Background: Surgery is an important treatment modality for patients with digestive system tumors, and perioperative management is crucial for the patients' recovery and quality of life. During the perioperative period, significant changes can occur in the oral environment of patients, such as dry mouth, mucosal ulceration, and oral infections. These issues not only cause discomfort to the patients but may also affect postoperative recovery and treatment outcomes.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are associated with the pathogenesis of human diseases, including atherosclerosis. Here, we undertook to investigate the biological role and mechanism of circRNA E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase (circ-CHFR) in atherosclerosis. The expression levels of circ-CHFR, miR-214-3p, and pregnancy-associated plasma protein A (PAPPA) were measured by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and western blot in human aorta vascular smooth muscle cells (HA-VSMCs) exposed to oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL).

Background: Interruption of blood supply will lead to necrosis of body tissues, such as osteonecrosis of femoral head (ONFH). Vascularization has always been regarded as one of the biggest challenges in tissue engineering. In the current study, a novel device was proposed to reconstruct blood supply of necrotic femoral head.

Two coordination polymers, that is [Zn(pdc)(im)(HO)] (1) and [Cu(pdc)(im)]·n(Hpdc) (2) (Hpdc = terephthalic acid, im = imidazole), were hydrothermally synthesized via the reactions of Hpdc and im in combination with Zn(II) or Cu(II) ions. Compound 1 shows intense blue luminescence and compound 2 shows good photocatalytic activity for the methyl violet degradation under the irradiation of ultraviolet light. In addition, the assessment of the two compounds' application values against Parkinson's disease were carried out and their specific mechanism was tested simultaneously.

Background: Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is the most common microvascular complication of diabetes. Its clinical manifestation is proteinuria, and it is a common cause of renal failure. At present, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEI) and angiotensin II receptor antagonists are often used to treat early DN, and they have good curative effect.

Intramedullary metastasis in medulloblastoma: a case report and literature review.

Childs Nerv Syst

June 2021

Department of Neurosurgery, the First Medical Centre, Chinese PLA General Hospital, Beijing, 100853, China.

Background: Cerebellar medulloblastomas are the most common malignant tumors of the posterior fossa in childhood that frequently metastasize. Leptomeningeal dissemination and distant metastasis have been associated with medulloblastomas; however, intramedullary metastases are rare with very few case reports in the literature available.

Methods: We present a case of a 3-year-old girl with a medulloblastoma who underwent surgical resection of spinal intramedullary metastases.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the expression of microRNA-222 (miR-222) and aldehyde dehydrogenase 1 (ALDH1) in tissues and peripheral blood of cervical cancer patients, and to elucidate their underlying mechanisms of action. Tumor tissues and tumor-adjacent tissues were obtained from 33 cervical cancer patients and peripheral blood was obtained from these patients and 28 healthy subjects. The expression of miR-222 and ALDH1 mRNA was evaluated by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR).

Purpose: Discuss the clinical efficacy of treatment to Chiari malformation type I with syringomyelia under the minimally invasive surgery of resection of Submeningeal Cerebellar Tonsillar Herniation and reconstruction of Cisterna magna.

Methods: 130 Chiari malformation type I with syringomyelia patients, divided into treatment group, literature group and control group, were collected to be treated under the monitoring of ultrasound in the surgery.

Results: 6 months after operation, the lesions were decreased or disappeared, the symptoms were relieved obviously.

Age-related fibrosis is attenuated by aerobic exercise; however, little is known concerning the underlying molecular mechanism. To address this question, aged rats were given moderate-intensity exercise for 12 weeks. After exercise in aged rats, hydrogen sulfide levels in plasma and heart increased 39.

Early occipital injury affects numerosity counting but not simple arithmetic.

Neurocase

September 2016

a The Siegler Center for Innovative Learning, The State Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning , IDG/McGovern Institute for Brain Research, Beijing Normal University, Beijing , China.

This study investigated the effects of early occipital injury on the development of counting and simple arithmetic abilities in an occipital epileptic patient. This patient had obvious softening lesions in the bilateral occipital regions due to viral encephalitis at the age of 1.5 years.

The aim of present work was to investigate the underlying mechanism of vasculature-protecting effects of exercise training in aged rats. Experiment 1: aged rats were given moderate-intensity exercise for 12 weeks. Exercise training suppressed advanced glycation evidenced by reduced activity of aldose reductase, increased activity of glyoxalase 1, reduced levels of methylglyoxal and N(ε)-(carboxymethyl) lysine, and decreased expression of receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) in aged aortas.

Introduction: It is well known that exercise alleviates aortic remodeling and preserves endothelial function in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs). However, the underlying molecular mechanism remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the role of renin-angiotensin system (RAS) components in exercise-induced attenuation of aortic remodeling and improvement of endothelial function in an animal model of human essential hypertension.

Aging leads to large vessel arterial stiffening and endothelial dysfunction, which are important determinants of cardiovascular risk. The aim of present work was to assess the effects of chronic aerobic exercise training on aortic stiffening and endothelial dysfunction in aged rats and investigate the underlying mechanism about mitochondrial function. Chronic aerobic exercise training attenuated aortic stiffening with age marked by reduced collagen concentration, increased elastin concentration and reduced pulse wave velocity (PWV), and prevented aging-related endothelial dysfunction marked by improved endothelium-mediated vascular relaxation of aortas in response to acetylcholine.

Arterial compression of nerve is the primary cause of trigeminal neuralgia.

Neurol Sci

January 2014

Department of Neurosurgery, Yuquan Hospital of Tsinghua University, 5 Shijing Shan Road, Shi Jing Shan District, Beijing, 100049, China.

Whether arterial or venous compression or arachnoid adhesions are primarily responsible for compression of the trigeminal nerve in patients with trigeminal neuralgia is unclear. The aim of this study was to determine the causes of trigeminal nerve compression in patients with trigeminal neuralgia. The surgical findings in patients with trigeminal neuralgia who were treated by micro vascular decompression were compared to those in patients with hemifacial spasm without any signs or symptoms of trigeminal neuralgia who were treated with microvascular decompression.

Objective: To study the expression of NASP in platinum resistance ovarian cancer cell clones (C0C1/DDP).

Methods: The proteins of C0C1 and C0C1/DDP were separated by highly sensitive two-dimensional differential gel electrophoresis (2-D DIGE) coupled with matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF-MS) to identify the proteins differentially expressed in cisplatin sensitive and cisplatin resistance cell lines.

Results: The investigators found a group of the distinct expressed proteins between C0C1 and C0C1/DDP.
