High-grade fetal adenocarcinoma of the lung is a tumour with a fetal phenotype that shows diverse differentiation, including high-grade neuroendocrine carcinoma: a clinicopathological, immunohistochemical and mutational study of 20 cases.

Aims: High-grade fetal adenocarcinoma (H-FLAC) is a rare variant of pulmonary adenocarcinoma; this study aims to elucidate its clinicopathological features and genetic abnormalities.

Methods And Results: Clinicopathological, immunohistochemical and mutational analyses were performed on 20 surgically resected lung cancers that showed H-FLAC histology in various proportions. These tumours predominantly occurred in elderly males and in 10 patients who were heavy smokers.

[A case of metastatic lung and liver tumors from rectal cancer treated with oral UFT and CPT-11 by hepatic arterial infusion followed by FOLFOX and FOLFIRI].

The patient was a 62-year-old male who underwent a high anterior resection for rectal cancer with multiple liver metastases in June 2004. After the operation, 66 courses of weekly hepatic arterial infusion(HAI)therapy of 5-FU/Leucovorin( LV)were performed. [A case of liver metastatic recurrence of gastric cancer effectively treated by combined chemotherapy of CPT-11 and CDDP].

The patient was a 72-year-old female with gastric carcinoma. A liver metastatic recurrence was detected 27 months after operation. Background: We assessed the nitrous oxide (N2O) gas-barrier properties of a new endotracheal tube cuff, the Profile Soft-Seal Cuff (Resistant: R) (Sims Portex, Kent, UK).

Methods: The tracheas of randomly selected patients were intubated with the Profile Cuff (Permeable: P) (Sims Portex) tuble or with Portex Soft-Seal Cuff (R) (n=20 each) endotracheal tube. Cuffs were inflated with air, and intracuff pressure was measured during anesthesia using 67% N2O.

A 20-year-old male was clinically diagnosed as having a mediastinal non seminomatous germ cell tumor because of the elevation of the serum AFP and a large mass lesion in the anterior mediastinal and right thoracic cavity. After 3 courses of chemotherapy with cisplatin (CDDP) and etoposide (VP-16), the serum level decreased to normal range. But, the mediastinal mass enlarged after chemotherapy due to hemorrhage.

[A case report of bilateral multiple pulmonary arteriovenous fistulas treated surgically at one-stage procedure by median sternotomy].

Ventricular septal defect secondary to non-penetrating chest trauma.

A 52-year-old man acquired a ventricular septal defect following non-penetrating chest trauma. Four days after the traumatic accident, he showed signs of congestive heart failure. Imaging techniques using echocardiography and left ventriculography were helpful in diagnosing the condition.

[Retroperitoneal leiomyoma: a case report].

The patient was a 40-year-old woman who was hospitalized for edema of whole body. On admission, ultrasonography, CT scan and MRI revealed bilateral hydronephrosis due to retroperitoneal large tumors. The angiography showed hypervascular tumors in the pelvis.
