Brain atrophy is related to vascular risk factors and can increase cognitive dysfunction risk. This community-based, cross-sectional study investigated whether glucose metabolic disorders due to body fatness are linked to regional changes in brain structure and a decline in neuropsychological function in cognitively healthy older adults. From 2016 to 2019, 429 participants underwent measurements for cortical thickness and subcortical volume using 3 T magnetic resonance imaging and for cognitive function using the neuropsychological screening battery.

Background: We investigated whether serum leptin can be a predictor for incident cases of MetS in a population-based study.
Methods: This is a prospective cohort study of 1590 adults aged between 40 and 70 years, who did not have MetS in 2005-2008 (at baseline) and 2008-2011 (follow-up). The baseline serum leptin concentrations were measured by radioimmunoassay.
