Prognostic information is important for the management of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Our aim was to evaluate Synergy between PCI with Taxus and Cardiac Surgery (SYNTAX) score-II (SSII) for predicting contrast induced nephropathy (CIN) and one-year major adverse cardiac events (MACE) in ACS patients. Coronary angiographic recordings of 1304 ACS patients were retrospectively examined.

Background: Contrast induced nephropathy (CIN) is one of the feared complications of contrast medium-using procedures. Present study was conducted in order to evaluate the value of systemic inflammatory-response index (SIRI) for development of CIN among patients who underwent primary percutaneous intervention.
Methods: Six hundred seventy-six patients with the diagnosis of ST elevation myocardial infarction were included.

Asthma (ASTH) is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the lung airway and leads to occasional breathing difficulties. Previous studies have presented links between allergic rhinitis (AR) and ASTH. Recently, it was suggested that , a NAD-dependent class III histone deacetylase protein, was involved in the pathogenesis of ASTH.

Orthogonal-biplane imaging (X-plane) is relatively a new tooL and provides comprehensive information about mitral valve and left atrial appendage evaluation. On the other hand, X-plane method is a promising method in the diagnosis of semilunar valve pathologies. Below, we report 2 cases, in which X-plane method was used, in order to clarify diagnosis.

The demographic and clinical characteristics of patients who have pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants may differ from their relatives who had related cancer. In this study, we aimed to demonstrate the clinical and demographic findings of patients who had -related cancer and to assess the differences comparing their relatives who had -related cancer with breast, genital tract, prostate, and pancreas cancers as well. The results of sequencing analysis of 200 cancer patients (190 women, 10 men) who have been directed to genetic counseling with an indication of testing from different regions across 9 medical oncology centers were retrospectively analyzed.

Early detection and characterization of new variants and their impacts enable improved genomic surveillance. This study aims to evaluate the subvariant distribution of Omicron strains isolated from Turkish cases to determine the rate of antiviral resistance of RdRp and 3CLpro inhibitors. The Stanford University Coronavirus Antiviral & Resistance Database online tool was used for variant analyses of the strains uploaded to GISAID as Omicron ( = 20.

Background In this study, we aimed to demonstrate the efficacy of cysteinyl leukotriene levels, which play a role in inflammation, in predicting the severity of preeclampsia (PE) and to determine whether this marker can be used as a screening tool. Methods In this cross-sectional analytic study, we classified pregnant women who were normotensive (control) or PE or severe PE (SPE) between March 2019 and July 2019. Singleton pregnant 60 women who met the following criteria for the diagnosis of PE were included in the study group.

Ornithine aminotransferase (OAT) deficiency is an autosomal recessive disease characterized by elevated serum ornithine levels caused by mutations in genes encoding for ornithine aminotransferase, a vitamin B6-dependent mitochondrial matrix enzyme. Gyrate atrophy (GA) is characteristic findings in OAT that characterized by sharply demarcated circular, pigmentary, brain-like areas of chorioretinal atrophy in the peripheral retina. This case report presents rare assosiation between OAT and GA and describes the characteristic imaging findings of this unique, not fully understood clinical entity.

Renal artery stenting (RAS) and its effectiveness in the treatment of atherosclerotic renal artery disease are controversial. Catheter-based renal denervation (RDN) has been shown to reduce blood pressure in the treatment of multidrug-resistant hypertension. In this case, we presented the successful regulation of multidrug resistant hypertension after renal denervation in a patient with renal artery stent.

ncRNAs, particularly miRNAs, lncRNAs and circRNAs, are a group of RNAs which, although they do not encode proteins (however, recent evidence shows that certain circRNAs are translatable), play a major role in regulating gene expression and, therefore, affect multiple cellular processes, in particular apoptosis. Apoptosis is proven to mediate myocardial infarction physiopathology in addition to ischemic necrosis and, therefore, has recently gained great interest as a target to improve MI outcomes. The current work reviews studies that have assessed ncRNAs with the ability to promote or suppress apoptosis in the process of MI and, therefore, may introduce new therapeutic targets for MI treatment.

Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) treatment aims to restore tissue oxygenation by inhaling 100% oxygen in pressure rooms. Although beneficial effects have been reported with regard to re-oxygenated ischemic tissues, conflicting findings have been presented concerning the paradoxical tissue response following reperfusion and/or the different responses of non-ischemic normal tissues to increased oxygen exposure. The present study sought to experimentally investigate the impact of continuous HBO treatments on normal aortic tissue.

Background: The use of cerebral oximetry monitoring in the care of extremely preterm infants is increasing. However, evidence that its use improves clinical outcomes is lacking.
Methods: In this randomized, phase 3 trial conducted at 70 sites in 17 countries, we assigned extremely preterm infants (gestational age, <28 weeks), within 6 hours after birth, to receive treatment guided by cerebral oximetry monitoring for the first 72 hours after birth or to receive usual care.

Gaucher disease (GD) is the most frequent lysosomal storage disorder due to biallelic pathogenic variants in GBA gene. Only homozygous D409H variant has been associated with the cardiovascular phenotype which is also known as Gaucher disease type 3c. In this descriptive study, we presented phenotypic heterogeneity and a novel clinical finding among 13 patients with GD type 3c.

Background: Alterations of plateletcrit and mean platelet volume (MPV) and pathogenesis of chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) have been linked to various inflammatory disorders. The prognostic impact of plateletcrit and MPV were evaluated.
Methods: MPV and plateletcrit levels of both CLL and control group were compared and then in CLL patients, additional diseases, leukocyte count, platelet count, lactate dehydrogenase, Rai stage, progression-free and overall survival, mutations, if any, and chemotherapy, if any, were recorded.

Randomized studies evaluating hypofractionation and conventional fractionation radiotherapy treatments (RT) in patients with breast cancer have shown that hypofractionation achieves similar results to conventional fractionation in terms of survival and local control rates. It has also been shown that their long-term toxicities are similar. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of hypofractionated radiotherapy (H-RT) and conventional radiotherapy (C-RT) on lung toxicity and identify factors affecting this toxicity in patients with breast cancer.

The patient was diagnosed with supraventricular tachycardia in another centre, and multi-drug therapy was unsuccessful to restore sinus ryhthm, so he was sent to our hospital for catheter ablation. We stopped the medications the patient was taking and started using ivabradine.

The frontal QRS-T angle (fQRS-T angle) in ECG is a new measure of myocardial repolarization, in which a higher fQRS-T angle is linked with worse cardiac outcomes. Reverse dipper hypertension is also linked to poor cardiac outcomes. The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between the fQRS-T angle and reverse dipper status in individuals newly diagnosed with hypertension who did not have left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH).
