As the fifth most common type of malignant cancers globally, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the second leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. As a long-time medicinal herb in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Scutellariae Barbatae Herba (SBH) has also been used for treating various cancers including HCC, but its underlying mechanisms have not been completely clarified. Presently, an innovative network-pharmacology platform was introduced to systematically elucidate the pharmacological mechanisms of SBH against HCC, adopting active ingredients prescreening, target fishing, and network analysis.

Forkhead box N3 (FOXN3) has been reported to be downregulated in numerous cancers, including laryngeal, oral squamous cell and hepatocellular carcinomas, and diffuse large B‑cell lymphoma. FOXN3 was proposed to serve as a tumor suppressor; however, the function of FOXN3 in osteosarcoma (OS) remains unknown. The present study suggested that FOXN3 was notably downregulated in OS tissues compared with in adjacent normal tissues, and the expression of FOXN3 was negatively correlated with tumor size, metastasis and tumor, node and metastasis stage.

Statins have multiple anti lipid effects, such as anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidation and anti arteriosclerosis, which are beneficial to improve cardiac function. Statins can effectively improve left ventricular remodeling and protect ventricular diastolic function. In this study, the effects of statin therapy on diastolic function and BNP level and exercise tolerance after exercise were observed by statins in patients with diastolic dysfunction.

BACKGROUND We investigated whether microRNA-155-5p is involved in the differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) into alveolar type II epithelial (AT II) cells by regulating the Wnt signaling pathway, thus participating in the development of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). MATERIAL AND METHODS Serum levels of microRNA-155-5p in 50 ARDS patients and 50 normal controls were detected by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). Marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MCSs) were isolated from mouse bone marrow and identified by flow cytometry.

The synergistic effects of docetaxel (DTX) combined with carboplatin in the treatment of retinoblastoma (RB) was explored in mouse RB xenografts compared with carboplatin alone and DTX alone groups. Retinoblastoma Y-79 cells (4.0×10/ml) were injected into the vitreous body of the right eye of mice to establish the mouse model of RB xenografts.

Background: Multidrug resistance (MDR) frequently contributes to the failure of chemotherapeutic treatments in patients diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Revealing the molecular mechanism of MDR is indispensable for the development of effective chemotherapeutic drugs.

Purpose: Due to the low-toxicity modulators to inhibit MDR, we considered that Kanglaite (KLT) is a potential agent for reversing MDR in HCC.

Aims: To investigate histological, immunohistochemical, and molecular features, especially uncommon morphology of hyalinizing clear cell carcinoma (HCCC) to expand the morphological spectrum of HCCC.

Methods And Results: We examined 5 cases of HCCC by histological, immunohistochemical, and molecular analysis. Generally, 5 HCCC cases shared similar characteristics, exhibiting clear to slightly eosinophilic cells arranged in cords, nests, islands, or trabeculae with a hyalinized stroma, while myxoid stroma, perineural invasion, and polygonal cells with high-grade nuclei were observed in 3 cases.

This study aims to investigate the effects of microRNA-335-5p (miR-335-5p) on lower-extremity deep vein thrombosis (LEDVT) by targeting PAI-1 through the TLR4 signaling pathway in rat models. siRNA, mimic, and inhibitor were used for transfection. The miR-335-5p expression was detected by in situ hybridization.

Effects of zerumbone on chronic gastritis remain unclear. The purpose of this study was to investigate the mechanism of the protective effect of zerumbone on the treatment of chronic gastritis in rats. The animal models of chronic gastritis in rats were established, and the surface damage of gastric mucosa was observed by gross anatomy; the changes of gastric mucosal tissue and surface morphology were observed by pathological sections of gastric mucosal tissues; the expressions of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf-2) proteins of gastric mucosal tissues in each group were detected by western blot analysis; the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) as well as the contents of reduced glutathione (GSH) and malondialdehyde (MDA) in gastric mucosal tissues were detected by kits.

Cerebral stroke is a leading cause of death and permanent disability. The current therapeutic outcome of ischemic stroke (>85% of all strokes) is very poor, thus novel therapeutic drug is urgently needed. In vitro cell model of ischemia was established by oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) and in vivo animal model of ischemia was established by middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO).

The immune system plays a critical role in exerts effects in the growth and progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which needs interacting approaches for effective therapy. In this study, we have found that the Norcantharidin (NCTD) + Coix lacryma-jobi seed oil (CLSO) combination exhibited more potent antitumor effects in an terms of cytotoxicity and apoptotic induction in human HepG2 and HepG2/ADM cells than NCTD or CLSO alone. In vivo, administration of NCTD+CLSO combinations significantly suppressed the formation of tumor in Hepal-1 hepatoma-bearing mice.

Increasing evidence has demonstrated that aberrant microRNAs (miRNAs) play important roles in the pathogenesis of most human malignancies. The purpose of this study was to explore the role of miR-30b-5p in human RCC. In the current study, we firstly found that the expression levels of miR-30b-5p were lower in both RCC tissues and cell lines.
