Previous studies have shown that circ_0040414 is highly expressed in the blood of patients with heart failure (HF), which suggests that circ_0040414 is associated with heart failure (HF). However, the functional involvement of circ_0040414 in HF and its potential mechanism remains unclear. Consistent with previous studies, our study showed that the expression of circ_0040414 in the peripheral blood of patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) was significantly higher than that of healthy control, which indicated that circ_0040414 could be used as a diagnostic biomarker in patients with CHF.

Background: Dynamic arterial elastance (Ea) has been extensively considered as a functional parameter of arterial load. However, conflicting evidence has been obtained on the ability of Ea to predict mean arterial pressure (MAP) changes after fluid expansion. This meta-analysis sought to assess the predictive performance of Ea for the MAP response to fluid expansion in mechanically ventilated hypotensive patients.

Mig6 not only inhibits EGFR and HER2 but also targets HER3 and HER4 in a differential specificity: Implications for targeted esophageal cancer therapy.

Biochimie

November 2021

Department of Thoracic Surgery, Huiqiao Medical Center, Nanfang Hospital, Southern Medical University, Guangzhou, 510515, China. Electronic address:

The human EGF receptor family plays pivotal roles in physiology and cancer, which contains four closely-related members: HER1/EGFR, HER2, HER3 and HER4. Previously, it was found that the mitogen-inducible gene 6 (Mig6) protein is a negative regulator of EGFR and HER2 by using its S1 segment to bind at the kinase dimerization interface. However, it is still unclear whether the S1 segment can also effectively target HER3 and HER4? Here, we performed a systematic investigation to address this issue.

Currently, the association between sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor (SGLT-2i) and malignancy risk has yet to be fully elucidated. This meta-analysis aimed to determine the relationship between SGLT-2i and malignancy risk in type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients. We searched PubMed, ScienceDirect, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and Web of Science to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published up to August 2020 related to T2D patients treated with SGLT-2i vs.

Department of Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy, Hwamei Hospital, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Northwest Street 41, Haishu District, Ningbo, 315010, Zhejiang, China.

Background: The prognosis of pancreatic cancer (PC) is extremely poor, and most patients with metastatic PC still receive palliative care. Here, we report the efficacy and safety of FOLFIRINOX (oxaliplatin, irinotecan, leucovorin, 5-fluorouracil) in the treatment of metastatic PC.

Methods: We searched PubMed, Web of Science, EBSCO, and Cochrane library databases for articles that described efficacy and safety of FOLFIRINOX in patients with metastatic PC, from January 1996 to July 2020.

Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative disorder in which activated microglia may appear prior to motor symptoms, but the specific therapeutic mechanisms remain unclear. This study investigated the potential effects of Edaravone (EDA) on M1/M2 polarization of microglia in rats with dopaminergic neurons damage induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and its mechanism. Rats were randomly grouped as the following ( = 10): Control, EDA alone (10 mg/kg), LPS-model (LPS 5 μg), LPS + EDA (5 mg/kg) and LPS + EDA (10 mg/kg).

Background: Lung squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) is a form of cancer that is associated with high rates of relapse, poor responsiveness to therapy, and a relatively poor prognosis. The relationship between long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) expression and LSCC patient prognosis remains to be established.

Methods: In the present study, we discovered that lncRNAs were differentially expressed in LSCC tumor tissues relative to normal control tissues, and we explored the prognostic relevance of these lncRNA expression patterns using data from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA).

Alternol Sensitizes Renal Carcinoma Cells to TRAIL-Induced Apoptosis.

Front Pharmacol

March 2021

Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Pathophysiology, School of Medical, Ningbo University, Ningbo, China.

Tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL), a member of the TNF family, can selectively induce cancer cell death while sparing normal cells. However, the application of TRAIL-based antitumor therapies has been hindered due to drug resistance. Alternol is a new compound isolated from microbial fermentation that possesses antitumor activity in different tumors.

Single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of microRNA (miRNA) (miRSNP) are SNPs located on miRNA genes or miRNA target sites, which have been supposed to be involved in the development of central nervous system diseases by interfering with miRNA-mediated regulatory functions. However, the association of miRSNP with post-stroke depression (PSD) has not been well-investigated. In this study, we collected 54 PSD risk genes manual literature-mining and integrated PSD-related risk pathways based on multiple public databases.
