal systemic complications and sequelas. It should be given positive treatment. In this paper, six cases of acute toilet cleaners poisoning were analyzed, and the clinical characteristics and treatment effect were summarized, so as to improve the understanding, diagnosis and treatment level of the disease.

Case report: Partial cystectomy for pheochromocytoma of the urinary bladder: A case report and review of literature.

Pheochromocytomas are neuroendocrine tumors that produce catecholamines and can be difficult to diagnose. Bladder involvement is uncommon with pheochromocytoma. Hypertension (sometimes with hypertensive crisis coinciding with micturition), headache, hematuria and syncope, which are commonly associated with voiding, are the most prevalent symptoms.

Aims: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of janagliflozin, a selective renal sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitor, as monotherapy in drug-naive Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Materials And Methods: This Phase 3 trial included a 24-week, multicentre, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled period, followed by a 28-week extension period. A total of 432 patients with glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) levels ≥7.

Role of corneal epithelial thickness during myopic regression in femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis and transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy.

Background: The study aimed to investigate the relationship between changes in corneal epithelial thickness and the outcome of myopic regression after femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (FS-LASIK) and transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy (TPRK).

Methods: This study included 45 eyes of 25 patients undergoing FS-LASIK and 44 eyes of 24 patients undergoing TPRK. Myopic regression occurred in these patients postoperatively from 8 to 21 months.
