In this study, we aim to investigate the role of enolase 1 (ENO1) in osteoarthritis (OA) pathogenic process and to uncover the underlying mechanism. To this end, we used IL-1β to induce an in vitro OA‑like chondrocyte model in human immortalized chondrocyte C-28/I2 cells. We manipulated the expression of ENO1 and cytokine receptor-like factor 1 (CRLF1) in IL-1β-induced C-28/I2 cells using siRNA and/or overexpression and tested their effects on IL-1β-induced pathologies including cell viability, apoptosis and inflammatory cytokine levels (IL-6 and TNF-α), and the expression of extracellular matrix-related enzymes and major mediators in the NF-κB signaling pathway (p-p65, p65, p-IκBα and IκBα).

The migration behavior of electron and hole pairs determines both photoluminescence and photocatalytic activity, which are two distinct properties of semiconductor materials. The photoluminescence and photocatalytic activity of semiconductor materials also exhibit strong method-dependent behavior under the influence of synthesis methods. In this review, the synthesis methods of MMoO, MWO and MMoO/MWO (M = Mg, Ca, Sr and Ba) heterojunction composites and their photoluminescence and photocatalytic activities are reviewed for the first time.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is characterized by a variety of subtypes, each defined by unique genetic and morphological features. This study utilizes single-cell RNA sequencing to explore the molecular heterogeneity of RCC. A highly proliferative cell subset, termed as "Prol," was discovered within RCC tumors, and its increased presence was linked to poorer patient outcomes.

Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths, and improving prognostic accuracy is vital for personalised treatment approaches, especially in the context of immunotherapy. In this study, we constructed an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven stemness-related gene signature (SRS) that deciphered LUAD prognosis and immunotherapy response. CytoTRACE analysis of single-cell RNA sequencing data identified genes associated with stemness in LUAD epithelial cells.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized gastrointestinal cancer treatment, yet the absence of reliable biomarkers hampers precise patient response prediction.
Methods: We developed and validated a genomic mutation signature (GMS) employing a novel artificial intelligence network to forecast the prognosis of gastrointestinal cancer patients undergoing ICIs therapy. Subsequently, we explored the underlying immune landscapes across different subtypes using multiomics data.

With the development of renewable energy technologies, the demand for efficient energy storage systems is growing. Supercapacitors have attracted considerable attention as efficient electrical energy storage devices because of their excellent power density, fast charging and discharging capabilities, and long cycle life. Carbon nanofibers are widely used as electrode materials in supercapacitors because of their excellent mechanical properties, electrical conductivity, and light weight.

Recent studies have indicated that the tumor immune microenvironment plays a pivotal role in the initiation and progression of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). However, the characteristics and heterogeneity of tumor immunity in ccRCC, particularly at the multiomics level, remain poorly understood. We analyzed immune multiomics datasets to perform a consensus cluster analysis and validate the clustering results across multiple internal and external ccRCC datasets; and identified two distinctive immune phenotypes of ccRCC, which we named multiomics immune-based cancer subtype 1 (MOICS1) and subtype 2 (MOICS2).

Unlabelled: Yield and quality are two crucial breeding objects of wheat therein grain weight and grain protein content (GPC) are two key relevant factors correspondingly. Investigations of their genetic mechanisms represent special significance for breeding. In this study, 199 F plants and corresponding F families derived from Nongda3753 (ND3753) and its EMS-generated mutant 564 (M564) were used to investigate the genetic basis of larger grain and higher GPC of M564.

Background: Avian pathogenic E. coli (APEC) can cause localized or systemic infections, collectively known as avian colibacillosis, resulting in huge economic losses to poultry industry globally per year. In addition, increasing evidence indicates that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play a critical role in regulating host inflammation in response to bacterial infection.

Sheath blight (ShB) disease, caused by Kühn, is one of the most serious rice diseases. Rice breeding against ShB has been severely hindered because no major resistance genes or germplasms are available in rice. Here, we report that introduction of antifungal protein (GAFP) genes from B1 into rice significantly enhances resistance to rice ShB.

Fungi play a crucial role in decomposing litter and facilitating the energy flow between aboveground plants and underground soil in forest ecosystems. However, our understanding how the fungal community involved in litter decomposition responds during forest succession, particularly in disease-driven succession, is still limited. This study investigated the activity of degrading enzyme, fungal community, and predicted function in litter after one year of decomposition in different types of forests during a forest succession gradient from coniferous to deciduous forest, induced by pine wilt disease.

Background: The prognostic-related factors of lung invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma(IMA) are unclear because of its rarity. Various inflammation-based biomarkers were reported to predict the survival of malignant diseases. This study aims to explore the prognostic significance of the systemic immune-inflammation index(SII), which is calculated using absolute platelet, neutrophil, and lymphocyte counts, among patients with invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma.

qSB12, a major quantitative sheath blight resistance gene originated from rice variety YSBR1 with good breeding potential, was mapped to a 289-Kb region on chromosome 12. Sheath blight (ShB), caused by Rhizoctonia solani kühn, is one of the most serious global rice diseases. Rice resistance to ShB is a typical of quantitative trait controlled by multiple quantitative trait loci (QTLs).

Circular RNAs (circRNA) originate from back-splicing events that link a downstream 5'splice site to an upstream 3' splice site. Circular RNA has been shown to be involved in gene expression, interacting with microRNA and RNA binding proteins to affect transcription, splicing, translation, and other processes. However, little is known about the potential function of chicken circRNAs that trigger the pathogenesis.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have a regulatory role in gene expression, development, differentiation, and immune response. In a previous study, circular RNA STX8 (circSTX8) exhibited low expression in chicken lungs during lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation. PCR amplification and Sanger sequencing showed that circSTX8 was created by back-splicing of exons 5 to 6 of STX8.

The use of multi-visual network 3D measurements is increasing; however, finding ways to apply low-cost industrial cameras to achieve intelligent networking and efficient measurement is a key problem that has not been fully solved. In this paper, the multivision stereo vision 3D measurement principle and multivision networking process constraints are analyzed in depth, and an intelligent networking method based on the genetic evolution algorithm (GEA) is proposed. The genetic operation is improved, and the fitness function is dynamically calibrated.

Receptor-interacting protein 2 (RIP2) plays a critical role in the transduction of many signaling pathways and is associated with many diseases. Alternative splicing (AS) is an essential and ubiquitous regulatory mechanism of gene expression that contributes to distinct transcript variants and many different kinds of proteins. In this present study, we characterized genome-wide AS events in wild-type chicken macrophages (WT) and overexpression/knockdown chicken macrophages (oeRIP2/shRIP2) by high-throughput RNA sequencing technology.

Background: Ovarian cancer (OC) is a common tumor of the female reproductive system, while Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a prevalent neurodegenerative disease that primarily affects cognitive function in the elderly. Monocytes are immune cells in the blood that can enter tissues and transform into macrophages, thus participating in immune and inflammatory responses. Overall, monocytes may play an important role in Alzheimer's disease and ovarian cancer.
