Patients with primary refractory or early relapsed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) have a dismal prognosis, and the treatment options for these patients are limited. The present study retrospectively examined the efficacy and toxicities of the combination of cladribine 5 mg/m per day and intermediate-dose cytarabine 1 g/m per day for 5 days and granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) as a salvage treatment in 36 patients with relapsed/refractory AML. Among these, 32 patients had de novo AML, and the remaining 4 patients had secondary AML.

Background: Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common esophageal disorder. Transcutaneous electrical acustimulation (TEA), as a needleless method of electroacupuncture (EA) has been reported to improve hypotensive lower esophageal sphincters pressure (LESP) in GERD. Synchronized TEA (STEA) with inspiration has been revealed to be more effective than TEA in enhancing vagal tone.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) represent a new class of noncoding RNAs that is involved in the development of cancer. However, little is known about their role in chemoresistance. In the present study, we found that hsa_circ_0003998 expression levels in lung adenocarcinoma (LAD) tissues and docetaxel-resistant cell lines (A549/DTX and H1299/DTX) were upregulated.

Randomized controlled trial of cognitive behavioural therapy for depressive and anxiety symptoms in Chinese women with breast cancer.

Psychiatry Res

January 2019

Department of Neurology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou 325000, China; Department of Psychology, Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou 325000, China. Electronic address:

Depressive and anxiety symptoms are frequently observed in breast cancer survivors. To date, few randomized controlled trials have been conducted on the efficacy of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for depressive and anxiety symptoms in Chinese population. This study aims to verify the efficacy of CBT in Chinese breast cancer survivors.

Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a life‑threatening disease and seriously influences patient quality of life. Long non‑coding RNAs (lncRNAs), an emerging class of non‑coding genes, have attracted attention in research, however, whether lncRNAs serve a function in acute ischemic hypoxia remains to be elucidated. In the present study, an lncRNA microarray was used to analyze differential lncRNA expression in acute ischemic hypoxia.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the value of shear wave elastography (SWE) for characterization of breast masses in a Chinese population.

Patients And Methods: Two thousand two hundred seventy-three women consented to be prospectively enrolled for the characterization of breast masses with ultrasound and SWE. Breast masses were known from symptoms, palpability, and/or previous imaging screening with mammography and/or ultrasound.

Purpose: Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for depression had been found to be effective in reducing depressive and anxiety symptoms in breast cancer survivors. It is not known whether CBT for depression would also improve insomnia and quality of life (QOL). The aim of this study was to investigate whether CBT for depression would improve insomnia and QOL in a randomized controlled multicenter trial.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate whether transcutaneous electrical acustimulation (TEA) synchronized with inspiration (STEA), a method known to enhance vagal activity, was more effective than TEA in improving cold stress-induced impairment in gastric accommodation (GA) and dyspeptic symptoms in healthy subjects.

Methods: Each of fifteen healthy subjects was studied in five randomized sessions: control (warm nutrient liquid), cold nutrient liquid (CNL), CNL+sham-TEA, CNL+TEA, and CNL+STEA. The subjects were requested to drink Ensure until reaching maximum satiety.

CXCR4 overexpression is correlated with poor prognosis in colorectal cancer.

Life Sci

September 2018

Department of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, Zhejiang Cancer Hospital, Hangzhou 310022, China. Electronic address:

Aims: Colorectal cancer threatens human health due to its high mortality resulting from metastatic progression. The expression of C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4) is absent or low in most healthy tissues but high in various types of tumours. In this study, we aim to determine the prognostic significance of CXCR4 in colorectal cancer.

Department of Experimental Research, State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China, Collaborative Innovation Center for Cancer Medicine, Sun Yat-Sen University Cancer Center, 651 Dongfeng Road East, Guangzhou, 510060, China.

Background: Gastric cancer is the leading cause of cancer related death worldwide. Radiation alone or combined with chemotherapy plays important role in locally advanced and metastatic gastric adenocarcinoma. MDM2-p53 interaction and downstream signaling affect cellular response to DNA damage which leads to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis.
