Stroke-induced mortality is the third most common cause of death in developed countries. Intense interest has focused on the recurrent ischemic stroke, which rate makes up 30% during first 5 years after first-ever stroke. This work aims to develop criteria for the prediction of acute recurrent cerebral ischemic hemispheric stroke (RCIHS) outcome on the basis of comprehensive baseline clinical, laboratory, and neuroimaging examinations.

Objective: Introduction: Considering significant gap of convincing knowledge in the field of cardiovascular effects of prolactin and its role as a stress hormone in men precise investigations of these peculiarities has become necessary. The aim of this study was to find out the relationship of prolactin concentration with parameters of arterial stiffness in hypertensive men with low testosterone.

Patients And Methods: Materials and methods: In total 83 men were examined including 27 apparently healthy individuals as the control group.

The study included 64 patients with serous meningitis, in which the heart rate variability (HRV) spectrum, the content of ACTH and STH in serum was studied in the course of the commonly accepted treatment. The purpose of the study was to analyze the dynamics of indicators of functional state of the autonomic nervous system in correlation with changes of adrenocorticotropic and somatotropic hormones in patients with serous meningitis. According to the results, serous meningitis were predominantly moderate in severity, with generalization in the clinical picture dominated through general toxicosis, general cerebral and meningeal syndromes, but changes in the spectral parameters of HRV showed a marked imbalance with a shift in the functional activity of the autonomic nervous system towards vagotonia in combination with an ACTH level increase and STH decrease in serum (p<0.

Astroglia in Sepsis Associated Encephalopathy.

Neurochem Res

January 2020

Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, The University of Manchester, Manchester, M13 9PT, UK.

Cellular pathophysiology of sepsis associated encephalopathy (SAE) remains poorly characterised. Brain pathology in SAE, which is manifested by impaired perception, consciousness and cognition, results from multifactorial events, including high levels of systemic cytokines, microbial components and endotoxins, which all damage the brain barriers, instigate neuroinflammation and cause homeostatic failure. Astrocytes, being the principal homeostatic cells of the central nervous system contribute to the brain defence against infection.

Dipartimento di Scienze Chirurgiche e Diagnostiche Integrate, Università degli Studi di Genova, Genova, Italy; IRCCS Ospedale Policlinico San Martino, Genova, Italy.

Background: The aim of this post hoc analysis of a large cohort study was to evaluate the association between night-time surgery and the occurrence of intraoperative adverse events (AEs) and postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs).

Methods: LAS VEGAS (Local Assessment of Ventilatory Management During General Anesthesia for Surgery) was a prospective international 1-week study that enrolled adult patients undergoing surgical procedures with general anaesthesia and mechanical ventilation in 146 hospitals across 29 countries. Surgeries were defined as occurring during 'daytime' when induction of anaesthesia was between 8:00 AM and 7:59 PM, and as 'night-time' when induction was between 8:00 PM and 7:59 AM.

Background: (Quinazoline-4-ylidene)hydrazides are valued intermediates in modern organic chemistry, as they are commonly used for the synthesis of substituted [1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-c]quinazolines.

Objective: Unknown N-acyl-2-([1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-c]quinazoline-2-yl)-alkyl-(alkaryl-, aryl-) amines were synthesized and evaluated for anti-inflammatory potential.

Methods: The peculiarities of the synthesized compounds structures were studied by IR-, NMR spectroscopy and chromatography-mass spectrometry and were discussed in detail.

This multinational, randomized, double-blind trial, (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier NCT02149121) was designed to demonstrate equivalence in pharmacokinetics and efficacy between CT-P10 and innovator rituximab (RTX) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Adults with active RA were treated with CT-P10, United States-sourced RTX (US-RTX; Rituxan®), or European Union-sourced RTX (EU-RTX; MabThera®) at weeks 0 and 2.

Objective of the study layed in assessment of the pathophysiological relation between cell-mediated immunity (tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) inflammatory cytokine) activation and renal dysfunction in the patients with early rheumatoid arthritis. We analyzed the data from 35 early rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients of average age of 50,71±2,25 years (ranged 18-76 years, 80% of women) with 9,21±0,43 months mean duration of the disease by the time of the study initiation. Urine and blood tests were performed to verify the main indicators of kidney function and inflammation cytokines significant interaction.
