Dilated Left Ventricular End-Diastolic Diameter Is a New Risk Factor of Acute Kidney Injury Following Coronary Angiography.

Front Cardiovasc Med

March 2022

Department of Cardiology, Guangdong Cardiovascular Institute, Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences, Guangzhou, China.

Purpose: Left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD) is a common indicator in echocardiogram, and dilated LVEDD was correlated with left ventricular insufficiency. However, it is uncertain whether dilated LVEDD is associated with increasing the risk of contrast-associated acute kidney injury (CA-AKI) in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD).

Patients And Methods: We enrolled 8,189 patients with CAD undergoing coronary angiography (CAG) between January 2007 and December 2018.

Yunnan, the region hardest hit by HIV/AIDS in China, is also an area with the most abundant HIV-1 genetic diversity. A large number of novel HIV-1 circulating recombinant forms (CRFs) and unique recombinants were identified among injection drug users in Yunnan; however, few were found among sexual contacts. Here, we obtained 15 near full-length genome sequences (NFLGs) from HIV-1 seropositive heterosexual contacts in Yunnan who received antiretroviral therapy during the period from 2014 to 2016.

Extracorporeal cardiac shock waves (ECSW) have great potential in the treatment of coronary heart disease. Endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) are a class of pluripotent progenitor cells derived from bone marrow or peripheral blood, which have the capacity to migrate to ischemic myocardium and differentiate into mature endothelial cells and play an important role in neovascularization and endothelial repair. In this study, we investigated whether ECSW therapy can improve EPCs dysfunction and apoptosis induced by hypoxia and explored the underlying mechanisms.

Although the accuracy of oscillometric blood pressure (BP) measurement is not so satisfied, the BP reading is still associated with cardiovascular events and death in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). Because the currently used auscultatory or oscillometric methods were developed on sinus rhythm (SR), these BP measurement methods were not reasonable for AF patients. It is suggested that the average of three BP readings in the AF patients is accepted in clinical, even so, high systolic BP (SBP) variability and inaccurate diastolic BP (DBP) value have been reported in AF patients.
