The aim of the study was to reveal the effect of neurostimulation with the TKPRPGP neuropeptide on the expression intensity of Doublecortin and Nestin in the olfactory bulb of white Wistar rats using immunohistochemical and computer analysis methods. An isolated assessment of early progenitor differentiation by the density of nestin-positive structures showed that stimulation from birth to 14 days preserves the level of nestin expression, preventing its decrease. When the administration of the neuropeptide is stopped, the expression of nestin decreases sharply, starting from the central zones of the bulb, and after three weeks it is no longer present.

Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the top ten causes of death worldwide. Improvement of the treatment options via development of new drugs and treatment regimens that would be more convenient for patients is one of key options of improving the effecacy of the TB prevention and careis. Since the creation of new treatment regimens by minimizing the number of the drugs used and reducing the duration of treatment is the most promising and correct direction, macozinone, a new candidate of the benzothiazinone series, can become the basis for development of new chemotherapy regimens for drug-resistant forms of TB including the combination of macozinone with the most effective modern anti-TB drugs.

Background: An accumulating body of literature indicates that magnesium deficiency is associated with a number of hormone-related conditions (HRC) in women, and epidemiological studies are needed to assess its prevalence and risk factors. Here, we present a secondary analysis of data pooled from four large observational studies that assessed magnesium deficiency among pregnant women and women with HRC across the Russian Federation.

Methods: The main objective of this analysis was to estimate the prevalence of magnesium deficiency in this population and to describe risk factors and comorbidities associated with low serum magnesium.

Fermentable oligo-, di-, monosacc harides, and polyols (FODMAP) are a large class of small nondigestible carbohydrates, which are poorly absorbed in the small bowel. The microscopic size, high osmotic activity, and the higher fermentation of unabsorbed FODMAPs by colonic bacteria lead to bloating, abdominal pain, and flatulence in patients with irritable bowel syndrome. Therefore, low FODMAP diet appears to be promising treatment approach in the management of patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Magnesium Status and Stress: The Vicious Circle Concept Revisited.

Nutrients

November 2020

Medical Affairs Department, Consumer HealthCare, Sanofi, Gentilly, 94250 Paris, France.

Magnesium deficiency and stress are both common conditions among the general population, which, over time, can increase the risk of health consequences. Numerous studies, both in pre-clinical and clinical settings, have investigated the interaction of magnesium with key mediators of the physiological stress response, and demonstrated that magnesium plays an inhibitory key role in the regulation and neurotransmission of the normal stress response. Furthermore, low magnesium status has been reported in several studies assessing nutritional aspects in subjects suffering from psychological stress or associated symptoms.

The hypothalamus is involved in the regulation of rhythms, autonomic, endocrine, and behavioral functions and may also participate in aging development and control. The aim of this work was to study the expression of calbindin (CB) and calretinin (CR) in the ventromedial (VMH) and dorsomedial (DMH) hypothalamic nuclei in young and old rats of both sexes by immunohistochemistry and western blotting. In young animals, the largest number of CB-immunoreactive (IR) neurons was detected in the ventral part of DMH (DMHv) and smaller percentage was found in its dorsal part (DMHd), in the dorsomedial part of the VMH (VMHdm) and in the ventrolateral part of the VMH (VMHvl).

Endothelial dysfunction is recognized as one of the leading factors in the pathogenesis of diseases of the central nervous system of various etiologies. Numerous studies have shown the role of hyperhomocysteinemia in the development of endothelial dysfunction and the prothrombogenic state. The most important condition in the development of multiple sclerosis (MS) is a dysregulation of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and transendothelial leukocyte migration.

Introduction: Vascular changes, including destabilization of the blood-brain barrier, are common pathological signs in multiple sclerosis (MS). There are prerequisites, which indicate the direct effects of disease modifying therapy (DMT) on the state of the vascular wall and reduce the damage to the endothelium in MS.

Aim Of This Study: Was to identify and evaluate the relationship of endothelial dysfunction in patients with multiple sclerosis with used DMT.

Unlabelled: Tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease, usually localized in the respiratory system and representing one of the most important global social and biomedical health problems associated with the spread of therapy-resistant forms (multidrug-resistant and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis). One of the most promising targets for the development of antimycobacterial drugs is the enzyme DprE1, which is involved in the synthesis of the cell wall of mycobacteria. In the series of DprE1 inhibitor drugs, the most advanced drug is PBTZ169 (INN maсozinone).
