In this meta-analysis, we evaluated the differences in cardiac MRI findings and their prognostic utility between confirmed and suspected CS.

S-1 as an alternative treatment after 5-fluorouracil-induced coronary vasospasm in a patient with small bowel adenocarcinoma: a case report.

5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) is a chemotherapeutic agent used worldwide to treat various solid tumors. It may cause adverse cardiotoxic events, the most common of which is coronary vasospasm. Recently, the 2022 European Society for Medical Oncology guidelines for metastatic colorectal cancer recommended S-1 as an alternative therapy after 5-FU-induced cardiotoxicity; however, only limited data on Asian patients are available.

Gut feeling for the diagnosis of cancer in general practice: a diagnostic accuracy review.

Objectives: Diagnostic delay in cancer is a challenge in primary care. Although screening tests are effective in diagnosing some cancers such as breast, colorectal and cervical cancers, symptom-based cancer diagnosis is often difficult due to its low incidence in primary care and the influence of patient anxiety, doctor-patient relationship and psychosocial context. A general practitioner's gut feeling for cancer may play a role in the early diagnosis of cancer in primary care where diagnostic resources are limited.

Nocturnal and circadian intraocular pressure (IOP) fluctuations are important issues in glaucoma treatment. Ripasudil 0.4% eye drops, a new glaucoma medication, lowers IOP by increasing aqueous humor outflow through the trabecular meshwork.

A multicenter cohort study on mapping of lymph node metastasis for splenic flexural colon cancer.

Aim: There have been no reports of searching for metastases to lymph nodes along the accessory middle colic artery (aMCA). The aim of this study was to investigate the metastasis rate of the aMCA for splenic flexural colon cancer.

Methods: Patients with histologically proven colon carcinoma located in the splenic flexure, clinically diagnosed as stage I-III were eligible for this study.

The relationship between the ''Fujisawa point'' and anatomical femorotibial angle following simulated open wedge high tibial osteotomy.

Background: We evaluated the relationship between the weight-bearing line (WBL) ratio and anatomical femorotibial angle (FTA) by simulated open wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO). This study evaluated the correlation between the ''Fujisawa point'' and FTA, and identified factors which caused deviations between the two measurement methods. We hypothesized that the Fujisawa point corresponded with 170° of the FTA.

Can double-level osteotomy prevent patellofemoral osteoarthritis progression compared with open wedge high tibial osteotomy?

Purpose: To compare radiographic, clinical, and arthroscopic findings in patellofemoral (PF) osteoarthritis (OA) between open wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO) and double-level osteotomy (DLO) with the same operative indication.

Methods: After adjustment for patient age, and coronal alignment, 36 knees with OWHTO alone and 36 knees with DLO were compared. Radiographic, clinical, and arthroscopic findings were documented before osteotomy.

The short-term efficacy and safety of insulin degludec U100 (IDeg) in patients with type 2 diabetes have not been reported widely. We compared insulin IDeg and insulin glargine U100 (IGla) for glycemic control and glucose variability in hospitalized patients with type 2 diabetes. In an open-label, multicenter, randomized controlled trial, 74 patients were randomly assigned to either the IDeg (36 patients) or IGla (38 patients) group and were administered with basal-bolus therapy during hospitalization.

Some experimental studies have shown that direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) have anti-inflammatory effects. However, the interval changes in inflammatory markers in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AF) who receive DOACs remain unknown. Between July 2013 and April 2014, a total of 187 AF patients randomly assigned to receive rivaroxaban (n = 91) or dabigatran (n = 96) were assessed for eligibility.

Vonoprazan- vs proton-pump inhibitor-based first-line 7-day triple therapy for clarithromycin-susceptible Helicobacter pylori: A multicenter, prospective, randomized trial.

Background: The eradication rate of vonoprazan-based first-line triple therapy (combined with clarithromycin and amoxicillin) (V-AC) was reported to be 97.6% in patients with clarithromycin (CAM)-susceptible Helicobacter pylori in a phase III study, whereas our real-world, prospective, multicenter cohort study yielded an eradication rate <90%.

The Superiority of Vonoprazan-based First-line Triple Therapy with Clarithromycin: A Prospective Multi-center Cohort Study on Helicobacter pylori Eradication.

Objective We evaluated the safety and efficacy of vonoprazan-based amoxicillin and clarithromycin 7-day triple therapy (VAC) in comparison to proton pump inhibitor (PPI)-based (PAC) as a first-line treatment and vonoprazan-based amoxicillin and metronidazole 7-day triple therapy (VAM) in comparison to PPI-based (PAM) as a second-line treatment for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori in Japan. Methods We performed a non-randomized, multi-center, parallel-group study to compare first-line VAC to PAC and second-line VAM to PAM. A pre-planned subgroup analysis on CAM resistance was also performed.

Differential Regulation of Plasma Copeptin Levels in Patients with Heart Failure: A Single-Center Prospective Study.

Elevated levels of arginine vasopressin (AVP) have been reported to be involved in the pathogenesis of heart failure (HF). Recent evidence has shown the role of copeptin, the C-terminal fragment of pro-AVP, as a biomarker in patients with HF. However, the relevant information is still limited.

Effects of pitavastatin add-on therapy on chronic kidney disease with albuminuria and dyslipidemia.

Background: In non-dialysis chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients with dyslipidemia, statin therapy is recommended to prevent cardiovascular complications. Dyslipidemia has been also shown to be an independent risk factor for the progression of CKD. However, it is still unclear whether statin therapy exerts an inhibitory effect on renal deterioration in CKD patients with dyslipidemia.

Background: The rectovaginal fistula (RVF) is a rare complication after low anterior resection (LAR) for rectal cancer. The aim of this study was to evaluate the risk factors for RVF after LAR for rectal cancer.
