Background And Aims: Overexpression of MexXY-OprM efflux pump causes resistance to aminoglycosides in . We aimed to investigate the relationship between resistance to aminoglycosides and the MexXY-OprM expression level in clinical isolates without and after treatment with curcumin and/or phenylalanine-arginine-beta-naphthylamide (PAβN) as the efflux pump inhibitors.

Methods: We collected 100 clinical isolates from hospitalized patients.

Curcumin is known for its antioxidant properties. This study aimed to investigate the impact of curcumin on acrylamide (ACR)-induced alterations in the first-line antioxidant defense of ovarian tissue. Female Balb/c mice were divided into control, ACR (50 mg/kg), ACR/CUR100 (received Acr + curcumin100 mg/kg), and ACR/CUR200 (Acr + curcumin 200 mg/kg) groups, and received oral treatments for 35 days.

The aim of the present study was to fabricate, characterize, and evaluate the in vitro antimicrobial and antioxidant properties of zein/polyvinyl alcohol (ZN/PVA) nanofibers containing 2% and 4% of thymoquinone (TQ), either alone or in combination with electrosprayed ZN nanoparticles containing 1% and 2% of resveratrol (RS). According to scanning electron microscopy analysis, the diameter of nanofibers and nanoparticles increased with increasing TQ and RS concentrations, respectively. The molecular interaction between ZN or PVA polymers and TQ or RS was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.

Key Clinical Message: The manifestations of Langerhans cell histiocytosis can be limited in the oral cavity, including gingival recession, tooth mobility, and bone destruction. Dentists play a crucial role in the early detection and management of these oral symptoms, which can significantly impact the overall prognosis and quality of life for patients with this serious disease.

Abstract: The hyperplastic activity of bone marrow can lead to excessive histocyte proliferation, called Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH).

Our case demonstrated that thrombotic complications such as coronary thrombosis and left ventricular clot could occur even in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients with nonspecific symptoms which indicates the mysterious face of COVID-19. This complex process highlights the necessity of screening patients for COVID-19 disease even with nonspecific cardiac symptoms.

Background: it is now known that curcumin (Cur) has a broad range of biological properties; however, photosensitivity, as well as low bioavailability and short half-life, have limited its clinical application. To overcome these problems the synthesis of poly(ε-caprolactone)-Tween 80 (PCL-T) copolymers was performed.

Methods: the copolymers of PCL-T were created using the solvent evaporation/extraction technique.

Key Clinical Message: Muscular and subcutaneous candidiasis is a rare entity in immunocompromised patients, but it should be kept in mind when we see multiple cystic soft tissue masses in addition to target-shaped hepatosplenic lesions in neutropenic patients. US and MRI are useful imaging modalities for the diagnosis and follow-up of these patients.

Abstract: Soft tissue candidiasis is an opportunistic infection in immunocompromised patients and must always be diagnosed and treated as soon as possible.

The aim of this study was to replace chicken breast by mycoprotein in nuggets and optimizing the sensory and technological properties. In the first step of the study, 14 formulations were prepared by mixture design to evaluate the impact of three binding agents (as independent variables): soy protein isolate, phosphate, and carrageenan on sensory properties. Then, the optimized formulation of mycoprotein nugget (with higher acceptability) was characterized and compared to chicken nugget (control) from texture, color, and physicochemical aspects.

Spinal tuberculosis (TB) is diagnostically challenging, particularly in atypical forms. Non-contiguous multilevel spinal TB (NMLST) is a rare presentation of spinal TB, mimicking spinal malignancies. We reported an unusual NMLST case with a paraspinal and epidural abscess in a young patient with misleading clinical and imaging presentations.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) as therapeutic agents have attracted increasing interest in the past decade owing to their significant effectiveness in treating a wide array of ailments. These polymerases II-derived noncoding RNAs act through post-transcriptional controlling of different proteins and their allied pathways. Like other areas of medicine, researchers have utilized miRNAs for managing acute and chronic wounds.

Deep frying is the most common method used for food preparation worldwide, which can lead to several chemical changes in used fat or oil in frying process including oxidation and polymerization. This study aimed to determine the effect of heating and different storage conditions on the disposal point of four types of the most common edible oils available in the Iranian market without and with the presence of food in terms of acid value (AV) and total polar compounds (TPC). AV and TPC of three types of marketed sunflower oil (especially for frying, cooking, solid vegetable) and ghee heated at 110, 150, 180, and 200°C with a portable oil meter DOM-24 (ATAGO, Japan) were determined.

Isthmocele is myometrial scar tissue that develops after cesarean section delivery. In this case, other more prevalent pathologies delayed isthmocele diagnosis as the main cause of the patient's symptoms. Considering isthmocele is a fluid-filled pouch-like defect associated with infection caused by stagnant menstrual blood, its immunological aspects lead to implantation failure.
