Atomically dispersed metal catalysts have attracted considerable attention in various important reactions owing to their high atom utilization and specific coordination environment. However, monometallic single sites sometimes present undesirable catalytic performance, which usually need a synergistic effect with the neighboring metal atoms, such as dimers or trimers. Different metal pairs on various solid carriers have been reported; nonetheless, huge challenges remain to precisely prepare a metal pair-site.

Transition-metal compounds (TMCs) have recently become promising candidates as lithium-sulfur (Li-S) battery cathode materials because they have unique adsorption and catalytic properties. However, the relationship between the anionic species and performance has not been sufficiently revealed. Herein, using FeCoNiX (X = O, S, and P) compounds as examples, we systematically studied the effects of the anion composition of FeCoNiX compounds on the adsorption and catalytic abilities of sulfur cathodes in Li-S batteries.

The effect of BuOK on the existing state of benzylic boronates in the solution phase has been investigated in detail by NMR analysis and DFT calculations. It was determined that simply using an excess of BuOK (2.0 equivalents) can result in the full deborylation of benzylic boronates to afford free benzyl potassium species.

Eugenol is a versatile plant essential oil, but its high volatility and low water solubility greatly limit its application. Accordingly, this study prepared eugenol nanoemulsions by a high-speed shearing technique. Through visual inspection and a series of characterizations, including dynamic light scattering, and confocal laser scanning microscopy, the optimized formula was determined to be 5% (w/w) oil phase (eugenol) and 8% (w/w) surfactant (Tween-80), and the optimized shearing time was 5 min.

Horizontal gene transfer facilitates the spread of antibiotic resistance genes, which constitutes a global challenge. However, the evolutionary trajectory of the mobile colistin resistome in bacteria is largely unknown. To investigate the coevolution and fitness cost of the colistin resistance genes in wild strains, different assays to uncover the genomic dynamics of and in bacterial populations are utilized.

The influence of dietary supplementation of l-arginine (Arg) or -carbamylglutamate (NCG) on the hepatic antioxidant status in intrauterine-growth-retarded (IUGR) suckling lambs remains unclear. The current work aimed to investigate the regulatory mechanisms whereby dietary Arg or NCG alter hepatic antioxidant status in suckling lambs suffering from IUGR. Forty-eight newborn Hu lambs of normal birth weight (CON) and IUGR were allocated randomly into four groups of 12 animals each: CON (4.

Developing new drugs for cancer treatment remains a challenging task. Herein, cancer cell membrane biomimetic ferrous ion-doped metal-organic framework nanoparticles (ZIF-8 nanoparticles) combined with dihydroartemisinin (DHA) have been designed for targeted cancer treatment with low toxicity and side effects. The biomimetic nanomaterials (CDZs) have excellent homologous targeting ability and can accumulate in tumor tissues.

Cisplatin, as one of the front-line chemotherapeutic drugs, is employed for the treatment of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). However, the occurrence of cisplatin resistance and metastasis remain as challenges in clinical therapy. To investigate the mechanism involved in cisplatin resistance, in this study, we established cisplatin resistant cell lines (Res) from Eca109 and TE-1 parental cells (Par), and we observed that fibronectin (FN)-mediated cell migration and spreading abilities are significantly increased in Res cells when compared to Par cells.

Emerging evidence indicates that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in the regulation of cell differentiation by acting as competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA). However, the regulatory mechanisms of lncRNA and the lncRNA-associated ceRNA network involved in adipogenic differentiation of chicken preadipocytes remain elusive. Here, we first constructed the chicken preadipocyte in vitro induction model.

Different approaches for the fabrication of CNT-supported Ni-triazole composites, such as room-temperature stirring and hydrothermal treatment for a distinct reaction time has been presented. As a result, various morphologies, MMOF wrapped CNTs, CNTs entangled with an MMOF and CNTs attached on an MMOF, were synthesized and investigated through electrochemical measurements. The as-synthesized CNTs/MMOF-based hybrids, especially for the CNTs/MMOF-8H structure, show a good rate capability after 20 times increase, a superior coulombic efficiency and an excellent long-term cycling stability (more than 98% retained after 2000 cycles).

Exploiting a rapid and sensitive method for biomarker detection has important implications in the early diagnosis of diseases. Here, we synthesized MnO microspheres which worked as a nanozyme to exhibit outstanding oxidase-like activity for rapid colorimetric determination of glutathione (GSH). The MnO microspheres of about 800 nm in size could be prepared through a hydrothermal method, and we found that the as-prepared MnO microspheres could quickly oxidize 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to its oxidized form (TMBox) in the absence of HO.

  • Additives like glyphosate play a crucial role in shaping the final structure of metal during electrochemical deposition.
  • Copper thin films were produced using glyphosate in an electrochemical process, affecting how the copper ions crystallize on an indium tin oxide (ITO) substrate.
  • The findings showed that higher concentrations of glyphosate led to weaker X-ray diffraction peaks, indicating a potential for quantitative analysis in detecting metal deposition.

Cytochrome P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) is capable of catalyzing the biotransformation of endogenous compounds in cells, indicating that this enzyme could change the intracellular environment and is related to the pathogenesis of diseases. Currently, it is still a challenge to study the differences in cellular components between CYP2C9-expressing and non-expressing cells. In this study, employing a Au nanoparticles-Ag nanowires (AuNPs-AgNWs) decorated silicon wafer as a novel non-destructive and label-free tool, we applied surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy to detect and distinguish the cellular composition of CYP2C9-expressing cells (293T-Mig-2C9) and non-expressing cells (293T-Mig-R1).
