This article explores the potential link between endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), neuroinflammation, and the development of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Neuroinflammation refers to the immune system's response to injury, infection, or disease in the central nervous system. Studies have shown that exposure to EDCs, such as bisphenol A and phthalates, can disrupt normal immune function in the brain, leading to chronic or excessive neuroinflammation.

One of the reasons of the development of pathologies causing death is hypoxia. The purposes of this study were (1) to study some physiological and biochemical mechanisms of α-adrenoblockers, which ensure the tissue resistance increase to hypoxia; (2) to offer new drugs contributing to the increase of tissues' stability towards the hypoxic affection; and (3) to submit new medications to surpass by their anti-hypoxic activity of those already used in modern medicine and have some advantages. The reactivity of postsynaptic vascular α-adrenoceptors was determined on the damaged spinal cord expressed by the blood pressure increase in response to intravenous administration of azepexole that selectively binds to α-adrenoceptors.

Background: Oxidative stress induced by the excessive production of reactive oxygen species is one of the primary mechanisms implicated in anthracycline (ANT)-induced cardiotoxicity. There is a strong clinical need for a molecule capable of effectively preventing and reducing the oxidative damage caused by ANT. In vitro and studies conducted in mice have shown that melatonin stimulates the expression of antioxidative agents and reduces lipid peroxidation induced by ANT.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an idiopathic, autoimmune connective tissue disorder that primarily affects the synovial joints, causing symmetric, erosive-deforming polyarthritis. It is also associated with extra-articular manifestations, particularly cardiovascular (CV) diseases (CVD). CV risk modification in RA remains unsolved despite recent advances in the management of RA.

Background/aims: Clinically relevant postoperative pancreatic fistula (CR-POPF) after distal pancreatectomy (DP) occurs in 20%-40% of patients and remains a leading cause of morbidity and increased healthcare cost in this patient group. Recently, several studies suggested decreased risk of CR-POPF with the use of peri-firing compression (PFC) technique. The aim of this report was to conduct a systematic review to get an overview of the current knowledge on the use of PFC in DP.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is an umbrella term for developmental disorders characterized by social and communication impairments, language difficulties, restricted interests, and repetitive behaviors. Current management approaches for ASD aim to resolve its clinical manifestations based on the type and severity of the disability. Although some medications like risperidone show potential in regulating ASD-associated symptoms, a comprehensive treatment strategy for ASD is yet to be discovered.

Rationale: The global burden of cardiovascular (CV) and oncological diseases continues to increase. In this regard, the prevention of CV diseases (CVD) before and after cancer treatment is an urgent and unsolved problem in medicine. For this reason, our research group aimed to investigate the possibility of dapagliflozin-related cardioprotection, using an experimental model of chronic Doxorubicin (Adriamycin) + Cyclophosphamide (AC)-mode of chemotherapy-induced cardiomyopathy.

Background: Diabetes mellitus affects many organ systems, including bone tissue. In diabetic patients, the activity of osteoblasts is suppressed and the activity of osteoclasts in the bone matrix increases, bone formation decreases, which can disrupt the process of osseointegration and ultimately lead to disintegration and failed implants. Based on the foregoing, with diabetes, it is very important to study bone metabolism to predict and dynamically control dental implants.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is considered by many the pandemic of the 21st century and is associated with multiple organ damages. Among these, cardiovascular complications are responsible for an incredible burden of mortality and morbidity in Western Countries. The study of the pathological mechanisms responsible for the cardiovascular complications in DM patients is key for the development of new therapeutic strategies.

Escherichia coli sequence type 131 (ST131) has contributed to the spread of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) and has emerged as the dominant cause of hospital- and community-acquired urinary tract infections. Here, we report for the first time an in-depth analysis of whole-genome sequencing (WGS) of 4 ESBL-producing E. coli ST131 isolates recovered from patients in two hospitals in Armenia using Illumina short-read sequencing for accurate base calling to determine their genotype and to infer their phylogeny and using Oxford Nanopore Technologies long-read sequencing to resolve plasmid and chromosomal genetic elements.

Unlabelled: Risk factors for disease recurrence following curative resection for locally advanced colon cancer (LACC) remain unclear as conflicting results have been reported in the literature. The aim of this study was to examine these factors in the setting of developing country's health care system affected by limited accessibility to the multimodal cancer treatment. Patients who had undergone curative colon resection for LACC between 2004 and 2018 were included.

Background And Purpose: Preoperative inflammatory markers, such as Glasgow prognostic score, modified Glasgow prognostic score and C-reactive protein to albumin ratio, were shown to be associated with prognosis in patients undergoing pancreatectomy for cancer. However, little is known about their predictive role in a Western population.
Methods: The Norwegian National Registry for Gastrointestinal Surgery (NORGAST) was used to capture all pancreatectomies performed within the study period (November 2015-April 2021).

Introduction: The accurate assessment and grading of adverse events (AE) is essential to ensure comparisons between surgical procedures and outcomes. The current lack of a standardized severity grading system may limit our understanding of the true morbidity attributed to AEs in surgery. The aim of this study is to review the prevalence in which intraoperative adverse event (iAE) severity grading systems are used in the literature, evaluate the strengths and limitations of these systems, and appraise their applicability in clinical studies.

The infection caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) has spread rapidly across the globe, assuming the characteristics of an epidemic in some regions. Thanks to the introduction of antiretroviral therapy into routine clinical practice, there was a considerable breakthrough in the treatment of HIV, that is now HIV is potentially well-controlled even in low-income countries. To date, HIV infection has moved from the group of life-threatening conditions to the group of chronic and well controlled ones and the quality of life and life expectancy of HIV people, with an undetectable viral load is closer to that of an HIV people.
