The aim of this study was to identify the anatomical feature of retaining ligament and fat compartment on the lower eyelid and infraorbital region using a histological method, and to investigate clear definitions for them which could be used generally in the clinical area. Eighteen specimens from eight fresh Korean cadavers were stained with Masson trichrome or hematoxylin and eosin. The ligamentous and fascial fibrous tissue were clearly identified.

Various materials have been introduced for the three-dimensional (3D) printing of dentures. In this study, the color stability and surface and physicochemical properties of 3D-printed denture base resins with four types of nanofiller particles were evaluated. AlO, ZnO, CeZr, and SiO nanofillers were added to a 3D printable denture base-resin matrix and subjected to digital light processing.

Calcium silicate-based cement (CSC) is a commonly used material in endodontic treatment. However, it has limited antibacterial activity, especially for cases involving primary infections. Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) are recognized for their potential in biomedical applications due to their antibacterial properties and ability to reduce inflammation.

Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMDs) are closely related to the masticatory muscles, but objective and quantitative methods to evaluate muscle are lacking. IDEAL-IQ, a type of chemical shift-encoded magnetic resonance imaging (CSE-MRI), can quantify the fat fraction (FF). The purpose of this study was to develop an MR IDEAL-IQ-based method for quantitative muscle diagnosis in TMD patients.

This study aimed to achieve a better understanding of taste receptor cell development relative to endothelin receptor B (ETB) in circumvallate papillae (CVP). ETB localization was assessed by immunohistochemistry during tongue development of the mouse. Co-localization of ETB with taste receptor type III cell marker, Synaptosomal-Associated Protein 25 kDa (SNAP25), was evident in both the developing and adult CVP.

β-Lapachone is a natural product that can promote ROS generation and ultimately triggers tumor cells death by inducing DNA damage. Recent studies have indicated that the targeting of ferroptosis or iron metabolism is a feasible strategy for treating cancer. In this study, bulk RNA-seq analysis suggested that β-Lapachone might induce ferroptosis in CRC cells.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can be associated with eating problems. However, currently, there is a lack of established guidelines for assessing and addressing eating behaviors in individuals with ASD. This gap in research exists due to the challenges associated with using traditional assessment methods, which may lead to discrepancies in responses and unintentional potential biases from caregivers.

Evaluating tooth mobility is clinically significant, not only for diagnosing periodontal tissues but also in determining the overall periodontal treatment plan. Numerous studies related to tooth mobility have been conducted over the years, including the proposal of various classifications as well as the development of electronic devices for objective measurement. However, there is still no consensus on the measurement methods and criteria for assessing tooth mobility.

This study measured and analyzed chronological changes in temporomandibular joint space volume by compartment following transoral vertical ramus osteotomy (TOVRO) using reconstructed 3-dimensional (3D) images of patients with mandibular prognathism. It included 70 joints of 35 patients who underwent TOVRO between January 2018 and December 2021. Computed tomography (CT) or cone-beam CT (CBCT) was performed before surgery (T0) and at 3 days (T1), 6 months (T2), and 12 months postoperatively (T3).

Anterior open bite can be effectively treated nonsurgically via molar intrusion. This technique, involving the intrusion of posterior teeth using temporary skeletal anchorage devices, prompts counterclockwise rotation of the mandible. This rotation not only corrects anterior open bite but also contributes to a decrease in anterior facial height, improvements in lip incompetency, and forward movement of the chin.

Adoptive immunotherapy utilizing natural killer (NK) cells has demonstrated remarkable efficacy in treating hematologic malignancies. However, its clinical intervention for solid tumors is hindered by the limited expression of tumor-specific antigens. Herein, lipid-PEG conjugated hyaluronic acid (HA) materials (HA-PEG-Lipid) for the simple ex-vivo surface coating of NK cells is developed for 1) lipid-mediated cellular membrane anchoring via hydrophobic interaction and thereby 2) sufficient presentation of the CD44 ligand (i.

Background/aim: Regulatory functions of amyloid precursor-like protein 2 (APLP2) expression in intracellular trafficking of major histocompatibility complex class I (MHC-I) and biological behavior of tumor cells have been reported in various types of malignancies but not in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC). This study aimed to investigate the role of APLP2 expression in the pathogenesis of CSCC.
Patients And Methods: The expression of APLP2 and a key modulator of cancer immune escape, MHC-I, were determined in CSCC tissue samples obtained from 141 patients using immunohistochemistry.

Temporal tendinitis is characterized by acute inflammation often resulting from mechanical stress, such as repetitive jaw movements associated with jaw opening and closing and teeth clenching. Treatment for temporal tendinitis typically involves the administration of local anesthetic or corticosteroid injections. However, the complex anatomical structure of the coronoid process, to which the temporalis tendon attaches, located deep within the zygomatic arch, poses challenges for accurate injections.

Statement Of Problem: Although the emergence angle has been related to marginal bone loss, information regarding the relationship between the transmucosal configuration of a computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) abutment at specific subgingival levels and the amount of marginal bone loss is lacking.
Purpose: The purpose of this retrospective clinical study was to evaluate the influence of CAD-CAM abutment profile angles, measured at different subgingival positions, on the marginal bone loss of posterior single-tooth implant-supported restorations.
Material And Methods: A total of 260 posterior single-tooth implant-supported restorations using CAD-CAM abutments were analyzed in 206 patients.
