Background: As lipids are known to regulate macrophage functions, it is reasonable to suppose that a sebocyte-macrophage axis mediated by sebum lipids may exist.
Objectives: To investigate if sebocytes could contribute to the differentiation, polarization and function of macrophages with their secreted lipids.
Methods: Oil Red O lipid staining and Raman spectroscopy were used to assess the dermal lipid content and penetration.

Background: Evidence on the long-term effects of air pollution exposure on childhood allergy is limited.
Objective: We investigated the association between air pollution exposure and allergic sensitization to common allergens in children followed prospectively during the first 10 years of life.
Methods: Five European birth cohorts participating in the European Study of Cohorts for Air Pollution Effects project were included: BAMSE (Sweden), LISAplus and GINIplus (Germany), MAAS (Great Britain), and PIAMA (The Netherlands).

Background: Nickel is a frequently detected cause of allergic contact dermatitis. Ingestion of nickel may lead to flares of nickel contact dermatitis.
Methods: We examined nickel excretion in the urine of 164 female patients with and without nickel contact dermatitis.
