Therapeutic effect of Micro-Implant Anchorage in orthodontics.

Objective: Micro implant anchorage (MIA), as a new orthodontic treatment technique, has the characteristics of simple operation, light trauma, and high stability, and has been widely used in clinical practice. This study compared the therapeutic effects of MIA and the traditional straight wire appliance (SWA) in orthodontic practice.

Methods: Clinical data of 119 patients who underwent orthodontic treatment in Yulin First Hospital from January 2022 to January 2023 were retrospectively analyzed.

Longitudinal Stent Deformation at the Proximal Segment of the Left Main Coronary Artery Caused by a Stuck OCT Catheter: Case Report and Review of Literature.

It has been rarely reported that a stuck optical coherence tomography (OCT) catheter can lead to longitudinal stent deformation (LSD). This complication can result in incomplete stent apposition and dissection after stent implantation. In this study, we present a case where a bailout stent was implanted in the distal segment of the left anterior descending artery (LAD) after longitudinal stent deformation caused by a stuck OCT catheter.

Effects of environmental enrichment on GLUT expression in the visual cortex of amblyopic rats.

Objective: To investigate the potential changes of glucose metabolism and glucose transporter protein (GLUT) in the visual cortex of formally deprived amblyopic rats, as well as the effects of enriched environments on the levels of nerve conduction and glucose metabolism in the visual cortex of amblyopic rats.

Methods: 36 rats were randomly divided into three groups: CON + SE (n = 12), MD + SE (n = 12) and MD + EE (n = 12). The right eyelids of both MD + SE and MD + EE groups were sutured.

Background: Hypoxia is a significant feature of many solid tumors and can activate hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α)/vascular epidermal growth factor (VEGF) signaling pathway, which is closely related to the occurrence and development of primary liver cancer (PLC). Silymarin (SM) had been used as a traditional liver protective drug for decades. Recent studies have found that SM has chemopreventive and chemosensitizing effects on multiple cancers.

[Value of Improved Mayo Endoscopic Score for evaluating treatment efficacy for active ulcerative colitis].

Objective: To assess the value of Improved Mayo Endoscopic Score (IMES) for evaluation of treatment efficacy for active ulcerative colitis (UC).

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical and endoscopic data of 103 patients diagnosed with active UC in Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital from January, 2015 to December, 2020. The severity of endoscopic lesions was determined by Mayo Endoscopic Score and the Ulcerative Colitis Endoscopic Index of Severity (UCEIS), and the area of the endoscopic lesions was evaluated based on the Montreal classification system.

Analysis of postpartum hypertension in women with preeclampsia.

Postpartum hypertension including persistent and recurrent hypertension could significantly affect maternal morbidity in preeclampsia. Data on the postpartum management of women with preeclampsia is limited. The objective of this study was to investigate the details of women experiencing persistent postpartum hypertension (PerPPH) or developing recurrent postpartum hypertension (RecPPH) after birth and whether the treatment with anti-hypertensive drugs could shorten the hospital stay.

Background: N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification is involved in tumorigenesis and progression as well as closely correlated with stem cell differentiation and pluripotency. Moreover, tumor progression includes the acquisition of stemness characteristics and accumulating loss of differentiation phenotype. Therefore, we integrated m6A modification and stemness indicator mRNAsi to classify patients and predict prognosis for LGG.

Autogenous bone-guided induced membrane technique in closed/small-sized open high-energy fractures in benign inflammatory environment: a case series.

Objective: Infection and nonunion are the two most challenging issues for high-energy fractures. This study aimed to explore the clinical effect of benign inflammation-cultivated bone growth activity in the treatment of closed/small-sized open and high-energy fractures.

Methods: This study is a case series of closed/small-sized open and high-energy fractures of the lower limbs treated at our hospital from April 2009 to February 2017.

Differential Diagnosis of Preinvasive Lesions in Small Pulmonary Nodules by Dual Source Computed Tomography Imaging.

This study was aimed to explore the differential diagnosis value of preinvasive lesions/minimally invasive adenocarcinoma and invasive adenocarcinoma manifesting as small pulmonary nodules under dual source computed tomography (DSCT) imaging. The patients with nodular manifestations of adenocarcinoma in situ (AIS)/microinfiltrating adenocarcinoma (MIA) were selected as group X, including 14 cases. A total of 31 cases with nodular infiltrating adenocarcinoma were selected as group Y.

CT Combined with Multiparameter MRI in Differentiating Pathological Subtypes of Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer before Surgery.

Objective: To investigate the diagnostic value of computed tomography (CT) combined with multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) for preoperative differentiation of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Methods: CT and MRI imaging data were collected from all patients with squamous lung cancer and adenocarcinoma admitted to our hospital from June 2019 to December 2020 (286 cases). ROC curves were plotted to evaluate the performance of CT, mpMRI, and CT combined with mpMRI to differentiate pathological subtypes of NSCLC.

Ovarian cancer is highly prevalent and has high mortality rates due to metastasis and relapse. The cross communication between cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) and cancer-associated macrophages (CAMs) in the ovarian tumor microenvironment leads to cancer cell invasion and metastasis. However, the role of overproduction of IL-33/ST2 in the CAFs of ovarian cancer is still unclear.

Recent studies demonstrated novel molecular markers can predict prognosis for non-GDG patients; however, these findings as well as pathological classification strategies show obvious limitations on malignant transition due to the heterogeneity among non-GDGs. Therefore, developing reliable prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets have become an urgent need for precisely distinguishing non-GDG subtypes, illuminating the underlying mechanism.

Introduction: Atherosclerosis (AS) is the leading cause of cardiovascular disease. Circular RNA hsa_circ_0003204 (hsa_circ_0003204) was elevated in oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL)-induced human umbilical vein endothelial cells. However, the role and molecular mechanism of hsa_circ_0003204 in the AS process have not been studied.

Protein tyrosine kinase 7 (PTK7) expression has been reported to be dysregulated and to regulate various cellular activities in numerous types of cancer. However, to the best of our knowledge, the status and role of PTK7 in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) remains largely unknown. The present study aimed to investigate the involvement of PTK7 in OSCC progression and to determine the potential underlying mechanisms of action.

By screening for the expression of CXC chemokines in both cell lines, we found that CXCL5 is highly expressed in T24-L cells. The aim of this study is to shed light on the relationship of CXCL5 with epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and cancer stem cells (CSCs).

Multiple studies have discussed the associations between drugs affecting the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and the cancer risk, but their consequence s were conflicting. A meta-analysis of nested case-control studies published regarding this subject was conducted in our study, aims to estimate the association between ACEI/ARB and the cancer risk. Pubmed database was searched up to February, 1 2016 to identify eligible nested case-control studies, and we used Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) to assess quality of the studies.

Background: MicroRNA (miR)-99a-5p acts as a tumor suppressor in several tumors, including bladder cancer and breast cancer, but its biological function in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is poorly understood.

Methods: miR-99a-5p expression was determined in OSCC tissues and cell lines using quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). Cell proliferation was assessed by the Cell Counting Kit-8 assay and colony formation assay.

Evaluation of Palatal Furcation Groove and Root Canal Anatomy of Maxillary First Premolar: A CBCT and Micro-CT Study.

Objectives: This study is aimed at investigating the root and root canal morphology by cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and palatal furcation groove of the buccal root by microcomputed tomography (micro-CT) of maxillary first premolars in a Chinese subpopulation.

Methods: This study assessed CBCT images of 440 patients aged 14-80 years. Based on Vertucci's classification, the number of roots and the canal configuration were determined.
