A Case of Cholangitis as a Nivolumab-Induced Immune-Related Adverse Event in a Patient with Pulmonary Metastasis After Surgery for Oral Cancer.

We report a case of cholangitis, an immune-related adverse event (irAE), caused by the administration of nivolumab in a patient with lung metastasis of oral cancer. A 72-year-old man developed pulmonary metastasis after surgery for oral cancer. Hepatic enzyme abnormalities were observed after the second session of treatment, and irAE cholangitis was diagnosed based on the results of the blood test results and endoscopy findings.

Outcomes of noncurative endoscopic submucosal dissection for T1 colorectal cancer: Prospective, multicenter, cohort study in Japan.

Objectives: This study investigated the incidence of lymph node metastasis and long-term outcomes in patients with T1 colorectal cancer where endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) resulted in noncurative treatment. It is focused on those with deep submucosal invasion, a factor considered a weak predictor of lymph node metastasis in the absence of other risk factors.

Methods: This nationwide, multicenter, prospective study conducted a post-hoc analysis of 141 patients with T1 colorectal cancer ≥20 mm where ESD of the lesion resulted in noncurative outcomes, characterized by poor differentiation, deep submucosal invasion (≥1000 μm), lymphovascular invasion, high-grade tumor budding, or positive vertical margins.

Symptom Burden and Its Impact on Quality of Life in Patients With Moderate to Severe CKD: The International Chronic Kidney Disease Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (CKDopps).

Rationale & Objective: Recent evidence suggests people with nondialysis chronic kidney disease (ND-CKD) experience a substantial burden of symptoms, but informative large-scale studies have been scarce. We assessed the prevalence of symptoms and the association of overall symptom burden with quality of life in patients with moderate to severe CKD.

Thus, 'Somei-Yoshino' gives us a rare opportunity to trace and investigate the occurrence and distribution of somatic mutations within a single plant species through analysis of the genomes of the clonally propagated trees grown under a variety of geographical and artificial environments. In the studies presented here, a total of 46 samples of 'Somei-Yoshino' trees were collected and their genomes were analysed.

We examined the association between texture features using three-dimensional (3D) io-dine density histogram on delayed phase of dual-energy CT (DECT) and expression of programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) using immunostaining methods in non-small cell lung cancer. Consecutive 37 patients were scanned by DECT. Unenhanced and enhanced (3 min delay) images were obtained.

Involvement of lipid-translocating exporter family proteins in determination of myriocin sensitivity in budding yeast.

Myriocin is an inhibitor of serine palmitoyltransferase involved in the initial biosynthetic step for sphingolipids, and causes potent growth inhibition in eukaryotic cells. In budding yeast, Rsb1, Rta1, Pug1, and Ylr046c are known as the Lipid-Translocating Exporter (LTE) family and believed to contribute to export of various cytotoxic lipophilic compounds. It was reported that Rsb1 is a transporter responsible for export of intracellularly accumulated long-chain bases, which alleviate the cytotoxicity.

Safety and Immunogenicity of Respiratory Syncytial Virus Prefusion F Protein Vaccine when Co-administered with Adjuvanted Seasonal Quadrivalent Influenza Vaccine in Older Adults: A Phase 3 Randomized Trial.

Background: We evaluated co-administration of adjuvanted seasonal quadrivalent influenza vaccine (FLU-aQIV) and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) prefusion F protein-based vaccine (RSVPreF3 OA) in ≥65-year-olds.

Methods: This phase 3, open-label trial randomized ≥65-year-olds to receive FLU-aQIV and RSVPreF3 OA concomitantly (Co-Ad) or sequentially, 1 month apart (Control). Primary objectives were to demonstrate the non-inferiority of FLU-aQIV and RSVPreF3 OA co-administration versus sequential administration in terms of hemagglutination inhibition (HI) titers for each FLU-aQIV strain and RSV-A and RSV-B neutralization titers, 1 month post-vaccination.

Association between maternal multimorbidity and neurodevelopment of offspring: a prospective birth cohort study from the Japan Environment and Children's Study.

Objectives: To investigate the association between multimorbidity during pregnancy and neurodevelopmental delay in offspring using data from a Japanese nationwide birth cohort study.

Design: This study was a prospective birth cohort study.

Setting: This study population included 104 059 fetal records who participated in The Japan Environment and Children's Study from 2011 to 2014.

Effect of coaching the sit-to-stand motion and attentional focus.

[Purpose] The present study investigated whether (1) "standing up while bowing" is effective for promoting the sit-to-stand (STS) motion and (2) whether this coaching promotes internal focus. [Participants and Methods] The participants included 17 healthy adults who performed the 30-s chair stand test with two sets of verbal instructions. The verbal instructions were as follows: "Please stand up as many times as possible for 30 s" (control condition) and "Please stand up while bowing as many times as possible for 30 s" (bowing condition).

