Background: Scabies is typically treated with scabicides like lindane, which poses a risk for acute neural toxicity. Lindane's prolonged use, particularly in agriculture, is linked to neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson's disease (PD), the second most common neurodegenerative disorder. This study aimed to evaluate whether scabies patients, particularly those treated with topical lindane, are at increased risk of developing PD.

Efficacy of swallowing rehabilitative therapies for adults with dysphagia: a network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

Method: A cross-sectional survey was administered to 310 nursing staff members working in regional teaching hospitals in southern Taiwan. The instruments used included the practice environment, job satisfaction, job burnout, and sociodemographic characteristics questionnaires.

Background: Superoxide dismutase 3 (SOD3), recognized as a potent free radical scavenger, exhibits antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-angiogenic properties. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the protective effects of SOD3 on the vascular smooth muscle cell during atherosclerosis remain unclear.

Methods: Data from 2417 patients treated with GLE/PIB from the Taiwan HCV Registry were analyzed, and pretreatment HbA1c levels were compared with 3-months after the-end-of treatment levels.

Feasibility of Short-Term Use of Ivabradine in Critical Ill Patients Who Have Atrial Fibrillation and Tachycardia.

Background: Ivabradine is approved for heart rate reduction in patients with stable symptomatic heart failure (HF). The United States Food and Drug Administration and Taiwan Central Health Insurance Agency approved the use of ivabradine for patients with chronic stable HF with sinus rhythm, but it has not yet been approved for patients with acute decompensated HF or with atrial fibrillation (AF).

This prospective cohort study analyzed 680 patients with ischemic stroke and 151 patients with hemorrhagic stroke at six hospitals between April 2015 and October 2021. Introduction: In light-emitting diode (LED) and LASER colonoscopy, linked color imaging (LCI) and blue light/laser imaging (BLI) are used for lesion detection and characterization worldwide. We analyzed the difference of LCI and BLI images of colorectal lesions between LED and LASER in a multinational study.

Methods: We prospectively observed lesions with white light imaging (WLI), LCI, and BLI using both LED and LASER colonoscopies from January 2020 to August 2021.

Polypharmacy has become a major health issue for pregnant woman due to the increased trend of medication use during pregnancy. However, data on medication use in pregnancy are limited since pregnant women are rarely included in clinical trials. Our study aimed to investigate the trends of and characteristics associated with polypharmacy among pregnant women in the US.
