Background: The increased volume in demand worldwide in the present day has led to the need for the establishment of effective ambulance services. As call centers have become the primary contact point between patients and emergency service providers, the planning of the call center has become a key task for administrators.
Objectives: The aim of this study is to apply a widely used operations management method, the newsvendor model, for optimizing the capacity level in EMS call centers with a minimum cost in order to efficiently meet the calls arriving.

The adsorption and decomposition of acetaldehyde and acetic acid were studied on Rh(100) to gain insight into the interaction of aldehyde and carboxyl groups of biomass-derived molecules with the surface. Temperature-programmed reaction spectroscopy (TPRS) was used to monitor gaseous reaction products, whereas Reflection absorption infrared spectroscopy (RAIRS) was used to determine the nature of surface intermediates and reaction paths. The role of adsorbate interactions in oxygenate decomposition chemistry was also investigated by varying the surface coverage.

Objective: Effective planning of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), which is highly dependent on the analysis of past data trends, is important in reducing response time. Thus, we aimed to analyze demand for these services based on time and location trends to inform planning for an effective EMS.
Materials And Methods: Data for this retrospective study were obtained from the Izmir EMS 112 system.

In this study, the thermoluminescence (TL) characteristics of Ag-doped and undoped lithium tetraborate (Li B O , LTB) materials, grown using the Czochralski method, were reported. The TL properties of LTB:Ag, such as glow curve structure, dose response, fading and reproducibility, were investigated. The glow curve of the Li B O :Ag single crystal consists of four peaks located at approximately 75, 130, 190 and 275°C; in undoped LTB, the single crystal shows a broad glow curve with peaks at 65, 90, 125, 160 and 190°C using a heating rate of 5°C/s in the 50-350°C temperature region.

The adsorption and decomposition of ethanol on Rh(100) was studied as a model reaction to understand the role of C-OH functionalities in the surface chemistry of biomass-derived molecules. A combination of experimental surface science and computational techniques was used: (i) temperature programmed reaction spectroscopy (TPRS), reflection absorption infrared spectroscopy (RAIRS), work function measurements (Kelvin Probe - KP), and density functional theory (DFT). Ethanol produces ethoxy (CHCHO) species via O-H bond breaking upon adsorption at 100 K.

Objective: To investigate the effects of salpingectomy and methotrexate treatments on ovarian reserve in ectopic pregnancy.
Study Design: In this prospective study, a total of 131 patients with ectopic pregnancy were divided into 3 groups of methotrexate (MTX) only (Group-1, n: 55), salpingectomy only (Group-2, n: 61), and salpingectomy following MTX (Group-3, n: 15). Pretreatment and post-treatment anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels were evaluated.

There is growing interest in non-invasive brain stimulation techniques. A drawback is that the relationship between stimulation and cognitive outcomes for various tasks are unknown. Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) provides diffuse current spread, whereas high-definition tDCS (HD-tDCS) provides more targeted current.

Child abuse and neglect (CAN), and dropping out of school have long been recognized as pervasive social problems globally, and Turkey is no exception. This study aims to explore the prevalence and incidence of CAN in children who drop out of school of Turkey, using the ISPCAN Child abuse Screening Tool, Children's Version, which is an appropriate tool for multinational comparisons. Data from a convenience sample of children who drop out of school age 11, 13, and 16 from Izmir were collected either by interviews or by self-completion.

Patient delivery time is no longer considered as the only critical factor, in ambulatory services. Presently, five clinical performance indicators are used to decide patient satisfaction. Unfortunately, the emergency ambulance services in rapidly growing metropolitan areas do not meet current satisfaction expectations; because of human errors in the management of the objects onboard the ambulances.

Introduction: To identify dysfunctional attitudes seen in bipolar disorder (BPD) is important for the cognitive theories of BPD and corresponding psychosocial interventions. Cognitions are seen as vulnerability factors in the development and maintenance of BPD. The present study aims to contribute to the cognitive literature on BPD by examining depressive and hypomanic attitudes and their contribution to the prediction of BPD diagnosis as well as by exploring the relationship between dysfunctional cognitions and clinical features (types of episodes experienced, duration of illness, and duration of remission).

Although slow food movement is a well-known movement nowadays, in order to make it more widespread to the society, necessity to develop and to adapt new techniques has become inevitable for healthier consumption age. For this purpose, possibility of increased usage of healthy foods with addition of natural extracts using new techniques came out from relevant questionaries applied to people of different age groups. In this study, specific properties of supercritical carbon dioxide at distinct temperatures and water in subcritical conditions were used to obtain extracts rich in water-soluble organic compounds.

Self-assessment of driving skills became a noteworthy research subject in traffic psychology, since by knowing one's strenghts and weaknesses, drivers can take an efficient compensatory action to moderate risk and to ensure safety in hazardous environments. The current study aims to investigate drivers' self-conception of their own driving skills and behavior in relation to expert evaluations of their actual driving, by using naturalistic and systematic observation method during actual on-road driving session and to assess the different aspects of driving via comprehensive scales sensitive to different specific aspects of driving. 19-63 years old male participants (N=158) attended an on-road driving session lasting approximately 80min (45km).

The self-organizing map (SOM) is a powerful method for manifold learning because of producing a 2-D spatially ordered quantization of a higher dimensional data space on a rigid lattice and adaptively determining optimal approximation of the (unknown) density distribution of the data. However, a postprocessing visualization scheme is often required to capture the data manifold. A recent visualization scheme CONNvis, which is shown effective for clustering, uses a topology representing graph that shows detailed local data distribution within receptive fields.

Terrorism is the greatest threat to national security and cannot be defeated by conventional military force alone. In critical areas such as Iraq, Afghanistan and Turkey, regular forces cannot reach these hostile/terrorist groups, the instigators of terrorism. These groups have a clear understanding of the relative ineffectiveness of counter-guerrilla operations and rely on guerrilla warfare to avoid major combat as their primary means of continuing the conflict with the governmental structures.

This study examined the relationship between negative emotions and variables that affect negotiators' profit. Based on a simulated negotiation, this study induced emotions by providing negative feedback on how negotiating partners perceived and evaluated each other's behavior. Then relationships were examined between negative emotions and emotional regulation strategies, misrepresentation of information, tolerance of ambiguity, and negotiators' profit.

Due to recent advances in DNA microarray technology, using gene expression profiles, diagnostic category of tissue samples can be predicted with high accuracy. In this study, we discuss shortcomings of some existing gene expression profile classification methods and propose a new approach based on linear Bayesian classifiers. In our approach, we first construct gene-level linear classifiers to identify genes that provide high class-prediction accuracies, i.

Detection and quantification of sleep arousals is an important issue, as the frequent arousals are known to reduce the quality of sleep and cause daytime sleepiness. In typical sleep staging, electroencephalograph (EEG) is the core signal and based on the visual inspection of the frequency content of EEG, non-rapid eye movement sleep is staged into four somewhat rough categories. In this study, we aimed at developing a continuous marker based on a more rigorous spectral analysis of EEG to measure or quantify the depth of sleep.

Brain is one of the most critical organs of the body. Synchronous neuronal discharges generate rhythmic potential fluctuations, which can be recorded from the scalp through electroencephalography. The electroencephalogram (EEG) can be roughly defined as the mean electrical activity measured at different sites of the head.