Effects of simultaneous short-term neuromuscular electrical stimulation and static stretching on calf muscles.

[Purpose] The simultaneous application of static stretching and neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) to calf muscles may enhance physiological parameters in young and healthy individuals; however, the efficacy of this intervention and potential sex variation remain to be elucidated. The present study aimed to investigate these aspects. [Participants and Methods] Thirty healthy university students (15 males and 15 females) participated in this study.

Exacerbation of delirium and epileptic seizures in an older man with idiopathic Parkinson's disease due to multiple prescriptions: a case report.

Introduction: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a disorder characterized by motor symptoms, such as rigidity, akinesia, and resting tremor, as well as non-motor symptoms, including psychiatric manifestations and autonomic failure. The prevalence of PD increases with age, and the condition is more common in men than in women. Conversely, polypharmacy has emerged as a paramount medical concern, especially among older patients, correlating with medicines' adverse effects, interactions between medicines, frequent admissions to the hospital, and a high risk of morbidity and mortality.

Treatment outcome of localized prostate cancer using transperineal ultrasound image-guided radiotherapy.

Background: We report the results of a retrospective analysis of localized prostate cancer (LPCa) treated with transperineal ultrasound image-guided radiotherapy (TPUS-IGRT).

Methods: A total of 124 patients (median age: 74 y, 46-84 y) with LPCa who underwent TPUS-IGRT (Clarity Autoscan system; CAS, Elekta; Stockholm, Sweden) between April 2016 and October 2021 for curative/after hormone induction were enrolled. The number of patients by risk (National Comprehensive Cancer Network 2019) was 7, 25, 42, and 50 for low (LR), good intermediate (good IR), poor intermediate (poor IR), and high (HR)/very high (VHR), respectively.

Infants' early recovery from sleep disturbance is associated with a lower risk of developmental delay in the Japan Environment and Children's Study.

To examine whether patterns, such as the timings of onset or recovery from sleep disturbance, are associated with later developmental problems, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Mothers participating in the Japan Environment and Children's Study with a child aged 3 years were included in the analyses. Children were assessed for short sleep and frequent awakenings at 1 month, 6 months, and 1 year of age.

Bone marrow edema detection for diagnostic support of axial spondyloarthritis using MRI.

Purpose: This study proposes a process for detecting slices with bone marrow edema (BME), a typical finding of axSpA, using MRI scans as the input. This process does not require manual input of ROIs and provides the results of the judgment of the presence or absence of BME on a slice and the location of edema as the rationale for the judgment.

Methods: First, the signal intensity of the MRI scans of the sacroiliac joint was normalized to reduce the variation in signal values between scans.

Background: Carbon ion radiotherapy (CIRT) is currently used to treat prostate cancer. Rectal bleeding is a major cause of toxicity even with CIRT. However, to date, a correlation between the dose and volume parameters of the 12 fractions of CIRT for prostate cancer and rectal bleeding has not been shown.

There are few studies on the parenting of fathers with autism traits. To investigate this issue, we examined the type of parenting performed by fathers with autism traits using data from a nationwide birth cohort study, the Japan Environment and Children's Study. Paternal parenting was evaluated by mothers or caregivers when the child was 2 years old.

Real-world retrospective analysis of immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy for relapsed or refractory Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) are promising therapeutic agents for relapsed or refractory classical Hodgkin's lymphoma (RRcHL). This retrospective study evaluated patients with RRcHL registered in the clinical research program Tohoku-Hematology-Forum-26, between 2016 and 2020, and treated with ICI in 14 centers in Northeast Japan. We analyzed the usage, efficacy, and safety of ICI therapy (ICIT).

The interaction between cancer cells and stromal cells contributes to the pathogenesis of various types of tumors in the tumor microenvironment (TME). Macrophages (Mφs), a type of stromal cell, are transformed into tumor-associated Mφs (TAMs) after integrating within solid tumors. TAMs are known to interact with cancer cells and induce tumor progression.

Usefulness of Inter-Hospital Heart Team Conference Based Collaborative Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation in Patients with Cardiovascular Disease.

An inter-hospital heart team conference based collaborative follow-up (FU) may facilitate outpatient cardiac rehabilitation (CR) programs, especially in hospitals without an outpatient CR center. Consecutive 145 patients with cardiovascular disease who received inpatient treatment at Yamagata University Hospital were divided into collaborative (n = 76) and same-hospital (n = 69) FU groups. In the collaborative FU group, patients received outpatient care at a university hospital and outpatient CR at different hospitals.
