Neurotensin counteracts hair growth inhibition induced by chronic restraint stress.

Exp Dermatol

January 2024

Department of Dermatology and Venereology, Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, China.

Stress has been considered as a potential trigger for hair loss through the neuroendocrine-hair follicle (HF) axis. Neurotensin (NTS), a neuropeptide, is known to be dysregulated in the inflammatory-associated skin diseases. However, the precise role of NTS in stress-induced hair loss is unclear.

Association between blood heavy metal concentrations and skin cancer in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2011-2018.

Environ Sci Pollut Res Int

October 2023

Department of Dermatology, Yuyao People's Hospital, Ningbo, Zhejiang, People's Republic of China.

We aimed to evaluate the associations between blood cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), lead (Pb), manganese (Mn), and selenium (Se) concentrations and skin cancer. This cross-sectional study was based on National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey (NHANES) data. A binomial logistic regression model was used to analyze the associations between exposure to the metal elements and the risk of skin cancer, and further stratified analyses were conducted by gender, age, body mass index, ethnicity, education, smoking, alcohol drinking, and hypertension.

Article Synopsis
  • - This study focused on understanding factors that influence fever and the duration of fever in young children with bacterial meningitis (BM), involving data from 49 centers in China over a span of more than two years.
  • - A total of 863 patients under three years old were analyzed, revealing that certain infections like coagulase negative staphylococcus led to less fever, while conditions such as septicaemia and ear-nose-throat infections were linked to higher fever rates.
  • - The research identified specific factors associated with delayed fever resolution, including infections like Streptococcus agalactiae, gastrointestinal infections, and complications such as encephalomalacia and subdural effusion, which could help in diagnosing and monitoring the severity of the

Objective: The scope of surgical resection for paratracheal (level VI) lymph nodes in patients with Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma (PTC) remains debatable. The aim of our study was to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of prophylactic ipsilateral Central Neck lymph node Dissection (CND) versus bilateral CND at the time of total thyroidectomy for Clinically Node-negative (cN0) unilateral PTC.

Methods: A systematic retrieval of electronic databases, including Pubmed, Web of Science, and the China Journal Net, was conducted from January 1990 to September 2021.

Background: We report an interesting case of bone resorption of vertebral bodies at the operative segment after Peek Prevail cervical interbody fusion. Instability of cervical vertebrae is likely to occur due to increased stress in Peek Prevail implant body for bone resorption. The finite element analysis was used to clarify the biomechanical effects of bone resorption and stress distribution in Peek Prevail implant body.

Background: The cancer occurrence and progression are largely affected by the post-translational modifications (PTMs) of proteins. Currently, it has been shown that the relationship between ubiquitination and SUMOylation is highly complex and interactive. SUMOylation affects the process of ubiquitination and degradation of substrates.

  • Long QT syndrome (LQTS) is a significant cause of sudden cardiac death in young people, often linked to mutations in ion channel genes, but specific familial causes remain unclear.
  • The study analyzed three Chinese families with LQTS and Jervell and Lange-Nielsen syndrome (JLNS) using whole exome sequencing and found various genetic mutations related to these conditions.
  • The research identified five variants in the KCNQ1 gene affecting cardiac rhythm and hearing; it also highlighted the importance of genetic testing for better diagnosis and personalized treatment approaches for patients.

An efficient and novel visible-light-induced oxo-amination of terminal alkenes for the construction of α-amino ketones with easily accessible and green O as the oxygen source has been developed. The transformation possesses the advantages of operational simplicity, a broad substrate scope, high atom economy, and mild reaction conditions. The mechanistic studies reveal that an energy transfer process probably occurs in the initial stage, and the reaction proceeds via β-scission of the alkoxyl radical species.

Eur J Pharmacol

April 2023

Department of Cardiology, Ningbo No.1 Hospital, Ningbo, Zhejiang, PR China; Key Laboratory of Precision Medicine for Atherosclerotic Diseases of Zhejiang Province, PR China. Electronic address:

Sacubitril/valsartan has a noteworthy advantage in improving ventricular remodelling, as well as reducing cardiovascular mortality and the rate of heart failure (HF) readmission. However, clinically, some patients with HF still have low sensitivity to sacubitril/valsartan, indicating sacubitril/valsartan resistance (SVR). A total of 46 patients with HF after AMI (23 SVR and 23 non-sacubitril/valsartan resistance (NSVR)) were selected.
