Objective: Dyskinesia is the most common motor complication in advanced Parkinson's Disease (PD) and has a severe impact on daily life. But the mechanism of dyskinesia is still poorly understood. This study aims to explore risk factors for disabling dyskinesia in PD and further analyze the Vesicular Monoamine Transporter 2 (VMAT2) distribution (labeled with 18F-AV133) in the corpus striatum and the 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) metabolism of different brain regions by PET-CT.

dl-3n-butylphthalide reduces oxygen-glucose deprivation-induced endothelial cell damage by increasing PGC-1α.

Eur Rev Med Pharmacol Sci

May 2019

Department of Neurology, Affiliated Yan'an Hospital of Kunming Medical University, Cardiovascular Disease Hospital of Yunnan Province, Kunming, China.

Objective: Animal experiments verified that dl-3-n-butylphthalide (NBP) can protect vascular endothelial cells from ischemic damage and promote vascular proliferation in ischemic stroke treatment, but the underlying mechanism has not been fully clarified. This study aimed to investigate the effects of NBP on peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor-γ coactivator-1α (PGC-1α) expression in endothelial cells exposed to oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) and to clarify the related molecular mechanism.

Materials And Methods: SV40-transformed aortic rat endothelial cell line was cultured and subjected to OGD in the presence or absence of NBP.

Nat Prod Res

March 2020

Department of Anatomy and Histology & Embryology, Faculty of Basic Medical Science, Kunming Medical University, Kunming, Yunnan, China.

Amphibian skin is known to secrete gene-encoded antioxidant peptides of small molecular weight, which play important roles in host defense. However, recognition of such peptides is still in its infancy. Here, we discovered a novel gene-encoded antioxidant peptide (named OM-GF17) from skin secretions of amphibian species, .

Protein Pept Lett

April 2019

Department of Anatomy and Histology & Embryology, Faculty of Basic Medical Science, Kunming Medical University, Kunming 650500, Yunnan, China.

Background: Amphibian skin plays an essential role in protecting organisms from harmful external factors such as UV radiation. How amphibians protect themselves from reactive oxygen species following long-term sun exposure is an important and interesting question. Amphibian skins possess a novel antioxidant system composed of various Antioxidant Peptides (AOPs), which maintain redox homeostasis.

Department of Gastroenterology, Second Affiliated Hospital, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Shaanxi, China. Electronic address:

Portulacaoleraceal (POL) has been widely used as an edible plant and a folk medicine in many countries, due to its several health benefits. This study examined the effects of POL on trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS)-induced colitis via enema administration. Sixty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into five groups: untreated, TNBS, TNBS + POL 10 g/kg, TNBS + POL 5 g/kg and TNBS + POL 2.

The present study aimed to assess the induction of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), invasion, and metastasis by the chemokine CXCL9/receptor CXCR3 axis in tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC), unveiling the underlying mechanisms and providing new insights into the prevention and treatment of oral cancer metastasis. The expression levels of CXCL9 and CXCR3 in TSCC tissue specimens were determined by immunohistochemistry, assessing differences between samples with cervical lymph node metastasis and those without. Moreover, protein expression or activity in the TSCC Cal-27 cell line was controlled by neutralizing antibodies, gene transfection, or knock-out.

Descemet's membrane (DM) helps maintain phenotype and function of corneal endothelial cells under physiological conditions, while little is known about the function of DM in corneal endothelial wound healing process. In the current study, we performed in vivo rabbit corneal endothelial cell (CEC) injury via CEC scraping, in which DM remained intact after CECs removal, or via DM stripping, in which DM was removed together with CECs. We found rabbit corneas in the CEC scraping group healed with transparency restoration, while there was posterior fibrosis tissue formation in the corneas after DM stripping on day 14.

Increasing evidences demonstrated that microRNAs (miRNAs) play critical roles in the human tumor development and progression. In our study, we found that miR-330-3p expression was downregulated in gastric cancer cell lines and tissues. Ectopic expression of miR-330-3p suppressed the gastric cancer cell proliferation, colony formation and migration.

January 2016

Key Laboratory of Special Biological Resource Development and Utilization of Universities in Yunnan Province, Key Lab of Aquatic Ecological Restoration of Dianchi Lake in Kunming, Department of Biological Science and Technology, Kunming University, Kunming, 650214 China.

Background: Termicin is an antimicrobial peptide with six cysteines forming three disulfide bridges that was firstly isolated from the salivary glands and hemocytes of the termite Pseudacanthotermes spiniger. In contrast to many broad-spectrum antimicrobial peptides, termicin is most active against filamentous fungi. Although more than one hundred complementary DNAs (cDNAs) encoding termicin-like peptides have been reported to date, all these termicin-like peptides were obtained from Isoptera insects.
