In preliminary experiments, it was found that the expression of early growth response-1 (Egr-1) was upregulated during the committed differentiation of leukemia cells into monocytes/macrophages. The cross-analysis of gene chip detection and database prediction indicated that Egr-1 was associated with upstream microRNA (miR)-let-7c-3p, thus the present study focused on the role of the miR-let-7c-3p/Egr-1 signaling axis in the committed differentiation of leukemia cells into monocytes/macrophages. Phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) was used to induce the directed differentiation of human K562 leukemia cells into monocytes/macrophages and the differentiation of K562 leukemia cells was determined by cell morphology observation and expression of differentiation antigens CD11b and CD14 by flow cytometry.

Patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) are characterized by augmented oxidative stress (OS) due to the imbalance between the generation of increased concentrations of oxidative molecules and decreased antioxidant capacity. Vitamin E-coated dialyzer membranes (VEMs) have previously been reported to alleviate the imbalance of redox metabolism in patients with ESRD undergoing hemodialysis (HD); however, their effect on the deformability of red blood cells (RBCs) remains unknown. In the present study, 48 patients with ESRD undergoing HD were enrolled and randomly assigned into two groups: HD with VEMs (VEM group; n=24) and HD with polysulfone dialyzer membranes (PM group; n=24), and another 24 healthy volunteers served as the control group.

MRI-based radiomics for the diagnosis of triple-negative breast cancer: a meta-analysis.

Clin Radiol

September 2022

Department of Radiology, Southwest Hospital, Third Military Medical University (Army Medical University), Chongqing 400038, China. Electronic address:

Aim: To analyse the diagnostic value of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based radiomics for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) by conducting a meta-analysis.

Materials And Methods: A comprehensive search was performed to identify relevant English articles concerning the MRI-based radiomics diagnosis of TNBC (from the date of database establishment to November 2021). The pooled sensitivity (SEN), pooled specificity (SPE), positive likelihood ratio (LR+), negative likelihood ratio (LR-), diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) with 95% confidence interval (CI), summary receiver operating characteristic (SROC) curve and area under the curve (AUC) for the accuracy of MRI-based radiomics in the diagnosis of TNBC were calculated.

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are rare malignancies that begin in specific cells in the GI tract's (also known as the digestive tract's) wall. The microenvironment of gastrointestinal cancers has gotten a lot of interest in the last decade. There are various obstacles connected with providing care to individuals with gastrointestinal cancers, especially the elderly.

In clinical anesthesia and the rescue of critically ill patients, arterial puncture and catheterization are the most commonly chosen ways to establish central arterial access for patients. Invasive arterial puncture and catheterization facilitate the grasp of real-time vital sign information of patients during surgery, which strengthens patient monitoring during surgery and improves safety. However, the traditional method of arterial puncture and cannulation through palpation of the radial artery is often prone to complications related to mechanical injury, such as hemorrhage, hematoma, and accidental perforation of the artery.

This study focused on the application value of the newly prepared 129Xe nanoprobe-based functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) in exploring the mechanism of the acupuncture treatment for intractable facial paralysis, expected to provide a theoretical reference for the mechanism of acupuncture for the treatment of facial paralysis. In this study, 30 patients with intractable peripheral facial paralysis (experimental group) and 30 healthy volunteers (control group) were selected. All patients were scanned by the newly prepared 129Xe nanoprobe-based fMRI technology, and then brain functional status data and rating data were collected.

Hypoxia-ischemia brain damage (HIBD) is a leading cause of neonatal death worldwide, which significantly influences the development of newborns; however, effective treatment strategies remain limited. Recent studies have discovered that microRNAs (miRNAs) play essential roles in the progression of HIBD. Our study was designed to explore whether miR-17-5p was involved in the pathological development of HIBD.

Euphorbia angustifolia lactone B inhibits A549 proliferation and induces apoptosis.

Pak J Pharm Sci

November 2021

Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Yuhuangding Hospital, Yantai, Shandong, PR China.

The study is to investigate the effect of Euphorbia angustifolia lactone B (Jolkinolide B, JB) on the proliferation and apoptosis of A549 cells. The proliferation of A549 cells was detected by tetramethyl azothiolide. Activity changes of intracellular caspase-3, 8, 9 were determined by spectrophotometry.

Introduction: Preeclampsia (PE) is one of the leading causes of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality worldwide. The regular growth, migration and invasion of villous trophoblast cells contribute to placental development. The objective of this study was to investigate the role and mechanism of circular RNA homeodomain interacting protein kinase 3 (circHIPK3) in the biological functions of trophoblast cells.

To analyze the clinical data of acute copper sulphate poisoning, and discuss the timing and prognosis of the treatment. The clinical data of a case of acute copper sulphate poisoning treated in Yantaishan Hospital in May 2020 were analyzed, and CNKI, Weipu database and Wanfang database were retrieved with "copper sulfate""poisoning" and "blood purification" as search terms respectively. Such as "copper sulphate/cupric sulfate""poisoning" and "blood purification " were respectively tested in the PubMed database and reviewed the literatures.

High S100A7 expression is associated with early muscle invasion and poor survival in bladder carcinoma.

Ann Diagn Pathol

February 2022

Department of Urology, Xuzhou Central Hospital, Xuzhou, China; Department of Clinical Medicine, Xuzhou Medical University, Xuzhou, China; Medical College of Soochow University, Suzhou, China; College of Life Sciences, Jiangsu Normal University, Xuzhou, China. Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • * The study analyzed four gene datasets to identify 645 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) linked to MIBC, which were found to be enriched in various pathways like cell cycle and DNA replication, highlighting S100A7 as a key gene associated with worse survival outcomes in bladder cancer patients.
  • * S100A7 showed increased expression at the T2 stage of muscle invasion and was linked to poorer overall survival, with co-expressed genes revealing significant involvement in the IL-17 pathway and
