Background And Purpose: No established early biomarkers currently exist to predict responses during concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) in patients with unresectable non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This study investigated the potential of gross tumor volume (GTV) and its changes during CCRT as predictors of survival outcomes.
Materials And Methods: We identified 227 patients with unresectable stage III NSCLC who underwent definitive CCRT followed by durvalumab between November 2018 and December 2022.

Background: Aortic valve replacement (AVR) has recently been performed at many centers using a minimally invasive approach to reduce postoperative mortality, morbidity, and pain. Most previous reports on minimally invasive AVR (MiAVR) have mainly focused on aortic stenosis, and those exclusively dealing with aortic regurgitation (AR) are few. The purpose of this study was to investigate early surgical results and review our experience with patients with chronic severe AR who underwent AVR via right anterior mini-thoracotomy (RAT).

Purpose: The use of inhaled bronchodilators is the mainstay of treatment for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Although the soft mist inhaler (SMI) was developed to overcome the disadvantages of pressurized metered dose and drug powder inhalers, misuse during handling has been frequently observed in many studies. However, few studies have focused on SMI misuse among patients with COPD.

Background: Avascular necrosis (AVN) is a medical condition characterized by the destruction of bone tissue due to a diminished blood supply. When the rate of tissue destruction surpasses the rate of regeneration, effective treatment becomes challenging, leading to escalating pain, arthritis, and bone fragility as the disease advances. A timely diagnosis is imperative to prevent and initiate proactive treatment for osteonecrosis.

This case report is a unique case of solar retinopathy following antidepressant-induced mydriasis and highlights the need for comprehensive ophthalmic evaluation in patients treated with medications having mydriatic effects. A 49-year-old female patient who had received long-term antidepressant therapy presented with bilateral visual impairment after prolonged sun exposure. Fundoscopy confirmed solar retinopathy, which was attributed to drug-induced mydriasis.

Background: Regularity of menstrual cycles is an important indicator of women's health and fertility, and female workers are exposed to several factors, such as sleep disorders, stress, and shift work, that affect their menstrual regularity. This makes it necessary to comprehensively identify the determinants of menstrual regularity. Therefore, this study identified the factors affecting menstrual regularity among female workers from physiological, psychological, and situational dimensions based on the theory of unpleasant symptoms.

We investigated frequencies of HER2-low breast cancer (BC) (immunohistochemistry [IHC] 1+ or 2+ without gene amplification) before and after IHC conditions were modified in order to understand the impact of IHC staining conditions on frequencies of HER2-low BC. Primary BC cases diagnosed at the Yeungnam University Hospital (YUH, n = 728) or Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital (KUDH, n = 290) in 2022 were reviewed, and data on HER2 status and IHC conditions were collected (cohort 1). Both institutions used the 4B5 antibody for HER2 IHC but had different staining protocols.

Introduction: This cohort study aimed to investigate the factors associated with noninvasive positive pressure ventilation adherence and assess the long-term effects of noninvasive positive pressure ventilation adherence in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Methods: The medical records of patients with ALS admitted to a tertiary hospital for noninvasive positive pressure ventilation initiation were retrospectively reviewed. Pulmonary function parameters, variables of blood gas analysis, the site of symptom onset, the time from onset and diagnosis to noninvasive positive pressure ventilation application, ALS Functional Rating Scale-Revised, neurophysiological index, and the length of hospital stay were evaluated.

Introduction: Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow is involved in brain waste clearance and may be impaired in neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease. This study aims to investigate the relationship between the CSF pulsation and the development of dementia in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients using EPI-based fMRI.
Methods: We measured CSF pulsation in the 4th ventricle of 17 healthy controls and 35 PD patients using a novel CSF pulsation index termed "CSFpulse" based on echo-planar imaging (EPI)-based fMRI.

Aims: The aim of this study was to better understand how the chemotherapy drug doxorubicin contributes to the development of β-cell dysfunction and to explore its relationship with mitochondrial aldehyde dehydrogenase-2 (ALDH2).
Materials And Methods: In order to investigate this hypothesis, doxorubicin was administered to INS-1 cells, a rat insulinoma cell line, either with or without several target protein activators and inhibitors. ALDH2 activity was detected with a commercial kit and protein levels were determined with western blot.
