Tetracyclines (TCs) are widely employed for the prevention and treatment of diseases in animals besides being deployed to promote animal growth and weight gain. Such practices result in trace amounts of TCs occurrence in water and foodstuffs of animal origin, including eggs and milk, thus posing severe health risks to humans. To ensure the food and water safety and to avoid exposure to humans, the removal of TC residues from food and water has recently garnered a considerable attention.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is a prevalent and aggressive form of head and neck cancer. Emerging evidence suggests that microRNAs (miRNAs) play a crucial role in the development and progression of OSCC. In particular, miR-21 has been implicated in various cellular processes, including proliferation, apoptosis, and invasion; it could be a potential therapeutic target for OSCC.

In the present study, arginine-glycine-aspartic acid peptide (RGD) surface functionalized liposomes (Lips) were formulated for the concomitant targeted delivery of two antineoplastic drugs, namely curcumin (Cur) and 5-fluorouracil (5FU) to breast cancer cells. The Lips' measured size values where 50-100 nm by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and 169 ± 10.2 nm by dynamic light scattering (DLS), which fall within the desired range required for drug delivery purposes.

In recent years, the application of nanoencapsulation has attracted enormous attention for various food and pharmaceutical purposes. In this study, a functional powder containing limonene (the nutraceutical at concentration of 5 and 10 %) was prepared using octenyl succinic anhydride-modified starch (OSA-ST) and maltodextrin as carriers at 15 and 30 %. The emulsions were sonicated at a frequency of 30 kHz and a power of 100 W for 9 and 18 min, and the final nanoparticles were prepared through freeze-drying.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection is among the most challenging issues in the healthcare system, presenting significant financial and hygiene problems with a wide range of clinical manifestations. Despite the hopeful outcomes of Antiretroviral Therapies (ARTs), the current strategies for the treatment of patients with HIV infection have not shown clinical significance for all subjects, which is mainly due to the complexity of the disease. Therefore, the need for collaborative and interdisciplinary research focused on deciphering the multifaceted cellular, and molecular immunopathogenesis of HIV remains essential in the development of innovative and more efficacious therapeutic approaches.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Asthma is a common chronic disease characterized by inflammation of the airways. One of the most devastating consequences of this inflammatory process is the production of reactive oxygen species responsible for oxidative stress. Nasturtium officinale commonly known as watercress has traditionally been applied in Iranian folk medicine to treat respiratory disorders and diseases mainly bronchitis and asthma.

Today, Monoclonal Gammopathy of Undetermined Significance (MGUS) is known as a plasma cell malignancy susceptible to evolving into the life-threatening stage, multiple myeloma (MM), without prominent clinical manifestations. Despite the discovery of advanced therapies and multiple pathogenic markers, the complexity of MM development has made it an incurable malignancy. In this study, the microarray dataset was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database and analyzed using the LIMMA package of R-software to determine differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in MGUS and MM compared to the control samples.

The possible relationship between dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA)-induced polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and epigenetic changes (ECs) leading to the impaired oocyte quality, has not been investigated yet. So, this study aimed to provide an insight into the relationship of the impaired oocyte quality with ECs in a mice DHEA-induced PCOS model and to further reveal the effect of metformin treatment. For this purpose, 80 female BALB/C mice were randomly divided into four equal groups, named as the control, sham, (DHEA) and DHEA + Metformin groups.

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair in kidney transplant recipients may cause ischemia in the transplanted kidney. As a result, various techniques have been described for protection of the renal allograft during AAA repair including temporary shunt, extracorporeal bypass, cold renal perfusion, endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR), and operation without renal allograft protection. We successfully treated a 56-year-old man, a case of kidney transplantation with AAA, using a temporary hybrid percutaneous brachiofemoral shunt using vascular prosthesis with a long 7-French (Fr) catheter sheath introducer (CSI) in the aortic arch via the right brachial artery and 8 Fr CSI in the right femoral artery that were connected together with a 7 Fr guiding catheter, before aortic cross-clamping and repair of AAA using a Dacron tube graft.
