Purpose: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a common disease with high prevalence, high mortality and high costs across the globe. Small airways are major sites contributing to airway resistance and the small airway disorder (SAD) is frequently implicated in early-stage COPD. Smoking is recognized as the leading cause of COPD and SAD.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) plus chemotherapy have become the standard of care for first-line treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with EGFR/ALK negative. However, there is no clear second-line treatment option after first-line treatment failure. To investigate the efficacy and safety of ICIs alone or in combination rechallenge treatment after first-line ICIs plus chemotherapy progression in advanced NSCLC.

Schwann cells (SCs) are necessary for peripheral nerve regeneration due to their plasticity and trophic supply after sciatic nerve injury (SNI). However, the multiple adaptations of SCs are still poorly understood. This study explored the effects of transient axonal glycoprotein type-1 (TAG-1) on cell migration and neuropilin1 (NRP1) expression in SCs and examined the impact of TAG-1 on nerve regeneration in rats with SNI.

Ovarian cancer is characterized by a high rate of recurrence and a poor prognosis. Ferroptosis, a programmed cell death that is dependent on iron and lipid peroxidation, has emerged as a novel therapeutic target in recent years. This study investigated the effects of Obacunone, a naturally occurring compound present in citrus fruits, on the induction of ferroptosis in ovarian cancer via the Akt/p53 signaling pathway.

This meta-analysis, encompassing a systematic review of randomised controlled trials, seeks to critically assess the efficacy of TEAS in relation to awakening from general anaesthesia in the postoperative period.
Methods: The inclusion criteria for this study were peer-reviewed randomised controlled trials that evaluated the influence of TEAS on the process of regaining consciousness following general anaesthesia.

Objective: The aim of this research was to gain a thorough understanding of the processes involved in cell communication and discover potential indicators for treating multiple myeloma (MM) through the use of single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq). And explored the expression of multiple myeloma-related subgroups on metal ion-related pathways to explore the relationship between MM and metal ions.
Methods: We performed a fair examination using single-cell RNA sequencing on 32 bone marrow specimens collected from 22 individuals at different points of MM advancement and 9 individuals without any health issues.

Objective: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the diagnostic value of the electrocardiogram (ECG) method in detecting cardiac amyloidosis (CA) to indicate its clinical application.
Methods: We searched PubMed, Web of Science, OVID Medline, and Cochrane Library databases for clinical trials assessing the diagnostic performance of ECG in detecting CA. We employed the risk ratio and 95% confidence interval (CI) to explicit estimates.

Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) is a marker associated with astrocyte activation and plays a role in various pathologic processes, including traumatic brain injury, stroke, and neurodegenerative diseases. Interacting boson approximation (Iba-1) is a marker protein for microglia, which are important in neuroinflammatory responses. This meta-analysis aimed to investigate the impact of general anesthetics on the expression of GFAP and Iba-1 in animal models.

Purpose: Programmed death-1 antibody plus chemotherapy has gained approval for the treatment for (human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 negative locally advanced or metastatic gastric or gastroesophageal junction cancer. This study aims to analyze the efficacy and safety of anti-programmed death-1 antibody combined with chemo- or anti-angiogenesis therapy in Chinese patients with advanced or metastatic gastric or gastroesophageal junction cancer in a real-world setting.
Methods: In total, 122 patients treated with anti-programmed death-1 antibody-based combination therapy between April 2019 and December 2021 were encompassed.

Background: Radioactive iodine-125 (I) microparticle therapy is a new type of internal radiation therapy that has shown unique advantages in the treatment of malignant tumors, especially hepatocellular carcinoma. Patients with hepatocellular carcinoma frequently experience portal vein embolism, which exacerbates the difficulty and complexity of treatment. I particles, used in local radiotherapy, can directly act on tumor tissue and reduce damage to surrounding healthy tissue.

Surgical site infection (SSI) after posterior open lumbar fusion (POLF) is a major concern for both surgeons and patients. We sought to explore whether local application of vancomycin could decrease the rate of SSI. We reviewed the clinical data of patients who underwent POLF between June 2015 and June 2022 at 3 spinal centers.

Background: Solasonine has been demonstrated to exert an inhibitory effect on bladder cancer (BC), but the potential mechanisms remain unclear. Therefore, the aim of this study is to explore the association between microRNAs (miRNAs)-mediated regulation and the anti-tumor activities of solasonine in BC.
Methods: MiRNA sequencing was performed to identify the differentially expressed microRNAs (DE-miRNAs) associated with solasonine in BC cells.

Fulvestrant, as the first selective estrogen receptor degrader, is widely used in the endocrine treatment of breast cancer. However, in the real world, there is a lack of relevant reports on adverse reaction data mining for fulvestrant. To perform data mining on adverse events (AEs) associated with fulvestrant and explore the risk factors contributing to severe AEs, providing a reference for the rational use of fulvestrant in clinical practice.

Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the anti-cancer effects of gedunin, a natural compound, in a rat model of gastric carcinogenesis induced by MNNG.
Methods: Fifty-four rats were randomly assigned to six groups for a 60-day study on the effects of MNNG and gedunin. Groups 1-4 received 200 mg/kg MNNG (1, 10, or 100 mg/kg), and group 5 had only 100 mg/kg gedunin.

A widely used psychotherapeutic treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) involves performing bilateral eye movement (EM) during trauma memory retrieval. However, how this treatment-described as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)-alleviates trauma-related symptoms is unclear. While conventional theories suggest that bilateral EM interferes with concurrently retrieved trauma memories by taxing the limited working memory resources, here, we propose that bilateral EM actually facilitates information processing.
