Background: Cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM) is a clinically symptomatic condition due to spinal cord compression, leading to spinal cord dysfunction. Surgical decompression is the main treatment of CSM, but the mechanisms of axonal regeneration after surgical decompression are still fragmentary.

Methods: In a rat model of CSM, the cacna2d2 (α2δ2) expression levels in anterior horn of spinal cord were observed following compression and decompression by western blot and immunofluorescence.

Gendered burdens and impacts of SARS-CoV-2: a review.

Health Care Women Int

March 2021

Department of Tourism, Hospitality and Marketing, Curtin University Malaysia, Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia.

Using the SRQR EQUATOR checklist, we review the gendered burdens and impacts of SARS-CoV-2. Although men are primarily detected to be slightly more vulnerable in succumbing to the ongoing COVID-19 contagion, many researchers have recognized that women are facing more of the devastating brunt in secondary terms. Aside gendered health and social impacts, women are more disproportionately disadvantaged than men in economic terms, as they are predominantly found in the part-time and informal occupations, which have been closed down for months now since the emergence of the current global crisis.

February 2021

School of Information Science and Engineering, Lanzhou University, Lanzhou, People's Republic of China.

Apolipoprotein E 4 Allele (APOE 4) is an important factors in Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer's disease(AD). It plays a primary role in abnormal modification of aggregated Tau protein-paired helical filaments Tau (PHF-Tau). In this study, 143 subjects with PHF-Tau PET were divided into 2 groups (APOE 4 carriers and noncarriers).

To investigate the efficiency of high ligation, great saphenous vein stripping and subfascial perforator vein surgery for treating great saphenous vein varicosis under the assistance of sterilized electric pneumatic tourniquet and Esmarchs bandage. In total, 274 patients confirmed with primary varicosis between January 2014 and November 2017 were included in this study. Patients were divided intoAfter surgery, the affected limbs in both groups were wrapped up using the elastic bandage for 2 weeks, followed by wearing elastic stocking for 6 months.

This study aimed at investigating the prevalence of anxiety and depression, and their risk factors as well as their correlation with prognosis in refractory or relapsed (R/R) acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients.A total of 180 R/R AML patients were enrolled and their anxiety and depression were assessed by Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) before treatment. Besides, HADS was also evaluated in 180 de novo AML patients prior treatment and 180 healthy controls (HCs), respectively.

Background: This study aimed to explore the association of A-kinase interacting protein 1 (AKIP1) with chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand (CXCL) 1/CXCL2, and further investigate their correlation with clinical features and prognosis in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients.

Methods: Totally 160 de novo AML patients were recruited, and their bone marrow samples were collected before treatment for detecting the expressions of AKIP1, CXCL1, and CXCL2 by the quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Complete remission (CR) was assessed after induction treatment, and event-free survival (EFS) and overall survival (OS) were calculated.

Key Laboratory for Precision and Non-Traditional Machining Technology of Ministry of Education, Dalian University of Technology, Dalian 116024, People's Republic of China.

Small-thrust liquid-pulsed thrusters can achieve higher efficiency and more accurate control when operating in pulsed mode. However, the pulsed characteristic makes it challenging to measure the thrust. This paper describes a thrust stand for directly measuring the pulsed thrust from small-thrust liquid-pulsed thrusters.

In present study, the NO oxidation on Ni-carbon nanocage and Ni-boron nitride nanocage surfaces was investigated. The Ni-C and Ni-BN catalysts can oxidize the NO molecule by Langmuir-Hinshelwood (LH) and Eley-Rideal (ER) mechanisms. In this study, the NO molecule was joined to Ni atom of the Ni-surface-O* and Ni-surface-O* to generate the intermediates with low barrier energies.

Sequence analysis of the pyruvylated galactan sulfate-derived oligosaccharides by negative-ion electrospray tandem mass spectrometry.

Carbohydr Res

October 2016

Key Laboratory of Marine Drugs, Ministry of Education, Institute of Marine Drug and Food, Ocean University of China, Qingdao 266003, People's Republic of China.

Five sulfated oligosaccharide fragments, F1-F5, were prepared from a pyruvylated galactan sulfate from the green alga Codium divaricatum, by partial depolymerization using mild acid hydrolysis and purification with gel-permeation chromatography. Negative-ion electrospray tandem mass spectrometry with collision-induced dissociation (ES-CID-MS/MS) is attempted for sequence determination of the sulfated oligosaccharides. The sequence of F1 with homogeneous disaccharide composition was first characterized to be Galp-(4SO4)-(1 → 3)-Galp by detailed nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic analyses.

This aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of dexmedetomidine (DEX) on the intraoperative monitoring of somatosensory-evoked potentials (SEPs) and motor-evoked potentials (MEPs) in patients undergoing spinal surgery. A total of 36 patients who received spinal surgery under general anesthesia were randomly divided into two groups (n=18 per group), group C, the test group and group D, the control group, and these groups were subjected to a matching anesthesia induction. In brief, the anesthesia was administered via injection of etomidate and fentanyl; once the patients were unconscious, a laryngeal mask airway (LMA) was inserted, SEPs and MEPs were monitored and the collected data were considered to be basic data.
