Background: Cisplatin-based chemotherapy as a common therapeutic regimen for cervical cancer patients, is becoming more and more ineffective due to high resistance. This urges the need for introducing novel metabolics such as botanical drugs with the capacity to increase the cisplatin effectiveness. In that regard, here we investigated the anticancer effects of the Cisplatin- combination in cervical cancer cell lines.

Background: The composition of maternal gut phylum in each trimester of pregnancy has been associated with fetal development, separately. Diet is a main effective factor on the gut composition of phylum. However, associations between dietary glycemic index (GI), load (GL) and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) not studied with the gut population of phylum in mothers at the first trimester of pregnancy.

Purpose: Patients with refractory neurogenic bladder dysfunction may require urinary reconstruction due to severe incontinence, difficulty with catheterization, and to prevent upper urinary tract compromise. We evaluated long-term decisional regret and associated factors following urinary reconstruction in spinal cord injury patients.
Materials And Methods: We interviewed patients with spinal cord injuries who underwent bladder reconstruction surgery at least ten years ago, administering validated surveys on bowel quality of life and dysfunction, urinary tract infections, and decisional regret.

Background: Adolescents with a background in families affected by substance use exhibit an increased susceptibility to developing individual substance-related or other mental disorders. Consequently, they represent a crucial demographic for targeted preventive interventions. The current study examined the impact of selective prevention (SP) and family-based prevention (F-BP) measures on addiction susceptibility, affiliation with deviant peers (ADP), risk-taking, and risk and protective factors (RPFs) related to substance use among high-risk adolescents.

Cutaneous leishmaniasis is considered as one of the most concerns of the World Health Organization (WHO). The main objective of this study was to use polycaprolactone (PCL) nanofiber scaffolds in order to provide a topical drug delivery system capable of delivering glucantime (glu) and quercetin (qur) to cutaneous leishmaniasis wounds. First, PCL/glu/qur, PCL/glu, and PCL/qur nanofibers were prepared by an electrospinning method followed by characterization through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).

Cold plasma (CP) is an emerging technology employed to safeguard highly perishable food items, particularly aquatic products such as shrimp. Due to its significant amount of moisture, superior protein composition that contains important amino acids, and unsaturated fatty acid content, shrimp are susceptible to microbial deterioration and overall alterations in their physical and chemical characteristics. Such spoilage not only diminishes the nutritional value of shrimp but also has the potential to generate harmful substances, rendering it unsuitable for consumption.

Background: Mustard gas as a chemical weapon has been used in wars and its long-term side effects are substantial in the human body. This study aimed to apply an extension of allostatic load, known as biological health score (BHS), including the wear-and-tear of four physiological systems (endocrine, inflammatory, cardiovascular, and metabolic systems) to estimate biological health caused by sulfur mustard (SM) toxicity.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, serum samples were collected from two distinct groups of male individuals including 1) 236 individuals who had been exposed to SM gas during the Iraq-Iran war in 1987.

Throughout the recent decades, obesity has become a serious health problem that raises the risk of several diseases, including cancer, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, neurological musculoskeletal disorders, and Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Some strategies, such as dietary interventions, calorie restriction (CR), and the use of antioxidant compounds, have been proposed to improve quality of life in relation to obesity. The goal of this study was to characterize the effects of CR and quercetin (QUER) on obesity-induced oxidative stress (OS).

Background: Studies show that emotion regulation as a special form of self-regulation and schema modes as the basis of different states of awareness affect the behavior and cognition of individuals, which can also affect social adjustment in the sense of establishing a balance between the needs of oneself and society. The present study was conducted to investigate the relationship between schema modes and social maladjustment with the mediation of difficulty in emotion regulation in students.
Method: The participants were 670 students from a medical university who were selected by convenient sampling.
