: This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of the Kaiser score (KS) on the modified abbreviated breast magnetic resonance imaging (AB-MRI) protocol for characterizing breast lesions by comparing it with full-protocol MRI (FP-MRI), using the histological data as the reference standard. : Breast MRIs detecting histologically verified contrast-enhancing breast lesions were evaluated retrospectively. A modified AB-MRI protocol was created from the standard FP-MRI, which comprised axial fat-suppressed T2-weighted imaging (T2WI), pre-contrast T1-weighted imaging (T1WI), and first, second, and fourth post-contrast phases.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) are generally associated with rare cardiac side effects, yet instances like myocarditis can be fatal. Therefore, detecting and managing left ventricular dysfunction early in ICI therapy is vital.

Objectives: This study aims to evaluate whether left ventricular global longitudinal strain (LV GLS) is a predictor for early detection of cardiac dysfunction in patients receving ICI.

: This study aimed to assess the diagnostic accuracy and prognostic significance of staging laparoscopy (SL) compared to computed tomography (CT) and positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) in gastric cancer staging. We evaluated the ability of SL to detect occult peritoneal metastases and influence of SL on survival outcomes across cancer stages and treatment approaches. : In this retrospective cohort study, 95 patients with gastric cancer underwent preoperative assessment using CT, PET-CT, and SL between 2018 and 2024.

Background: We aimed to contribute to the literature by exploring the possible relationship of PV with erectile dysfunction (ED), as in atherosclerosis-based vascular diseases.

Methods: Between October 2021 and December 2022, 99 patients who applied to the urology polyclinic with a complaint of ED were included in the study (Group 1). Fifty-two patients who applied with a complaint other than ED constituted the control group (Group 2).

This study was aimed to identify the most frequently observed pathogens in uncomplicated urinary tract infections from outpatient urinary isolates obtained across seven different geographical regions in Türkiye and to determine whether the antibiotic resistance rates of these pathogens differ significantly between these regions. The study included patients aged 18 to 65 years who were diagnosed with uncomplicated urinary tract infections and had positive urine cultures from March 2021 to August 2022, across 37 different centers in Türkiye. The participating centers were selected based on their use of the disk diffusion method, in line with the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) guidelines, to ensure standardization of urine culture data.

Introduction: Cognitive biases can be defined as dysfunctional patterns of thought formation that lead to incorrect conclusions and abnormal perceptions and are critical factors in the development and maintenance of psychosis. Two self-report measures assessing cognitive biases in psychosis spectrum disorder (PSD) have recently been developed: the Davos Assessment of Cognitive Biases Scale (DACOBS) and the Cognitive Biases Questionnaire for Psychosis (CBQp). This study aimed to validate the Turkish versions of the DACOBS and CBQp.

Background: Malnutrition is a critical clinical condition that requires early intervention due to its potential for causing preventable fatalities and complications. This study aims to assess the impact of outpatient enteral nutrition support (ENS) as a therapeutic intervention on anthropometric measurements, intolerance, and micronutrient values in malnourished children.

Methods: This observational study included 344 patients in ages 1 to 18 treated with standard enteral nutrition (1.

Objectives: To evaluate the predictivity of haematologic parameters and HALP score on testicular viability in adults with testicular torsion.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 139 men ≥18 years of age who underwent testicular detorsion with fixation (n = 90) or orchiectomy (n = 49) due to testicular torsion in five different tertiary centers between May 2019 and August 2023. Demographic, pre-, peri- and postoperative data were analyzed.

Article Synopsis
  • This study compared the effects of continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) and hemodialysis (HD) on left ventricular function in patients undergoing maintenance dialysis.
  • A total of 47 patients participated, with echocardiography used to assess various measures of left ventricular health, revealing that those on CAPD had significantly higher muscle mass and rates of diastolic dysfunction and left ventricular hypertrophy.
  • The findings indicate that long-term CAPD treatment is associated with worse left ventricular function compared to HD, highlighting the need for further attention to heart health in patients on CAPD.

The prognosis for intracerebral hematoma (ICH) following the rupture of a middle cerebral artery bifurcation (Mbif) aneurysm is poor. We compared patients with isolated diffuse subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) (without ICH) following Mbif aneurysm rupture to those with both SAH and ICH to evaluate clinical and morphological risk factors for ICH. A retrospective study was conducted on 112 patients with ruptured Mbif aneurysms treated between July 2016 and December 2021.

: The optimal choice of cardioplegia solution in minimally invasive cardiac surgeries (MICS) remains debated, as prolonged myocardial protection is essential to avoid interruptions to the surgical flow, which can prolong aortic cross-clamp time and cardiopulmonary bypass time, especially in the constrained surgical field. We conducted a network meta-analysis to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the del Nido (DN), histidine-tryptophan-ketoglutarate (HTK), blood cardioplegia (BC), and St. Thomas' (STH) solutions in MICS.

Article Synopsis
  • Previous studies on the use of serial prolactin (PRL) measurements for diagnosing mild hyperprolactinemia (HP) have shown mixed results, prompting this study to explore their effectiveness alongside a new method called the prolactin decrease rate (PDR).
  • Analysis of medical records from 221 patients showed that 153 had mild HP and demonstrated that serial PRL measurements were less effective at detecting HP compared to single measurements, while the PDR provided additional specificity for diagnosis.
  • The study concluded that combining serial PRL measurements with the PDR is a more reliable approach for diagnosing prolactinoma and HP when clinical symptoms are unclear.
