Spleen rupture due to brucellosis.

Brucellosis is a common zoonotic infection worldwide; it is caused by infection with the bacterial species Brucella and leads to severe diseases in humans and animals. In Turkey, this bacterial species has not been completely eradicated and is commonly found in animals (such as goats or sheep). Brucellosis can lead to various symptoms, affect multiple systems, and cause splenomegaly in the case of spleen involvement.

Relationship between the AB0 Blood System and Proximal Femoral Fracture Patterns in the Turkish Population.

Objective: AB0 blood groups have shown to be associated with increased risk of several orthopedic disorders such as Achilles tendon rupture and hip osteoarthritis. The objective of this study was to investigate relationships between the AB0 blood system and hip fracture patterns, duration of hospitalization, and amount of blood transfusion.

Methods: Data of 308 patients treated due to hip fractures in our hospital between 2017 and 2019 were evaluated.

The frequency of asymptomatic urinary system abnormalities in children detected with cineurography imaging during angiocardiography.

Unlabelled: IntroductionDiagnostic and interventional catheter angiography of the heart is frequently used in paediatric cardiology. It is also possible to detect urinary system anomalies with cineurography images that may be obtained during angiocardiography. In this study, the aim was to determine the frequency, distribution, and properties of urinary system anomalies accompanying heart diseases, and to find out the effectiveness of cineurographic images in detecting the urinary system anomalies.

Effects of Native Type II Collagen Treatment on Knee Osteoarthritis: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Objective: The aim of this randomized controlled study was to evaluate the efficacy of oral native type II collagen treatment on the symptoms and biological markers of cartilage degradation, when given concomitantly with acetaminophen in patients with knee osteoarthritis.

Materials And Methods: Thirty-nine patients diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis were included and randomly distributed into two groups: one treated with 1500 mg/day of acetaminophen (group AC; n=19) and the other treated with 1500 mg/day of acetaminophen plus 10 mg/day of native type II collagen (group AC+CII; n=20) for 3 months. Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) at rest and during walking, Western Ontario McMaster (WOMAC) pain, WOMAC function, and Short Form-36 (SF-36) scores, were recorded.

Hypothenar island flap: A safe and excellent choice for little finger defects.

Soft-tissue defects of the little finger are challenging especially when bone, tendon or vascular pedicle is exposed because of trauma. The hypothenar island flap is easy to harvest and has a good colour and texture match to the little finger pulp. We present nine clinical cases of soft tissue defects of the little finger covered using the reversed hypothenar fasciocutaneous island flap.
