Background: As the incidence and prevalence of Atrial Fibrillation (AF) proliferate worldwide, the condition has become the epicenter of a plethora of ECG diagnostic research. In recent diagnostic methodologies, Morse Continuous Wavelet Transform (MsCWT) is a feature extraction technique utilized to draw out distinctive attributes of ECG signals. In our study, we explore the employment of MsCWT in the classification of AF with ECG signals in a continuum.

Prior research has indicated that adopting strict glycemic control measures might elevate the risk of hypoglycemia and result in higher mortality rates among critically ill patients. However, there is a lack of studies investigating the incidence of hypoglycemia and its consequential outcomes in real-world clinical settings. This retrospective cohort study was conducted at Taichung Veterans General Hospital, utilizing critical care databases covering the period from 2015 to 2020.

Addition of pembrolizumab to neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by adjuvant pembrolizumab improved outcomes in patients with high-risk, early-stage, triple-negative breast cancer. However, whether the addition of neoadjuvant pembrolizumab to chemotherapy would improve outcomes in high-risk, early-stage, estrogen receptor-positive/human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (ER/HER2) breast cancer remains unclear. We conducted a double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 3 study (KEYNOTE-756) in which patients with previously untreated ER/HER2 grade 3 high-risk invasive breast cancer (T1c-2 (≥2 cm), cN1-2 or T3-4, cN0-2) were randomly assigned (1:1) to neoadjuvant pembrolizumab 200 mg or placebo Q3W given with paclitaxel QW for 12 weeks, followed by four cycles of doxorubicin or epirubicin plus cyclophosphamide Q2W or Q3W.

Although the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index has been established as a valuable predictor for cardiovascular disease (CVD) and cardiovascular mortality, there is limited research exploring its association with all-cause or CVD mortality specifically in adults with diabetes aged < 65 years without cardiovascular disease. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the TyG index and both all-cause and CVD mortality in this population within the United States. Our study recruited 1778 adults with diabetes aged < 65 years without cardiovascular disease from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2003-2018.

The biomedical community is increasingly invested in capturing all genetic variants across human genomes, interpreting their functional consequences and translating these findings to the clinic. A crucial component of this endeavour is the discovery and characterization of structural variants (SVs), which are ubiquitous in the human population, heterogeneous in their mutational processes, key substrates for evolution and adaptation, and profound drivers of human disease. The recent emergence of new technologies and the remarkable scale of sequence-based population studies have begun to crystalize our understanding of SVs as a mutational class and their widespread influence across phenotypes.

The ribotoxic stress response is a pathway that gets activated when ribosomes get impaired, leading to disruptions in protein synthesis, increased inflammatory signaling, and cell death if left unresolved. Taraxacum can induce apoptosis-associated ribosomal RNA (rRNA) cleavage, however, the exact working mechanism of Taraxacum-induced rRNA cleavage remains unclear. In this study, we used the RNA integrity (RIN) value and 28S/18S ratio to confirm the integrity of experiments.

Dry eye disease (DED) is a prevalent inflammatory condition significantly impacting quality of life, yet lacks effective pharmacological therapies. Herein, we proposed a novel approach to modulate the inflammation through metabolic remodeling, thus promoting dry eye recovery. Our study demonstrated that co-treatment with mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and thymosin beta-4 (Tβ4) yielded the best therapeutic outcome against dry eye, surpassing monotherapy outcomes.

Reproductive hormones associated with the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis are closely linked to bone homeostasis. In this study, we demonstrate that Gonadotropin inhibitory hormone (GnIH, one of the key reproductive hormones upstream of the HPG axis) plays an indispensable role in regulating bone homeostasis and maintaining bone mass. We find that deficiency of GnIH or its receptor Gpr147 leads to a significant reduction in bone mineral density (BMD) in mice primarily by enhancement of osteoclast activation in vivo and in vitro.
